  • Sociopaths are often called psychopaths and vice versa but there are differences between a psychopath and a sociopath. Psychopaths, for example, are far more likely to get in trouble with the law while sociopaths are much more likely to blend in with society. And while sociopaths and psychopaths do share some traits, sociopathy (antisocial personality disorder) is generally considered less severe than psychopathy.
    Here are 5 subtle differences between a sociopath and psychopath.

      I beg to differ, although my argument is solely based on the content of this video, isn't the psychopath the one who's going to convince to jump since he's the manipulative one? Also the sociopath's decison making is more spontaneous and less strategic so he could throw you out based on whimsy... I could be wrong tho

    Realistically, no true psychopath would make a comment about their disorder, unless they were proviing iinformation regarding the diagnosis in a relevant manner. As psychopaths tend not to participate in any activity that does not serve a purpose. For example; a psychopath usually will not go out of his/her way to destroy someone, regarless of what they did to them, unless doing so served a higher purpose, and/or doing so directly benifits them. Or if they deem it worth while. Since they do not have normal emotional responses they tend to consider such matters trivial and pointless. Furthermore, if someone stabbing them and "humiliating" them would, to some psychopaths not be a driving force to persue the person, they surely would not see any point in essntially bragging about and/or stating their condition on the internet. Considering psychopaths lack the need for reassurance from others and tend to extraordinarily cunning they would find absolutely no use in stating any information pertaining to them unless it was warranted. In conclusion, absolutely almost everyone posting about how their are psychopathic are a bunch of edge lords.

      Goblintooth it's not a vile state nor disgusting. It's a mental health condition, though not all psychopaths are "vile and disgusting", that is edgy bull shit. It varies from person to person.

    • @DrHouse888
      @DrHouse888 6 лет назад +25

      Goblintooth All it is is lacking in certain human characteristics and low emotional responses. That in itself cannot make them vile. It's by definiton having a different neurological make up. That's it, it has nothing to do with violence or murder.

    • @ciaareinthecommentssection9575
      @ciaareinthecommentssection9575 6 лет назад +4

      Its not a mental health condition its a neurological disease that has never been successfully treated resulting in ppl tearing live kittens apart and murdering ppl because they are hungry and want to eat their brains for more power. Its nt edgy to want everyone of them exterminated, its good common sense. They are anti-conscience societal pollution who belong among wolves more than men.

    • @DrHouse888
      @DrHouse888 6 лет назад +28

      Goblintooth Not really. Psychopaths like anyone else have the capacity just like anyone else to either do good or harm. A lack of emotion isn't synonymous with being a vile human being. Many people who have psychopathy are in some regards more civil and less parasitic than their neurotypical counterparts.

    Cop: "Why did you shoot the unarmed customer blocking the door during your bank robbery?"
    Sociopath: "He wasn't a cop. What right did he have to try and stop me? I don't like people who try to play hero."
    Psychopath: "He was between me and the door."
    The root word of Sociopath is social. In high functioning cases, almost every big decision they make is based on an outside force that either helped or hurt them. This outside force is usually another human being(s).
    The root word of Psychopath is psych. The world is their own mind, and anything in the real world including human beings are just tools or blockages.
    Both CAN be equally dangerous in high functioning cases. It's kinda one of those 'pick your poison' type situations tbh.

      That's true. With psychopaths, the motivations are self-driven and otherwise impersonal. Sociopathy may seem similar to the uninitiated, but in short order, once contact has been established and hooks deployed, it will develop into a highly personalized and protracted evisceration of the host. And yes, dust will trigger these mindless, soulless f*cks. Don't ever forget, if they are in any sense alive, their hearts are pumping stolen blood. No exceptions. If this does not describe you, I have good news for you. You have been misdiagnosed and can get on with your life.

You are defined by your actions and or reactions to circumstances. Not by your initial circumstances. You clowns go out of your way to A) blame anything and everything but yourselves, while B) attempting (in pathetic fashion)to evoke sympathy while shitting on everything and everyone worthwhile in your path. Your word salad is a dead-giveaway. Thanks for checking in.

    It's hard to take this video seriously when you haven't even established the main eitiologies of psychopathy and sociopathy, with a clue of the answer being partially in the words. (Psycho)paths meaning their condition has it's roots in internal variables, e.g. genetics/congenital/psychological issues, differences in brain function. (Socio)pathy on the other hand is thought to have it's roots more in social (sociological), environmental and/or interactional factors, such as upbringing, dysfunctional families, abuse/bullying, etc.

      Mrs. Voldemort Yeah i'm a psychopath. When i was a kid i used to beat my cat really bad. the cat was smart enough to jump out the balcony every morning before i could reach him. But today i got a dog and i love her more than anything. The reason for you to love your cats is because you feel like you're in power of them, and all they are is cute hairballs for you. If you would compare your definition of love compared to a normal person then it's not the same. You don't love your cats, you simply like them and see them as a thing u deeply like, simular to the love for music. u would be sad to lose it, but you simply like it because u find a type of connection to it. You can't diagnos yourself 100%. Tell me if u have more questions :) Sorry for my bad grammar, english is not my main language.

    A lack of empathy isn't much of a barrier in having relationships. Just because you aren't able to feel bad for your friend if they got hurt in any way, or feel happy for them when they feel happy, doesn't mean you can't build bonds with people based on similar likes, views, hobbies, values, & other things. & a strong valuing of justice can be very easily confused by others as empathy. ( just including this info to show how hard it can be to not only differentiate the two, but to even point either or out lol ).

      Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. If you don't have empathy doing something wrong to someone else won't effect you in any way and you will see nothing wrong with what you did. Having no empathy means you will not care about how anyone else feels and makes you only care about yourself. This makes everyone else a tool to your success and nothing more. It can't be a a true relationship if it is only one sided.

    As someone diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, I feel some of these analysis to be misleading... I can speak from experience when I say there is a definite negative stigma for nearly any not fully understood mental or personality disorder.
    Please note and keep in mind that elements/expressions/characteristics of Narcissism, Sociopaths, and even Psychopaths operate on a spectrum. It is not an all or nothing thing with any of the characteristics of these. An individual may exhibit all of one while another may be near non-existent. This stigma that these are "bad" people further causes individuals of such diagnosis to retreat even further from society and causes a circular effect of misunderstanding. I myself rate on the rather high end for a lack of empathy but this does not imply that act as if they do not exist. I simply take more time and often resort to the input of others when dealing with situations where I am unsure how to respond because of emotional fallout.

    my best friends ex was a sociopath.. he was so manipulative and managed to make everybody like him but inside he was so rotten...he made her completely attached to him to the point where she would‘ve done everything to satisfy him, and he knew that and used it to manipulate her even more...even though she actually has a really strong personality! They fought all the time, he beat her, even me at some point since i was with them most of the time...and she let all of this happen, bcuz she just loved him so much. I hated him with all my guts that in the end I was happy he cheated on her which was the only thing that made my best friend seriously dump him. I‘m so proud of her for cutting him off💝 i wouldn‘t want anyone to ever have to deal with a psycho or sociopath...it‘s exhausting confusing and might break someone...

    This video is highly informative. Yesterday, I broke up with my boyfriend because he was a straight up sociopath. He never takes the blame for anything and always thinks he is the victim, even when he knows he isn't. After I broke up with him, he went on his story and started saying false information about me and saying that I was the cause of his friends abandoning him. Like, no, I wasn't the cause of your friends departing. And yesterday, he tried turning many people against me. I was shaking and crying and my friend came over to comfort me. I lot of my friends are guarding me tomorrow because they don't want him going after me because they're afraid he's going to hurt me. (He is very violent.) Sociopaths are so fucking scary because of how good at manipulating they are. :(

      I'd be very careful, Sociopaths are very bad to deal with, and usually cause more problems similar to this than Psychopaths do. Additionally i'd recommend taking up a simple martial art, such as boxing, it takes very little time to learn and little to to learn how to use it effectively. Additionally you don't need to be strong to hit hard if you have the skill which won't take long to gather. Also Blairs comment is helpful as well. Never the less be careful, and try to remain optimistic, you have friends there to willing to support you, use them if you must additionally having feedback about how effective the choices you'll make is usually a good thing. I hope my comment has helped you in some way.

      Alan Mota i beleive its the opposite
      mostly because psychopaths are very obvious to pick upas they react objectively and never emotionally. They might be good actors to get attention but to actually form natural relationships are difficult (like it says in the video) Sociopaths, on the other hand, are more normal, they can easiily mold into the rest of th normal people and it takes a lot more time to pik up a Sociopath
      true, psychopaths are more dangerous in he see they arent afraid to harm you, but truly socipaths are the scariest because they can form relationships naturally and more easily emotionally manipulate other people with theiir own emotions. Psychopaths cant do that
      Presley Trancy i do hope the best for you though and dont let him get to you. My only advce is to warn others of your ex's behavior

He has this creepy dead glare and whenever me and my family come to his house (not for him, but his family) he acts in a very false and antisocial way. He leaves for work at dawn and comes back very late and never tells his family where he has been, plus, they know little about this man's past. I'm worried he can be a threat for my family

However, if you're really concern, maybe strike a conversation with him and see where it goes. Here is a solution. Get him to take shrooms again, more than usual. Then convince him he won't be able to feel without them. Wear gloves, hand him a knife. Then tell him God told him he will go to heaven if he ends his life as his lack of emotion is a sign from God that he isn't meant to be alive. Then play a recording of multiple voices telling him to do it behind him while he's under the influence. Gradually increase the volume till it becomes overbearing. Sit down, crack open a beer and calmly watch as he stabs himself multiple times. Then walk away and go have yourself a nice lunch and watch a movie.

He got rid of very loyal and hardworking people and convinced the leaders that these people are the cause of the company's failures. Some key employees at a company are not quickly replaceable. Do not let a psychopath make decisions about a company or an employee's future.

    I read Kevin Dutton's Wisdom of Psychopaths. It was a very interesting book and the author presents what he calls "functional psychopathy" as a very useful trait, not just for the individual, but quite probably for the society as a whole. I don't know what to make of it. His psychopath seems very different from Robert Hare's psychopath.

    I met a kid in my class back in middle school who showed signs of sociopath.
    As a person he was very rude, impulsive, unsympathetic, manipulative, disruptive, irresponsible, reckless, racist, sexist, and violent.
    So he was very much a bully but to a much extreme level and unlike most that I’ve encountered, he was not like any that I’ve ever met.
    He would often be disruptive during class lectures, he would go out of his way to shout or verbally insult me on almost every level in public (he even went as far as to insult a substitute teacher to point where he made her cry and thought nothing of it), he would throw tantrums and destroy school property, he would utilize peer pressure by using connections with students so they could turn against me even though he bullied most of them, he’d started physical fights with students, he would occasionally ditch class, he would secretly bring weapons to school such as knives, and he held no sense of empathy or consequence for any of his actions.
    Granted I wouldn’t have known that he was a sociopath if I hadn’t learned from the vice principal, who told me in private that he had been expelled from other schools do to his poor behavior and was undergoing medication because.
    Sadly he was never expelled from my school because of conflicts with his parents he and made the last two years of middle school a living hell.

    Psychopath here. The video is good. All I can add is that NOT all psychopaths are agressive or have criminal background. The main difference is - we can not feel the majority of emotions and if we do they are pretty shallow and basic. Like, when you feel you like a person - it is not like by normal people. You can easily get rid of someone in your life. If people use morale and compassion, we use calculations and our own needs (Do I really need this person ?).
    Psychopaths can love you. It is very hard to achieve but we can. In our own way though.
    If you are having a friend or a relationship partner who is a psycho - dont even try to change them. It is not possible unless they want to. The thing that are happening in our mind are just different.
    My mother always hated this part of me. As a child I was extremely cruel and unstable. Always picking a fight everywhere I could. Never concentrated on school. I just did what I wanted. For years my parents were trying to convince me that I am their child and therefore I am a good, caring and loving person. Dont repeat this mistake. We are not. Just accept your psychopaths for what they are and think twice before doing something about it.

    I have a niece who has, unfortunately, morphed into a sociopath. Rejection from her father, because he lived in his own little passive-aggressive world, which was modeled to him by his mother. Nasty, vicious barbed attacks on her young (12-13) psyche. She now lives on the street and couldn't tell the truth to save her miserable life. So sad, 'cause she's so beautiful and talented and bright, but has completely capitulated to this street urchin mentality. She steals the food she eats, the clothes she wears and feels completely justified taking "just what [she] needs" and blames all of her issues on her mother, now. I will never see my niece again, even if she were to stop all of the deceits and thievery, I don't believe she will ever be anything close to whole and emotionally healthy. Makes me weepy every time I think about it.

      Weird to see someone like you self-diagnosing. Most of the people I've seen here was just elementary schoolers. Alright, here's the thing vrother. A sociopath is a fucking monster and is borderline insane. They would never EVER go to therapy on their own volition, not a single day in their life. You probably have some kind of impulse disorder, not sociopathy my dude. If you get diagnosed with ASPD somehow because you went and sought treatment, you will never even hope to get a job after that. Everyone will reject you. Anyways, good luck in the future vrother.
