      There is hope. Look at ISS program and now the Artemis program. Or LHC or ITER programs in atomic and particle Physics sector. All of humanity is gradually coming together.

      This sentence was more or less wrong... of course it is awesome that the NASA and SpaceX developed most of the entire process! But on the other hand many other countries from all over the world supported them and build new technology. As I know the Germans build and control one of the zoom cameras to create better environment pictures and so on. Poorly the ESA is not in a great spot thanks to poor political support from some countries, but likely especially SpaceX reactivated the old space-dream as I call it :)

    Real Fact: Ingenuity was one of the names submitted for the perseverance rover by a high school kid, later was named to the helicopter that was attached to the belly of the rover. The ingenuity helicopter is the first powered, controlled flight attempt by humans on another planet.

      @@Bycanroc well, it uses autonomous control for short flights but it will be telerobotically planned and scripted by controllers at JPL. It will communicate with the perseverance rover directly after each landing.

      no in the making of the software for the rover...they made a separate software which has the capabilities to control the drone...it is controlled by the rover watch mark rover's video on this

    I wish there was a real video and not just this animation. Why couldn't they record at least the final landing stage?
    Edit* Unfortunately we won't get any mars video footage. (I guess) The data would take way too long to be sent to earth. For instance, the Curiosity rover, which landed on Mars in 2012, can only send data back at 32 kilobytes per second.

      They actually did have various camera's recording it. However, the data connection from Earth to Mars is very slow so footage of the video landing is not available yet. It's still being "downloaded" to Earth.

      I don't think the bandwith signal is powerful enough to stream any decent quality footage from that distance. Maybe in future missions we'll have a relay orbiter to boost coms back home.

    With UAE and Chinese MARS missions being successful, i was hoping that you guys going to be just perfect. My chest was filled with pride seeing all three missions sent by humans reached MARS.       There will be a low framerate video of decent from under the rover I believe, it will take awhile to send all that data across and it is not their priority so maybe in a week?

    Congratulations NASA, I was holding my breath waiting for Perseverance’s landing!! When I was a teenager, back in the mid to late 1960’s, I dreamed of being an astronaut. I’ll still volunteer for a Mars manned flight - even though I am a great-grandma now!!
