    That was great. Never heard of the band, or the metal band that they came out of, but I will pay attention to them now.

    I often call myself a fan of Japanese jazz fusion in the comment section or others. But I don't often listen to music that sounds like such some improvisation battles, although it is not as intense as free jazz, sorry, ha. No, I like those songs that are like some solos battles with some insane rhythm / beats in the background, but, this is already a matter of my taste, lol... When I was young, I didn't have a lot of money and the albums were expensive, so I couldn't be greedy and want this or that.. I was very selective and bought what I liked the best... Now I can easily make the decisions to get this Kari band's album as well. It's a good time.
    So I did a little research on the band. It's so convenient to get information so easily now, that is good too, lol.
    '仮Band' (Kari Band, The 'Temporary' Band) is a fusion band formed in November 2015 by Mikio Fujioka(藤岡幹大), BOH, and Yuya Maeta(前田遊野). The song, 'Chuku' is on the band's first mini-album, '仮音源 -Demo-' (Kari on gen -demo-, The Tentative Sound Source -Demo-), released in April 2017. We can listen to a sample of the song on the Kari Band's YT channel. Mikio plays the guitar on this album version. This live video appears to be from a live stream in 2020 after Mikio's death, with his student, Satoshi Oka (岡聡志) on the guitar. The name of the song, Chuku, is a Japanese onomatopoeic word, and according to Mikio's interview article, and the song is cmposed by him, it is 'Chuku' because 'the guitar is chuk-chuk-chuking in the background', ha. So your pronunciation is correct. Mikio said he wanted to play the music he wanted to play, and he worked very hard to write a difficult song, haha. The other musicians guesting on this performance, are Yucco Miller (ユッコ ミラー) on the alto saxophone, and Tatsuya Nishiwaki (西脇辰弥) on keyboards. In the original video, it says he plays on the 'Chromatic Harmonica'. I also know EWI. In Japan, it is played by Takeshi Ito (伊東たけし), the front man of popular fusion band, 'T-Square' and is familiar to the instrumental fans in Japan. It seems that both Satoshi and Yucco are young musicians who are both popular and talented in Japan today. Tatsuya seems to be a veteran music producer and myusician in the Japanese pop rock scene.

    Can see everyone is at exceptionally well skilled at their instruments. Jazz is just one of the best technical backgrounds for musicians in my humblest opinion

      @@THEDavidHeretic didn’t know that, that awesome. Just seems to give musicians such dexterity and freedom to play outside norms

    I can't wait for you to check out "Samurai Groove". It's a great piece from Boh and the boys. The video for it can be found on the "King Records" channel.

    There is a comment video, more like an introduction video, from BOH and Yuya at the channel called JPU Records, about their recording of Kari Band with Friends. It's only 3 minutes 58 seconds, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

    One of Mikio's students playing guitar? A number of his students use the same whammy bar technique.

    Wow.. how could you count 13/8? That was the most impressive thing for me in the video. Hoenestly I counted it 7/4, which was wrong.

    • @THEDavidHeretic
      @THEDavidHeretic  Год назад +4

      You can count it as 4/4 with an extra eighth note...but that might feel REALLY awkward.
      You could count it as 6/8 and 7/8...which is basically what I did at first. After I locked in that it was 6/8 and 7/8, it added up to 13/8. From there on out, it just felt right to count it in 13/8 instead of 6/8 and 7/8.

      @@THEDavidHeretic Thank you for your explanation! Yes, I felt something is wrong when I count 7/4, but I couldn't realized what was the problem and how I correct it, and fell in confusion. I need more training.....

    I don't like this. It's the musical version of farting in jars and selling them. Sort of like that Meshuggah song everybody want to be so impressed with. Although, it's impressive that they annotated my last explosive diarrhea. Nope. This is not for me lol.
