- Sometimes, A.FLOOR and TOGA.LK can be displayed on your Airbus PFD. Why does it shows this and what does it mean?
Here is an explanation.

Happened to me for the first time on distracted approach to JFK yesterday. Did all the things you did and eventually worked out how to disconnect, pleased me but left me puzzled...like you a bit of reading and I worked it out, and then found your video, explains it perfectly. Thanks. All good fun learning and problem solving new things.
Glad that the video helped. Always good to learn new things.
Thanks for this. Day 4 or 5 working with the FBW. Absolutely loving it. Encountered this issue during a janky departure from KSMF. Pilot error of course. Still getting used to the aircraft. This helped.
Glad to have helped Kevin.
Just to add too, this protection is available without A/THR being on. It'll trigger and set TOGA thrust when in A/FLOOR regardless of A/THR being active or not.
just to add. mel stated no a/floor if autothrust under mel 😉
Hi Rusty!
Thank you so much for this explanation concerning the A.Floor mod on the PFD!! This was happening to me of course after take off... In fact, after viewing your video i realize that the A320 was near the stall.... i will be careful, in my next flights, not to pitch the plane too much, to avoid stall... So i hope that i will never more get this A.Floor alert!!! Thanks again !
You're welcome. On initial climb, pitch to around 15 degrees, then, if you still are flying manually after the first 2,000ft, I'd decrease to 10 degrees as you drop the thrust to the climb detent.
Thanks for the sharing!
Thanks, good explanation!
Thank you for help. I got this on the fly by wire version and didn't know how to deactivate it. The weird thing is that the AP got me there. I think it must have been the coffin corner.
Thanks for this! For a few days i've had trouble with the plane doing this when landing and it's driving me nuts!. Recent update has changed something with the TOGA system so i'm unsure if i am doing something wrong now whereas before i land absolutely fine. So i am going to check this now see if i can stop it. Or it could be a bug...will see!
Oh and i land generally between 150-140kts and disable auto thrust a few hundred feet before landing
You sir are a life saver
Glad to help
the red button on the throttle is the quick AP switch off function
Yep which is why it cancels the Alpha Floor message. :)
Hello, great information. When you say it, passing the red button, are you pressing both o them or just one on he captain side? Also, do you have any simple information how have to setting up wing-windows view? Thanks
Just the one on the Captains side.
Wing windows view... if you can navigate into the cabin yourself (internal cam), then you position the camera where you want it then press whatever key you have bound to saving a custom camera. There are 9-10 of them.
Then there are keys to show that camera.
e.g. Alt+1 to save the cam positon, CTRL+1 to view that camera position.
It's something like that, check your bindings.
If you can't get into the cabin yourself then try flightsim.to and look for a camera view file on there. Then you'll have to replace the camera.cfg file for that plane.
A. FLOOR / VLS :
What’s the relation between them?
Is A . FLOOR activates only when a/c at certain altitude ?
More details will be very helpful.
That's all I know at the moment :) I'm not an actual pilot and as I had this issue, I thought I'd try and help others who may have it. Google might have the answers but I've not looked it up.
Just to nit pick, you haven't quite got it right regarding what TOGA lock is.
This is a state after A/FLOOR whereby you are no longer in Alpha protection, but the A/THR maintains TOGA. TOGA has been commanded already when in A/FLOOR and cannot be disengaged until you've sped up to a speed that has you out of Alpha protection. TOGA thrust can be disconnected when in TOGA lock but not in A/FLOOR. Hope that made sense.
I got a blinking A-Lock in the Engine Display and my autopilot will not engage! what does that mean?
It means the autopilot first needs to be disengaged.
In the Airbus you can do that by pressing the red button on the side of the throttles. Or whatever keybind you have assigned for that function.
Then adjust the plane so it's flying within parameters it is comfortable with. Not too high speed and not too high pitch. Then re-engage autopilot.
5:20 y didn't this mechanism kick in in the airfrance 447 flight?
No idea 9LimaAlpha7. I'll have to read about it.
what about A- lock
It didn't come up.
