I was out in my cloud peak 2 on West coast of Scotland recently in constant rain and very strong winds. It coped with it all no bother apart from the noise from top cap section. Not a drip of water got in. Just watch for drips falling into bathtub off the top door section when tent open in wet weather! Another top tip is to wrap guy lines around poles a couple of times before pegging down. It helps with stability and puts less strain on guy fixing loops. Nice video mate👍
I don't wash my pegs but do have a small cloth to give them a quick wipe off & keep any soil off my hands. Also have a very small carabiner to clip the pegs together so not to lose any, handy for setting tent up. Clip onto belt loop & your not looking for that last peg that has fallen into long grass
Cloud Peak 2 is a true two person tent and palatial for one. Great vestibule space for cooking and storage. It stood up to a night of very heavy gusts in the Cheviot Hills on my last night of the Pennine Way. I've had mine for three years and would definitely recommend it.
I got both. The Taiji 2 is airy, but tends to collect more condensation here in humid Malaysia. Cloud Up 2, is nice and taut when camping at windy campsites.. I like the 2 zips on the doors.. always open the top zip halfway at night to let more air in, and also for cross ventilation..
I have just come back from my first camping trip (camp site haha) and have to say no pegs were washed and I would kill for a bigger tent bag. I practiced packing it up at home but it was a different story with all that rain on the tent, grass, everywhere, and pressure of time to get it done in time to depart. I ended up with stuffing the inner seperately into a bag my friend had spare:) What a morning! But great holiday otherwise
The thing is with all these tents is that your average tent, and this applies to most kit too, is designed to work in average conditions. If you're doing average camping, then most of the kit will serve you well, and it's when it doesn't that it becomes noteworthy. If on the other hand you're heading up Snowden/Ben Nevis (or whatever in your strange and exotic lands you happen to live in) in early January, you might want to look to more specialised products. I think the important points are to be aware of what you're going to be doing, what budget you have, and the correlation between those and the kit available. Or, good review there Ben, Cheers 👍

Great review, I prefer the cloud peak - up! bit beefier, 2 way zip to vent cooking and bigger vestibule for said cooking. I have a 1 person bomb shelter for nasty stuff. but am looking for more space/headroom in a tent that will still take a beating - thanks.
I just spent the Jubilee holiday in Fort William, Scotland - Ben Nevis ascent. I bought the Cloud Peak 2 after lots of YT research. Very happy with it. If there is one thing I would immediately change is to change the grey guy lines for bright orange/yellow ones. I had to wrap orange cloth around a few of mine to stop the kiddies in neighbouring tents from running over them. It's a perfectly roomy tent for 1, great for airflow to open both doors. Quality construction, east to setup/strike. Can'y comment on weather holding as it was clear blue skies all 4 days.
I have a Cloud Peak 2 and it does pack much more easily if the poles and pegs are separated. My only change is to have the rain cap fixed by bungee to two of the pole clips on the fly sheet. It saves time and also stops it being blown away when erecting or repacking the tent. It also means that less water gets in if erecting when it's raining. My only addition to the tent are pieces of Tyvec for the vestibules so I can get stuff off wet grass/ground.
Thank you for another helpful video. I love seeing Ruby btw. I used to take my whippet Meg camping until she passed on. Oh yes, I'm a peg washer. I can't help it. I need everything clean before it gets packed away.

I have the older t-door version of the cloud peak in the 15d (blue) fabric. Really liked that pocket, as I could just stash everything they normally would float around the tub in there.
I've got 2022 version, it has that larger pocket you are suggesting. It's very handy and out the way! Love the CP2 although flappy hat annoys me in the wind sometimes
Cheers for the shout out Ben. I also did some mods to the cloud peak 2 which is on the channel as well. Good comparison video. I think you should do more singing in your videos 😜
So, 4 months on, which is your go to tent? One of these two or something completely different. Looking to get a new tent soon and probably wont need one for snow but a bit of wind and rain. It is the UK after all. Have seen other reviewers that have found the Taiji 2 can leak a bit on the inner clips but then others saying the Cloud Peak 2 is a bit flappy in the wind at the top so not sure which to get haha Any ideas?
Hi Tim, my choice of the two would be the Taiji. BUT that's because I have a Helm 1 for any bad weather/windy camps. If I had to choose one tent I'd go for the Cloud Peak. But who wants just one tent??? 😆
@@daleyoutdoors Haha that's is a very good point, I have 7 of various different sizes but my small two person tent isn't up to much so it is nearly time for a new one. Oh, and ain't nobody got time to wash their pegs surely? I give them a quick run against each other to get the bulk of dirt off and just bag them :)
Hi , I have just bought a Cloud Peak 2 using the discount code at Collings Outdoors but when I paid it went to an Asian ( I think Chinese) payment option, would this be right or should I be concerned? I have never used Collings Outdoors before. Thanks.
Doesn't sound right. I think they only use Paypal for payments (could be wrong but it's all I've used). It's Collins not Collings - collinsoutdoors.com/
@@daleyoutdoors Haha well id hope others would do their own research as well! YKK zips are a big selling point for some of us, though. Busted zippers make useless tents :D
I thought the 3F UL was 1.8kg?? Still don't understand how you packed both those tents in what looks like quite a small rucksack. I'd rather have seen you opening your bag to take them both out
They claim it is 1.8. Some manufacturers exclude pegs and bags etc. I always quote weights off my scales and include everything. On this vid the NatureHike tent was in the bag it comes with. I always pack the Taiji with poles separate and the tent itself compressed into a 10l dry bag.
@@daleyoutdoors excellent. I have 4 labs, but the youngest is now 3 so supposedly a bit grown up and less puppy-like although I wonder really at times!
The video made me even more confused, but you have nothing to do with it, it’s more about the tents. Firstly, the length of these tents is shorter than advertised. Can't they make it 220 cm? Secondly, the mesh is killing me. Why not remove it completely in a 4 season tent, etc. etc.
CP2 has one disadvantage, in strong wind is not very stable, because upper cover works as wing - lot of noise and vibrations. Tent was tested with 30m/s wind in Patagonia. For Taijii i propose strong condensate problems.
I’ve never had any condensation in the Taiji. It has vents in both sides. I can imagine the CP2 cap a ring as a kite/wing though. I haven’t tried mine in wind yet 👍
onewind camo quilt protector makes a better roof hat for the cloudpeak2 n tames that green if trying t blend in lol pity naturehike dont do whole tent in onewinds camo lol
Two great budget tents tbf, well worth the money. Absolutely not true 4 season tents though. Fair weather tents that won't mind a gust or two but there's no way you'd summit camp in either of these with any confidence.
There was something in the air that day. For some reason I started calling the tent a Cloud Up half way through 🤦♂️ Apologies for the singing too 😆

I have the older t-door version of the cloud peak in the 15d (blue) fabric. Really liked that pocket, as I could just stash everything they normally would float around the tub in there.
Pretty sure it’s just the one small pocket. I’ll double check on my next camp.
@@daleyoutdoors it's not at floor level, but the mesh portion of the wall, the entire width and about 20cm deep
Mine has the pocket you're talking about and I purchased it four months ago
I've got 2022 version, it has that larger pocket you are suggesting. It's very handy and out the way! Love the CP2 although flappy hat annoys me in the wind sometimes
Just back from a camping trip on the West coast of Scotland. When I got home yesterday. I washed my pegs... Oops 😂
😮no way! 😂
I had the cloud up2 and sold it I wish I hadn't 👍🏻
Cheers for the shout out Ben. I also did some mods to the cloud peak 2 which is on the channel as well. Good comparison video. I think you should do more singing in your videos 😜
No worries mate. Yeah I saw your Cloud Peak vid today 😆 👍
@@daleyoutdoors don't think I've ever had a tent that I haven't modded! 🤣
Hi mate, what compression sack would you recommend for the Naturehike CP2?
Any 15l one really. Just a cheap Amazon one will do the trick 👍
Will the Osprey Ultralight 20L Dry Sack work?
@@daleyoutdoors
And would you just stuff it in, in any way?
Yes that’ll be fine.
What about doing a review on the naturehike mongar 2
It’s on the list mate 👍
@@daleyoutdoors will keep a look out for the video thanks
So, 4 months on, which is your go to tent? One of these two or something completely different. Looking to get a new tent soon and probably wont need one for snow but a bit of wind and rain. It is the UK after all.
Have seen other reviewers that have found the Taiji 2 can leak a bit on the inner clips but then others saying the Cloud Peak 2 is a bit flappy in the wind at the top so not sure which to get haha
Any ideas?
Hi Tim, my choice of the two would be the Taiji. BUT that's because I have a Helm 1 for any bad weather/windy camps. If I had to choose one tent I'd go for the Cloud Peak. But who wants just one tent??? 😆
@@daleyoutdoors Haha that's is a very good point, I have 7 of various different sizes but my small two person tent isn't up to much so it is nearly time for a new one.
Oh, and ain't nobody got time to wash their pegs surely? I give them a quick run against each other to get the bulk of dirt off and just bag them :)
I would like to point out that the Cloud Up 2 and the Cloud Peak 2 are two different tents ,apart from that another great video . atb
Yes they are - a mental blip as I said in the description and pinned comment 😆
Hi , I have just bought a Cloud Peak 2 using the discount code at Collings Outdoors but when I paid it went to an Asian ( I think Chinese) payment option, would this be right or should I be concerned? I have never used Collings Outdoors before. Thanks.
Doesn't sound right. I think they only use Paypal for payments (could be wrong but it's all I've used). It's Collins not Collings - collinsoutdoors.com/
If it's the confirmation screen you'll be fine. The owner of the site is based in China.
I believe you forgot to mention that the Taiji 2 has YKK zips whereas the Cloud peak 2 doesnt I believe. That's a big difference, imo
Apologies. I'll try harder next time 🫡
@@daleyoutdoors Haha well id hope others would do their own research as well!
You’ll see it on this video ruclips.net/video/jNBphROGCoE/видео.html
Loving Ruby....more videos with her please
She’ll be getting dragged along a lot more now it’s warmer 👍
@@daleyoutdoors excellent. I have 4 labs, but the youngest is now 3 so supposedly a bit grown up and less puppy-like although I wonder really at times!
ok hivemind q for ya... cloud peak 2 ideas pls t stop footprint n tent floor slippin about like a skating rink across each other ,,
Try some silicone dots between them?
Never wash my pegs anymore, just knock em on the tree and scrape out any extra dirt i can remove
Taji £192 in August. Now that's inflation!
That’s crazy! 😬
The video made me even more confused, but you have nothing to do with it, it’s more about the tents. Firstly, the length of these tents is shorter than advertised. Can't they make it 220 cm? Secondly, the mesh is killing me. Why not remove it completely in a 4 season tent, etc. etc.
The Cloud peak looks a differ😢ent class to the other one, which looks kind if feeble.
It’s definitely stronger. Depends what kind of camping you’re doing really.
I just pop my pegs in the washing machine along with my dog when she needs a scrub up…..😂
Good tip! 😆
@@daleyoutdoors was out for to days and when I pulled pegs for Jenny to pack l did think wish I had a stiff brush…..
onewind camo quilt protector makes a better roof hat for the cloudpeak2 n tames that green if trying t blend in lol pity naturehike dont do whole tent in onewinds camo lol
I am a peg washer, don't want all that gritty crap in my bag
Actually lost it at Ruby 🤣 poor girl was thirsty
She sure was 😆
Two great budget tents tbf, well worth the money. Absolutely not true 4 season tents though. Fair weather tents that won't mind a gust or two but there's no way you'd summit camp in either of these with any confidence.
The Sierra meteor 2 3000 destroys both of these in terms of quality and value for money!
I haven’t tried one out yet so I wouldn’t know.
;) please stop making these videos, I already have 3 tents and a hammock and have visited Collins Outsoors site 3 times this week.
Sorry Steve 😆
I found collinsoutdoors are good prices better Amazon a lot
Bought a lanshan1 and the packaging is good
