Any balance interview with pro protoss players except Harstem?? I think the balance discussion is urgently needed after having the patch implemented for some time now.
I like how when balance is brought up, he first says protoss could need a stabilisation buff. And then when he talks about the top ranking players, when he is talking about his own results vs hero, he says 'hero just messed up' and he deserves to win cuz hero messed up with the race that could require stabilisation?? Hero messed up because its there is no room for error for toss, and user error is literally the pinnacle of the issues with protoss' stability (read balance). Lose 1 tech unit, and you are basically out, even early game losing a few stalkers literally means protoss has no shot in defending specific 2 base allin timings. (considering raven pushes got a slight nerf because it was SO vital to not be able to instantly lose your first tech units and get stomped.) Yet terran is allowed to do widow mine drops with 0 actuall cost to macro or tech, they are allowed to lose multiple medivacs filled with marines througout the game while dealing no damage for the sake of balance and still be in a comfy macro position. When protoss simply does not have that luxury. Zerg can also lose tons of lings and roaches from early to late because mineral wise its just so easily replacable. The same can be said with mineral line harrass, protoss just is the race where losing workers is the most crucial and expensive, because protoss does not have mule like mechanics wich can fill in blind spots for missing workers, or instantly rebuild multiple drones cuz of how larvae work. the units protoss has are also way more expensive earlier in the game to properly counteract it. Protoss has chronoboost, the worst 'racial' ability in game. Because it speeds up, not instantly able to recreate like a dozen drones at once or dropping a mule or 2. (wich is why widow mines are such an effective unit in the game vs P) it takes much more time for a protoss to get back on levelling resources and production. Because protoss also requires more workers then other races due to cost of units and tech. chronoboost however is mandatory for timings with getting collosi out, blink, and it used to be also an issue with forge upgrades. Take blink for example; blink has been nerfed to such an extent in the past it literally takes twice as long to research, over other races upgrades. (charge was always a faster upgrade, but it wasnt twice as fast as is now). This kind of nerf means you literally have to dump perma chronoboost into it to get the relatively samish timings as before. Wich also defeats the purpose of rebuilding workers with chronoboost, or having proper reactionary choices with chrono, when its just not available, due to doubling of energy cost to chronoboost when lotv released (it used to cost 25 energy to chrono wich current is at 50). Stabilisation buff for toss as the game is right now, would mean, cost decrease across the board, while lowering dps, buildtime and supply of all units. so protoss is allowed to actually lose units and still be in a running spot. Also rework of chronoboost, so it costs less energy on workers then it does on structures could alleviate the losses of workers. (collosi example, cost reduction to require less gas and minerals to build, less build timing in the robo, and less heavy on supply. while requiring 3 collosi instead of what 2 used to do.) This would change the dynamic of losing tech units to be less detrimental for toss, and allows toss to create the same strenght in army as they do now, but with more forgiving mechanics (getting your first collosi matrixed at a timing matters way less when you have 3 instead of 2) Because its clear, protoss cannot have the high tech extremely powerfull units, because people dislike fighting vs deathballs. They dont understand army compositions, and dont want to react, scout and counter the units, with focus firing of specific hotkey groups onto the countered. So instead the game meta devolved into permanently focus on killing off workers. Because thats protoss big achilles heel in the current state of the game. Tax APM as a metric for skill. Because thats what the game boils down to if deathballs arent a thing. Mass expanding in macro games so building workers speeds up because you have more nexi and losing them is less vital. (or just do a cheap allin). But then again, i think terrans and zerg are comfortable with protoss not having a fighting chance in tournaments. Because what is easier to learn? prepping for a tournament vs 2 races, or 3. So ofcourse they would rather ignore protoss outcries and balance suggestions. Instead they try to make protoss worse, in terms of cost decreasing and showing to the world its buffing and balancing units, while stealth nerfing them like the mothership (no energy means u cannot recall twice, health nerf, and ofc the removal of cloaking (wich actually plays a detrimental role in lategames vs Z. buffing units specifically against toss when toss is already in a losing position is also not unheard of anymore. (read cyclone changes) You dont see Cristiano Ronaldo changing up the rules for soccer either, because it would always favour his playing style. Yet that exactly is what pros have been doing with starcraft? Lol.

you don't need to be a huge publisher to put millions of dollars into prize money, if you have a game that's made even a hundred million, in some ways, it should be easier for a smaller company that doesn't have to justify expenditures to shareholders.
