      Carlo Alberto
      True pal.
      It's like what about mass murderers parents?
      (Just a hypothetical comparison, seeing as both a young kid with a foul mouth and a mass murderer or criminal do share the same faith or rather impact on the general opinion of random strangers.
      It's people calling out and blaming the parents and family for the perpetrators behaviour first, in order to understand how they became like that, instead of using their mind and rationally analyzing all factors before accusing anyone, which should be the normal case, but isn't.)
      Ted Bundy for example.
      Should his parents be held responsible for what their kid decided to do in his life, despite giving him the best possible parenting and granting almost all aspects of life and him having absolutely no trouble in his childhood and youth and most importantly not showing any serious character traits of a possible maniac throughout his young age?!
      We all know that he became one of the most notorious mass killer in human history, but his parents definitely weren't at fault.
      This is just hypocrisy at it's finest, if people always witchhunt the parents or family members of a criminal or a stupid idiot, who makes racist or rather controversial comments and expects the world to comfort him or her, instead of rationally arguing about all possibilities, but if something similar happened to their family they would be outraged and couldn't understand why others think this way.
      Look at the perpetrator first not at his folks, as most of them had a very good life before snapping into madness...

What I'm not so sure is whether she was realizing that he is not only a player in a game but also an actual person - something even adult fans often seem to fail to understand. I think she did it out of an emotion and because of that it was good that she got kicked out as that hopefully made her reflect on what she did and how it effected the player.

      Of course, the 13 years old girl is responsible for her action. It doesn't matter if she yells out racist slur or steals a pen. She need to be responsible. However, the point is that, at her age, she is highly influenced by her environment. I think if someone is NOT a racist as an adult (say age 40), then this someone will be unlikely turn into a racist just because his roommate is racist. At age 13 however,.... you can start off as a non-racist, but easily pressured into adapting racist behavior.

      In any case if the sound pressure wave are decoded to thought patterns arising in ones head then the brain can make an interpretation as to the meaning being conveyed. Now if the statement is criticism it can be ONE of TWO things *TRUE* or *FALSE* if true thank the person who sent the message and vow to do something to resolve the issue, if false then it can be dismissed, *where is the compulsion to compound being criticized with getting upset* I don't get it, why allow the other person to manipulate you into giving away your happiness, even if the criticism is TRUE why get upset, how does it help??

      I reckon if you asked her now she still wouldn't know why it's considered racist. Remember a very prominent footballer and now media personality is referred to as a gorilla. All because he is big, and muscly the shape of a gorilla and grumpy. Has nothing to do with his skin colour because he's white. I can nearly guarantee she was referring to his appearance (not racist) rather than using it as a slur indicating that he is less than human because of the colour of his skin (racist).

      Hemant Kuruva well if you talking about an Englishmen then no but if you are talking about europeans as in people who live on a continent which is connected by land not by sea then you are right but if are saying Englishmen then all I have to say is Australia as a country was created by the English so to say a nomadic race that didn’t care about anything but their tribe to care about anything Else other then their tribe is a bit stupid

    • @hemant111
      @hemant111 6 лет назад +36

      Dan Jacob I have to say that your statement "Australia as a country was created by the English" is wrong. A political system, with set laws to be followed by its countrymen and a leader at the helm, is a way of bettering the country and its people. But, the human race existed on Australia even before English explored it and occupied it. Aborigines just didn't have this political system. When a more powerful foreign tribe (English), invades a land that doesn't belong to them (Australia), it is an obligation for them to make sure that they not only integrate the natural owners of the land (Indigenous) into the new system, but also to do it with respect. Instead, what happens, is a GENOCIDE. I repeat, the Indigenous people of any place are the real owners of that land and that any foreign body replacing them, and also, disrespecting them is nothing less than committing a war crime.

    • @danjacob6635
      @danjacob6635 6 лет назад

      Hemant Kuruva you wrong because the English name it Australia and made the laws and Government so to say people lived on before the English arrived and name it Australia is saying you are wrong but since you know Australia more than a Australian who’s Family has been living here for nine generations is wrong is saying something and you would have some Point if you know what Aborigines called the Country but you aren’t gonna find a thing because they didn’t because they were not that Advance because they were nomadic tribes who killed people who were not in their tribe.ps it was not a genocide because they are alive and they are known

    • @hemant111
      @hemant111 6 лет назад +33

      Dan Jacob You didn't understand my comment Jacob. Read it again, I nowhere said Aborigines named it Australia and nowhere said that they created the laws of land too. I said just because English conquered it and made laws doesn't deny the fact that the land naturally belongs to Aborigines. Just by giving the conquered land a name and creating laws doesn't give any moral ground for English to call that land theirs when it actually belonged to the Aborigines for the last 65,000 years before English conquered it.

    • @hemant111
      @hemant111 6 лет назад +15

      Dan Jacob Genocide doesn't really mean that it should result in a complete wiping of a race. Any attempt to kill a large number of people belonging to a particular ethnic group counts as a genocide. It didn't happen just with Australia, it happened with US, Canada and many other countries too. I do know that Aborigines are alive. But I believe that they deserve respect more than hatred for lending you the land to live on.

I was the same way as a teenager, never about race, but still occasionally offensive just for the reaction. Couldn't have said it better. Your parents sound just like my dad was when I was growing up and I remember calling him out on it as young as the age of 11. I also had a go at some kids at school for being racist to the only black girl in our class when I was about 5 or 6 - because even though I didn't even understand racism - I knew they were picking on her and she was upset. People don't give children enough credit. Most know right from wrong at a VERY early age and at 13 they DEFINITELY know shouting racist remarks at someone is wrong. Even if they're brought up with parents like that, if she went to school or had interaction with the outside world in any way - she knew what she did was wrong. It's weird how people defend her for being a 'child'. In less than 3 years she's old enough to have a job, become a mother, live alone, get married and so on. She's 13, not 3! There are kids her age who've been tried as an adult for *murder.* So she was perfectly capable of being held responsible for her actions.

The girl's father may have left the family home for a variety of reasons but even if he was still at home, he may not have been the one to teach the girl, directly or indirectly, her racist attitudes. I hope that clarifies my earlier comment.

Unfortunately in Australia, racism isn't spoken about as frequently as it should, so there's quite a lot of ignorance when it comes to indigenous Australians

      "Why apologize only after being shamed?"
      Well, she couldn't very well apologize before or during being shamed considering she was shamed immediately after making the statement, being called out and kicked out of the event on live television, and apologizing to a guy far away in a stadium full of people would've probably gone unnoticed.
      "Just a child, product of her environment.... nothing but excuses!"
      Well yes, but actually no. Influence of bigoted and racist ideas and rhetoric are definitely a product of your environment, unless you believe people are born with racist ideas and rhetoric, which I'll assume you don't since I think you're intelligent enough to know how stupid that would be. And the thing about age is that it really means nothing while you're still developing, and underdevelopment along with influence from outside factors (parents, media, ect) can cause children to do and say things with no awareness or regard as to how what they say and do effects those of those around them.
      I'm not defending what she said. It was stupid on her part and she was punished for it, but putting the blame on the kid for an action that was likely influenced by her parents isn't very productive.

When he realised how he had hurt my feelings he immediately apologised, the guilt was all over his face.

Whether she is pretty, not attractive, fat, skinny etc it doesn't make any difference. Just because someone does something wrong doesn't mean they can be attacked for issues that have nothing to do with the wrongdoing they committed. What she did was bad enough and she was reprimanded accordingly. Her parents should feel ashamed, but, her looks are not an issue at all. You and everyone else don't have the green light to pick apart her looks.

      Adam Silva *"words have consequences"* yes unfortunately our society is still very immature, hopefully we will evolve. Most people agree that the goal of life is to be happy, right? So I ask you is there anything that someone could say to you that would manipulate you into giving up your joy and happiness in life? I'm serious. You don't have to let people do that as Adam did...
      There isn't anything you or anyone could say to me that will ruffle my feathers. This hypersensitive culture is caustic everyone is on a hair trigger, we are just all to ready to give away our happiness over sound pressure waves... Let me use an example, If you visit a mental health institute where they care for those with mental illness and these institutionalized people start calling you horrible names, accusing you of being a murderer, and your mother a female dog.....etc, you know what I mean, do you take offense? Personally I do not because these people are sick, this is how I view the entire world's population. I hope you understand? Be peaceful and let the mentally ill(13yr old girl, Adam Goodes, me etc) ramble....lol

      veganath I agree that society is often over sensitive, and has developed some kind of 'right to not be offended' mentality. You know, typical SJW bs. But on the other hand words do have some power since it is often a reflection of your personality or your intentions. For example, this girl calling him an ape is likely a reflextion of her perhaps racist upbringing. Which is not okay. Which needs to be resolved.

    • @veganath
      @veganath 6 лет назад

      Adam *"words do have some power"* only if you allow them! This is where we need to focus, desensitize people using reason, develop compassion for those who feel the need to attempt to denigrate others, imagine the mind they have to live with. How often have you heard others despair saying they can't live with themselves, WHO is it THEY can't live with it seems their are two personalities themselves and the one they can't live with. Begin to emphasis that happiness is not something we should give others permission to rob us of as Adam did. I would also say that as with all fields of human endeavor we need to quell BS(Bad Science;) and research what factors produce happiness and the flourishing of human, animal & environmental well-being and what factors produce as demonstrated from this 13yr olds outburst anger and therefore aberrant behavior. The end outcome of 'anger' being responded with more anger is violence and unnecessary physical suffering, this can't be solved without love and compassion.

Plenty of kids younger than 13 watch their parents say and do things that are inappropriate and the expressions on their faces are full of shame and embarrassment. I’m glad she was escorted out. She was crying the same tears of embarrassment that she intended for the soccer player to feel.

I'm serious. You don't have to let people do that as Adam did... There isn't anything you or anyone could say to me that will ruffle my feathers. This hypersensitive culture is caustic everyone is on a hair trigger, just all to ready to give away their happiness over sound pressure waves...

      veganath Basic human rights dictate that we all are to be treated as human beings by other human beings. It’s not about what degree of “joy” is acceptable to be trampled on before we find a decrease in our “joy” or how much we can tolerate. As human beings we all deserve to be treated equally with dignity, privacy, liberty,security,fairness under the law,freedom of religion and freedom from discrimination... I can’t judge Adam’s level of joy or anyone else’s level of tolerance. I’m just making the point that we deserve no less than to be treated like a human being with basic human rights. The 13 year old justly suffered the consequences of her actions.

    Goodes wasn’t aware of her age when he called her out. He regretted singling her out to some extent, I think. Nevertheless, indigenous football players have been subjected to a lot of racist slurs while being good at their job and shouldn’t have to tolerate it, no matter how old people are. Goodes is one of the all time greats but this incident (along with a couple of others) had a massive mental health toll upon the award winning player. Australia, at the time at least, had strict vilification laws which means you can’t go to a public event and call out racist epithets. It still happens, of course, but it is, technically, somewhat illegal.
