Great. I play mostly on synthetic grass (Aus) and it's nice to have some tips tailored to faster surfaces ... much of the coaching content on YT is geared towards the US and the hard court market, or otherwise clay.
Great video Ash❤
Great video, your content has been so good recently 👏 your channel deserves an award❤
Thanks Coach Ashley! amazing! master class my friend 🙏 as Ian suggested I WILL make these changes and practice! 😉
This was great! Also would love to see similar for slower surfaces :-)
Noted! Thanks for watching!
As well as Grass courts which is my favourite service I played Hard courts for 20 years
Most important thing in sport but particularly tennis is Footwork
1 split Steps
2 unit Turn
3 loading
When your volleying you lead with your contact Foot your weight comes from the back foot
Learn how to hit a topspin and A flat shot too total different shots all together Footwork totally different
How to play on slow service
1 Do your split steps you can use bigger split steps than a grass court
2 when your at the back of the court
Move int I the CV out to hit the first ball then move your feet back into the static position so you won't hit the next ball late
3 use semi western Grip for the Heavy topspin and it works all the time use continental for the Flat ball it also works .
The key is learning how to play the point as you get alot of Rallies
If a topspin or kick serve doesn't kick up your not doing it right
When you hitvacflat ball hit down the line move forward into the net
5 Also hold the racket loose
Relax relax relax
In slow surface tennis you come across pluggers
How to beat the pluggers
1 Hit the first ball deep heavy top spin
2 Repeat
3 hit the ball Flat down the line
4 move forward to the net
5 Do your split steps hold the racket loose put the volley away
Option 2
1 Hit the first ball with heavy topspin
If you bend low with unit turn you get a heavy top spin it jump up at your opponent it take him 6 seconds to hit that
2 As soon as you hit that top spin
Move into the net
3 Put the volley away
Other options
Use inside forehand move into the net
Tennis is like playing Chess
I call this the 1/2 punch
Hit the first ball cross court
Next ball down the line
Use Slice serve and side spin serve on all surfaces
Amazing content! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Great tips Ash!
Thanks buddy!
I was brought up on grass
As well as the 5 tips which our spot on
Tip 6 you use small steps
7 use the drop shot
8 Use inside forehand movex in to the net
Great video Ashley! too bad that according to Ian from Essential Tennis is not going to help me improve 😭😂✌️
Haha… I saw that one 😅
I have another super tactic for all surfaces but particularly grass even a coach asked me how do I do that
1 when the ball comes to me
Hold the racket with an open face then hit down on the ball it will go to the opponents feet
You get into the net it's lethal
I used to practice on a grass court and hard court for 5 hours a day when I was a Junior
1 Serve and Volley for an hour every day
2 How to approach the net he 3 fjat forehand
4Drop shots it' another if my land mark shots learnt it in a grass
4 alot more
Tennis is a progression not a sprint
Can you do a bag check it will really help me to see what I need to pack thanks
Thanks Ashley
You’re welcome Javi!
Excellent video
Other good suggestions of videos
Side spin serve
Ball toss
Getting your drive in your legs
Thanks! I’ll add slice serves to the list… I’ve done the other two 😊
Can this tip help on a synthetic court?
Absolutely! Synthetic courts or fast hard courts too!
