Lee Jung-Jae has been putting in an Incredible performance as Master Sol in the Acolyte and this moment really showed off his amazing acting skill but sadly it was undercut by one of the shows goofier elements. Развлечения
Sol seemed to figure out Mae's deception on his own eventually too, so Bazel's little side plot of being able to tell that it's not Osha was totally pointless. He basically only served to provide comic relief and recharge the little droid.
They're setting Bazil and Pip up to matter in some way later on. In a silly way, but I think that much is obvious. Hence why Bazil is crawling around in maintenance tubes under the deck plating when Mae is heading back into the cockpit, and why Pip is on her person.
I'm pretty sure after Sol stuns Mae, the camera pans down to reveal Bazil, implying Bazil was able to tell Sol that Mae was Osha.
@@hamish5011The only one who understands Basil's language is Yod.
@hamish5011 No. To me that scene meant that Bazil witnessed what Sol did and went into hiding, which probably means that he will keep spying on Sol and find out the truth. Or at least I hope. I may be complety wrong though.
Sol figured out who Mae was by the way she treated Pip…who was there because Bazel rescued and recharged him. Bazel was ultimately the reason Mae was quickly discovered.
That fit of anger from Sol really shows his frustration from losing all the Jedi comrades he went with along with losing Kelnaca and him venting even briefly is quite human compared to most of his peers where he was not about to hold back how he felt about that disaster.
A
Especially when Jecki got killed.
@@davidchism6081And Yord. The deaths of those two really broke him
It makes him so relatable! It also has a huge contrast with e.g. Vernestra, whose indifference and coldness regarding the deaths was infuriating. Even Yoda, the wisest and most stoic Jedi showed compassion, sadness and grief when needed.
I hope the story writers won't make Sol fall to the Dark Side. That would be very cliché and also would have a terrible message (being human is bad, it leads to the Dark Side no matter what). I think he's just a very sensitive person who cares a lot, even if maybe a bit too much. I want a Jedi who finally faces his own darkness, contains and owns this shit. That would make Sol into one of the most powerful Jedi ever.
I can see him being the scapegoat at worst, sacrificing himself to save the twins/attempting to bring the truth forth at best.
@@sinistra7450 If they make Sol fall to the dark side then The Acolyte by then certainly does deserve that whatever percent audience score because that is cliche and certainly destroys the character that is Sol and one of few likeable Jedi Masters introduced in the Lucasfilm Star Wars universe.
I can kind of see Vernestra covering up the whole thing but at the same time knowing Sol he'll go as far to save Mae and Osha compared to before where he wasn't able to. At the end of the day we know the Jedi Order doesn't know about the pseudo Sith let alone a former Jedi practicing the ways of the Sith by the time Phantom Menace starts. Meaning Sol likely dies taking Qimir and the truth with him and Vernestra who later comes to find Qimir and Sol dead calls the case closed.
Lee Jung Jae and Manny Jacinto have been carrying this entire show on their backs.
Yep. Looks like these 2 are the only members of the cast who have ever taken acting classes.
Sol's going to be made into the scapegoat.
I was guessing the same thing... Sol will be blamed, tried and punished... and the "Sith" will remain hidden.
@@jerrogs Vernastra is sketch as well.
@@forcesmuggler7667 Vernestra was Qimir's master.
That's if Sol makes out of this alive.😂
@@jerrogsMy guess : Venestra, revealed as Darth Something, will kill them all and then summoned to the high Jedi council for debriefing, where she will blame Sol in front of Yoda (😁). "Master Yoda, I'm afraid master Sol lost his mind... ". "Good job master Venestra, you deserve to sit at Jedi Council". "Oh it's an honor master Yoda, you know how I love Jedi values as much as I love democracy".
I thought it was funny how Bazil was only there because they needed a tracker to find Kelnacca. Then when the rescue party came, they knew exactly where they were going.
While we I agree the tracker bit in its entirety is stupid and should have been cut (except the plush tracker should be a highly marketable item) it makes sense that it is harder to find someone living in the woods than it I to track 8 people who brazenly go into the woods without trying to hide their path, and possibly even leaving markings to make their return trip to the ship easier.
They could also probably sense the place where the battle happenes, but I agree it was a bit weird. Especially when it looked like it took them some time to get there in episode 4
It’s a classic Star Wars trope like it or not… basically the whole reason for JarJar.
I mean if you are one of five people who have never seen Lee Jung Jae's performance as Gi Hun in Squid Game, you need to see him. The man just never misses when he's on camera.

And yes Lee did a great job on playing Sol really well.
Don’t worry, we’ll most likely find out next week in episode 7. It’s shaping up to be a flashback episode, probably told from Sol or one of the 4 Jedi’s perspective since Sol is about to talk to Mae.

I think Vernestra Rwoh was Quimir's master who "tossed him aside".. that scar on his back how it's all shaped could have been done by her lightsaber whip... also why she seems a bit sus and invested in finding out..maybe she has a feeling it's him.
Very interesting theory!
Also my current theory.
Loved that moment. The acting was great. I also loved how after that bit of frustration and anger, it’s like he took a moment to meditate and collect himself to do the task at hand. Definitely some great face acting.
Glad the light whip is a bug zapper
@@tanisparker1282 it also seems like it was the same thing that gave Qimir the scar he has on his back
@@KingShibe Oh, you might be onto something!
What is really different to see is the amount of fear and doubt coming from Jedis in this show. Sol and Vernestra in particular. It’s pretty clear they are hiding some dark $#!T that they aren’t proud of. Sol escaping right before the rescue party gets there. Wow!
Sol getting the heck out of dodge before things go out of control any further.
I think he heads to the Jedi Council in secret and tries to tell the truth. He escapes Vernestra because he knows she wouldn't allow him to speak. But he won't get to the Council of course or if he does, noone's gonna believe him.

That Sol moment was fire. I just so wish we cared more about the other characters as much but sadly the twins character story n depth is poor too much greyness
I genuinely like Sol because he acknowledged his own feelings. Jedi philosophy is basically suppress them or ensure you never have them which is why the end up idol. Serenity is all well and good but life and the force are not serene.
Sol feels his feelings, accepts them and tries to work through them, which is healthier and fits with him being more ready to take action than Vernastra.
sol is the gem of this show brah
I think Sol knew it was Mae from the moment he saw her in the forest, he just played along until he had a change of heart and decided to go off the record with whatever he’s planning.

So your making the argument that Sol left Osha on purpose with the sith?
@@jermainesmith9429well, it was too late by the time he was up
@@jermainesmith9429 Sol knowing or not knowing could be entirely irrelevant, if the show exposes that most of what we see is from Osha's perspective and we're following her descent into the Dark Side, as the only thing that would matter is that Sol left her behind. @@kelticowl9400 Sol leaving her on purpose alone with a sith would be the reason she fell to the darkside what do u mean it is irrelevant 😂
I was like ”Basil, TELL him!”
had zero issues with that cut. I like Bazil and having him bumble through was fine. Star Wars does that all the time. But I think the real moment is when Sol masters himself and it was clear to me that that was when Sol realized that it's Mae not Osha. Lee Jung Jae is such a great actor. he is expressive and empathetic and what's wild is that he learned English for the role. my mom s Korean and she has been in the US for 40 years and learning English was so difficult for her but for him to act in a secondlhe just learned...that's impressive. He's also the first Jedi Master i can recall who really emotes real human emotion.
Also, the Stranger is still not identified as a Sith or Sith Lord or Master. He seems to reject any label and in the substitles he's identified now as Stranger.
Smilo Ren
Episode 6 has so far, led me to believe that we're seeing the whole series from Osha's PoV, so as she falls to the Dark side the Jedi seem scummier, the Sith seem more relatable. Sol's "failing" will likely be something like he regrets not being able to save both of them, Torbin's shame may be that he was simply possessed, something that would still allow for the Jedi to represent Objective Moral Good with the Moral relativism we see belongs solely to Osha, just a Theory we'll see if the later episodes confirm or do something else.
I do not have the episode but one word comes in to mind...sematics
Semantics, but yeah, I’m very intrigued by Qimir and his motivations. He’s my favorite character since he takes a different perspective on the force and he’s actually chill enough to sit down and talk about it rather than Anakin who became an emotional catastrophe the moment he gave in to the dark side. I really like 6 how it’s just very reflective and about the characters themselves
But I don’t like Bazzel but its Star Wars tradition at this point to have an annoying critter just fuck around.
I didn't really receive Bazil's scenes as comic relief? It was just a little squirrel guy running around? Did everyone else feel like it was supposed to be funny? I didn't get that vibe for one second. Had no problems with these scenes or Bazil's character.
A lot of people are being overly critical. It’s like when you get backstabbed by someone close and you find it difficult to start trusting people again.
I didn't see Bazil comic, either. He just exists on the ship and does his thingy.

Yes very possible
Honestly the series could have just been an anthology series of the Jedi during the High republic era

Weird edit for sure. And it's not like there isn't room for this at another point, nothing happened for 30 minutes. Basically exposition all episode long, jumping from Sol's ship to Bal’demnic and back only when they felt like viewers would fall asleep.
yeah you see some jedis dead on the ground after a shocking killing spree and then you have a funny moment for kids.. wtf???
My question is why did the ship to go crap for no reason? Mae showed she obviously doesn't have any mechanical know-how to sabotage it.
We don’t have enough time in each episode to keep messing around with side story filler. Wish they’d knock it off and give us more scenes like this. This scene actually elicits emotion from the audience and makes you care, which these creators have had a really hard time doing for years.
Lee jung Jae deserves a better show
im worried how Sol dialogue at the end becomes very frighting and if its a heel turn it is NOT EARNED. again it depends on how it is written but I dont see rage as something Sol would have
Sadly, given how this show has been progressing, I won't be surprised if that is indeed how things end up going. The promise this show had just seems to be going further and further down the tubes, despite having moments of actual merit, only to have said moments get crushed by the weight of everything else.
We still don’t know if he’s a sith.
Wild theory but.. What if Qimir is a reincarnation of Darth Bane? The back scar and the "a very long time ago" got me thinking..

The CONSTANT interruption from Sol telling Mae what happened was so overdone to the point where it was comedic every time it happened. I know they're saving it for next episode before the finale, but it ended up making much of this episode feel like it was just buying time before the next episode.

To me the sith and Sol are great.
But the sisters are just not it.
Last episode they were just running around like headless chickens, they keep on impersonating each other.
They're just kinda there without much purpose.
Lee Jung-Jae is a great actor, but he's undercut by a lot of silliness. The diabolus ex machina of the ship's transponder not working and then the whole ship needing to be restarted, thereby blocking Sol from reporting the happenings of the mission to the Jedi when he was in the right mindset to do so really killed any sense of believability for me. You could say Mae did it, but they neither show nor tell this to the audience, so I reject that idea. She also doesn't seem to have the time she'd need to carry out such sabotage. And that leaves bad writing. Everything is just too convenient, from time to travel, people constantly being knocked unconscious so another dialogue can happen, blatantly stupid decisions from supposedly intelligent characters (Sol letting Qimir off with a warning when he obviously knows a lot about what is going on and is an extremely suspicious individual for instance,) etc. This show is just a tragedy of errors, be they by characters or by diabolus ex machina.

@@sinistra7450 - he’s good in _Squid Game,_ and he’s good at times in _The Acolyte…_ but sometimes he sounds like he doesn’t actually understand the words he’s using, which is probably true. and in this scene specifically, I think he over-acted 🤷🏻♂️
Far from it, I would say…
He's mad because of all the crap writing he has had to deal with.. It's not like by ep2 that any of this wasn't obvious
MAE: I'm tired of this revenge mission. I'm gonna turn myself in to the Jedi.
Ten minutes later -
MAE: Nah, fuck that. I'll pretend to be my sister and wait for the chance to sneak up on Sol and kill him from behind.
Did Chat GPT write this nonsense?
They can't even do this right. yikes.
