I bought my wife an Apple MagSafe battery pack over a year ago to use with her iPhone 13. She uses it for long trips and it hasn't degraded her battery capacity at all. Hopefully the new Qi2 standard battery packs work at least that well and have more capacity.

Honestly bro I bought that Anker nano and hated it. It makes using your phone impossible while charging. I ended up just getting an anker wireless pack. Yea it’s a bit slower but i liked it better. Good video

None of the features mentioned seem to justify replacing my current 15w wireless 10000 charger which was less than $30. Incremental improvements like less heat and a little more efficiency are minor. Better to wait till the price drops to about $30 for a qi2 10000 pack
I really like the Anker Nano Power Bank despite the 5,000mAh size since it’s pocketable (I have it in my EDC bag) and versatile since I can use it for both my 15 Pro Max and iPad Mini (I liked your recent iPad Mini vid btw!). Keep up the solid work, Stephen!
I use 2 Apple MagSafe battery packs like a trickle charger. I charge my phone fully. Then I put the power bank on. Have 100 percent 4-5 hours later. Do the same thing with the other one. Have 100-90 percent a majority of the day.
My favorite thing about Apple’s MagSafe battery pack is it wouldn’t charge past 91%. I hope this QI2 standard adopts that and shows in the battery widget.

I got a wireless power bank for 15 bucks from ugreen, its a 5kmah small like the original apple one but with usbc feature, it gets hot but it helps me to give a little charge when im not home.
Where’s guarantee that it would work with >15w? Only thing that works with 15w MagSafe is apple’s one. It’s not a standard for iPhone and since Apple didn’t announce anything I would assume power of them would be still limited to 7,5w by iPhone itself.

I bought 2 of these 2 weeks ago. They are pretty good in terms of charging speed and portability. But the battery capacity isn't 5000mAh IRL. I have a Pixel 6 Pro which has 5000mAh battery, and this charges to 0-51% only. Still, I love not having to carry a charging cable and a big power bank with me.
Buy the old ones to use with Android. A few of them give you Qi2-ish speeds (15W) for (probably) a lower lrice than new Qi2 ones. Would there be any disadvantages?
I absolutely LOVE that battery pack you recommended.. it's amazing! Smaller than any pretty much any power bank out there, a pretty good amount of power for its size, it's faster because it's wired, and it charges pretty quick too, and not to mention doesn't get anywhere near as warm as MagSafe AND can charge any device that uses USB-C like an iPad as well!
picked up a 5000mha power bank on Shein for $15..it emits a faint beeping sound when connected lol.. shein has the qi2 for $75, wish i knew that before buying this

If you’re getting a “MagSafe” device right now, Qi2 won’t be an improvement. So you’re good. I would just avoid battery packs right now as those will vastly improve with Qi2
The MagSafe pack tends to work best when both devices are at 100% and the pack is used first as a sacrificial battery. Is the Anker similar, or is it more like a genuine charger to refill a low phone?

I keep optimize battery charging on, and otherwise I just charge with MagSafe everywhere. Best practice is try not to fast charge too often, that's it.
Still think it’s a flaw to have the iPhone somewhat float when charging with that battery pack and just resting on the usb port. When I see people laying the phone down or putting it with the pack attached in a pocket I cry blood.
It doesn't feel great, I'll be honest. But if you're charing with it you're probably traveling or on the go. You can always carry a short USB-C cable too.
Have you tried any of these on iPhone pro max 11? All that are for sale say they are for 12-15. My 11 charges wireless but I have seen no video on anyone trying these new chargers on a 11.
Unfortunately MagSafe only started with iPhone 12, so most MagSafe battery packs won't work on the 11. You may get slow wireless charging if placed perfectly, but I would recommend a wired power bank for the 11
I think the closest we'll get there is charging via the smart connecter ( like how you can connect a USB-C power to the Magic Keyboard and it charges the iPad. Still hoping for a dock on day for iPad that charges and puts into a "Stand By" mode.

That would be sweet but I don’t think any exist at the moment. You could get one of the standalone magnetic rings that come with adhesive on one side and attach that to the battery.
I am truly obsessed with the anker 622 but I don’t think it’s worth because of the price and as it only supports 7W and I’m very afraid of buying the nano battery since I don’t want to break the USB-C connector accidentally. Do you have any suggestion about a MagSafe battery that supports 15 W?
There is none right now, and won't be until Qi2 batteries launch next year. IF you can hold out I'd wait, or see if you can get a used Apple MagSafe Battery pack!

haha don't feel bad! A MagSafe battery pack will still do the job of getting you charged. And I really like the ESR Halolock series, plus I just heard that Qi2 devices might be farther from shipping than expected. So all good!

These are meant to get you out of a jam tbh. If you’re out doing shopping or at an amusement park or traveling, hiking etc. Obviously if you’re indoors all the time or driving all the time it’s pretty pointless but I would say it’s pretty efficient
Interesting theory! Wasn’t paid at all or given products, but since MagSafe is better than Qi1 when it comes to heat, charging speed, and communication with the devices, and Qi2 is based on MagSafe, than Qi2 > Qi1

Yeah hoping “enhanced communication” includes features like that.
If you own an iPhone 15, you can set it to only charge to 80% regardless the charger you use. Not sure if older iPhones support this feature.

Doesn’t integrate as closely as Apple’s MagSafe battery unfortunately. No reverse charging or widget integration.

The Anker acts like a “regular charger,” but I also use my Apple MagSafe battery in the same way. I attach in when my iPhone is around 20-30%
I have an iPhone 13 mini and us minimarines got abandoned by Apple so I worry that the new battery packs won't accomodate mini devices.
The mini accommodates MagSafe, and Qi2 is based off the MagSafe spec, so I think you’ll be ok! Will test though

haha don't feel bad! A MagSafe battery pack will still do the job of getting you charged. And I really like the ESR Halolock series, plus I just heard that Qi2 devices might be farther from shipping than expected. So all good!

Wireless charging is kinda dumb. Very inefficient. Prefer to go old school with a normal usb battery and cable. Much more efficient.
These are meant to get you out of a jam tbh. If you’re out doing shopping or at an amusement park or traveling, hiking etc. Obviously if you’re indoors all the time or driving all the time it’s pretty pointless but I would say it’s pretty efficient

Interesting theory! Wasn’t paid at all or given products, but since MagSafe is better than Qi1 when it comes to heat, charging speed, and communication with the devices, and Qi2 is based on MagSafe, than Qi2 > Qi1
So all you did was reading commercial advertisments for Qi2 .. of course they say its more efficient, it wont get as hot .. but how much better is it? You don't know but simply repeat the claims . So thanks to this video I know that I can skip your videos in future. Meanwhile, its July 2024 and you rarely find Qi2 powerbanks but they get, WHO GUESSED IT, comment's like "slow, iphone overheating" .. lol
