We used to have a Muslim family as neighbors a couple years ago when we had lived in our apartment for about 2 months, spoke little English - but they were so nice. Their children would always wave to us. We liked them a lot. We never got to ask where they were from, considering the language barrier and they didn’t stay in the apartment for very long. I wished I spoke their language at the time, because I found them enjoyable to be around.

I love these guys and their channel, but it’s kind of ironic that he should mention people wanting to marry their mother or sister when it’s common practice in many Muslim countries for them to marry their first cousins. Here in the U.S., not only do we not want to marry our parents or siblings, we wouldn’t consider marrying our first cousins either.

I'm extremely introverted by nature, but because American society is so friendly, I have mastered friendly chit chat with complete strangers and being kind and smiling even if I'm not happy at the time. It helps my mom is an extreme extrovert, she taught me how to do it well.
    6) enthusiasm ....TRUE! I love fishing, hiking, art, music, learning, .....and especially ANIME! I have seen over 200 anime. I could make a top 50 list. But I'll just say my top 3... 彼氏彼女の事情, ぼくの地球を守って, and ヴァイオレット・エヴァーガーデン. I loved anime so much that I learned Japanese. I wish I could visit Japan, but I just don't have the money.
But um, incest and sex with animals is illegal in the United States. Notice she did say, as long as it doesn't harm anyone or isn't illegal.

You're definitely right about "too much freedom". Most Americans are either disgusted or really dislike some of the things you mentioned like wanting to be a dog. But we have to accept that this is the price we pay for freedom of expression and individualism. We dont all have to like it, but it's basically a God given right to act however you want as long as it doesnt harm others. God will judge them. If they dress like a dog I can certainly hate it and disagree. But which option would you choose? Freedom or oppression?

The difference in wages and over all pay here is astounding. We have plenty of people here who work multiple jobs and never have time to be healthy and are stressed out to the max, and it still gets them nothing/ a mistake away from becoming homeless. We also have many people who make decent money and can easily live a relatively less stressful lifestyle that is still modest. We also have a ton of people who make enough to be very comfortable and not even need to worry about retirement. Then we have the ultra wealthy. The US gets painted in very specific ways on here. It’s a tough place to get a handle on.

It's all relative. I live in Northern California and the cost of living in my county is particularly high, and the income in my house is pretty low. So we live paycheck to paycheck, often going without something we'd like because the funds just aren't there, and we eat a lot of stuff like peanut butter and instant ramen. And while there are many people who live like that, there are also many people here who are having the opposite experience and don't have to think about what they purchase much, if at all. But we get by, and everything considered, I feel very lucky to live in such a beautiful state.

A lot of these examples are based on circumstances, just like you mentioned about keeping track and planning everything because you don’t know what’s going to happen the next day. That’s all understandable and makes sense, Americans live in a prosperous country so you find these things more often. The security of knowing that things won’t drastically change from one day to the next. You have the freedom to do these things and the mindset of freedom. That’s the biggest difference, the mindset of the people, living in a free society gives you a different mindset, just the same as living in a non free society gives you a certain mindset. When you bind the mind, you bind the individual. Example, if you chain an elephant to a tree when it’s a baby and weak, you can keep that same grown elephant chained to the tree and it will never try and get away because in its mind, it can’t. Because he couldn’t do it when he was baby he thinks he can’t do it now that he actually can. You bound his mind, he will stay bound, it’s really a sad thing and the most difficult to help, a bound mind.

Walmart has an equivalent to Costco - called Sam's Club. There's also BJ's - which is just like Costco & Sam's Club. So, you're NOT stuck with Costco's Whole Foods selection. Of course, Amazon ALSO has a Grocery section - and that's all delivered. Personally, I order EVERYTHING I need from Walmart - and I can have it delivered in as little as an hour or two, or I can schedule it at a time when it will be most convenient. They also offer a service where they will come in and put your groceries away. If you're handicapped, that is very helpful. No, everyone in America is NOT rich! I'm FAR from it! But these things are still affordable, even for me! I'm a 66 year old widow on Social Security. That is NOT a lot of money ,- but I can still afford these services! Of course you'd be welcome here! Yeah, there ARE idiots here - just like anywhere else. But MOST people would be loving and welcoming! I know everyone in my family, and everyone I know would welcome you with open arms and hearts!

Free market that encourages going after your dreams. That freedom created personal wealth and as long as govt doesn't take all your money people are encouraged generation after generation to get educated, go to work, pursue your dreams, wealth bequests wealth. Keeping good at the center of citizens life has contracted dramatically in last 2 generations and therein lays the pathway for evil to find a way in to corrupt our young ...

14:36 there are rules, living in a free society doesn’t mean you do what you want and it doesn’t matter. You break the rules/laws there are consequences for that. Our laws are based on the 10 commandments, that’s the basic, then it goes into details and outlines the punishment for breaking those rules. Like you mentioned incest, that’s not lawful, harming children not lawful, killing someone not lawful (there are exceptions, like in self defense, if they attack you and you fight back and they die, you don’t get penalized for that), stealing is not lawful, threatening is not lawful, causing bodily harm to someone ( not having safety standards in a business, home, etc..,, and someone gets hurt because you didn’t fix it). Living in a free society is basically free market, meaning , inventing, creating, no dictator or government controlling and demanding you do things their way or suffer, not bowing the knee to anyone but God, the freedom to live your life openly as long as you don’t break the law, voting whom you want to represent you in government or voting out the one that you don’t want, free choices, the people have the power that’s the biggest one, that’s why the 2nd amendment is in our constitution, to bare arms (protect ourselves) against a government that try’s to enforce its will over the people. Freedom doesn’t mean lawlessness.

When you say "too much freedom," to an American it sounds like your government and elders have conditioned you to accept a certain amount of your life to be controlled by others, in effect, giving up part of yourselves. This is denying yourself certain experiences and activities that would harm no one nor have any negative consequences, yet you readily agree to avoid living that aspect of your own life. When you grow up in such a culture it is nearly impossible to know that this is how you live. When you venture to a place where the people don't have these limitations ingrained in them, then you start to realize how much of your life you have held yourself back from living. I wish you both, and your families, the best in life.

It's helpful to remember that the US is a big melting pot of cultures. If Fili had only experienced the Midwest, say Wisconsin, she would have found it much more like her home in Germany because there is a significant concentration of German immigration in Wisconsin.
While it's true that there are friendly and open people all over the US, she might encounter them a little bit easier because she is an attractive female from another country. That makes her slightly intriguing or exotic. That's not to say, nice young men from other countries won't encounter friendly and open people. It might just take a little longer.
I agree that culturally there needs to be a baseline of behavioral regulations. Free speech is a good thing, but yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater is recognized as dangerous and irresponsible if not criminal. Fortunately, there are more people that can live with others without having to be rude, obnoxious or inconsiderate. There are those who can't, and you can't help but notice them when they make an appearance. So, it's always helpful to get a sense of what type of person you are dealing with. If you can do that, you should have no problem finding the sort of people who will add to your enjoyment of your visit.

America is NOT paved with GOLD! You have to work, work, work your arse off to make it. So don't believe the BS! You are lucky to make it! I'm 66 years old and broke. My home is paid for but. My retirement went broke. So I live on SS. I now have to go back to work. Young people have dreams. But you better be very educated, or gifted!
