This is the only concrete channel that doesn't leave a freaking mess everywhere. Every channel I watch, they have a couple of wheel barrels spilled wherever. Nice work !
Love how you have your daughter involved with every aspect of the job. I have 5 daughters and no sons, so I'm looking to incorporate my daughters into my trade as well
Mike, small tip, mount your laser receiver rod stake on a plasters' hawk. Set the hawk upside down, flat side on the floor. With a 3' rod stake ,the receiver becomes self supporting . The benefit is you'll take many more shots because it will always be nearby.
I worked in precast concrete for 12 years & loved the satisfaction of a nicely finished piece. It takes a little time to get use to how wet u need the mix, how fast it cures & how to trowel well.
I have 3 Daughter and they love it when I bring them to work with me. I think they have a love for construction there grandpa is a builder and I'm a cement finisher and licensed electrician
I know several women in the concrete business, I've had several work for me through the years actually they're better than 85 percent have some of the men they're great perfectionist be proud of your daughter she should never anybody for a good living and she's going to college. My daughter is pretty good I was in the business for 53 years retired been working on a pool in Dallas so much retirement good to see your video thanks
Great job dad/ boss, between watching these short videos and actually doing concrete for a professional business now and a really awesome forman/ teacher. I have the basic knowledge and confidence to do my own concrete pad for my new 21x20 garage pad
MIKE , GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS . IF TIA CAN HANDLE THE TASK AT HAND , WHY NOT....I AM IN LOS ANGELES , CA. I HAVE SEEN ALL FEMALE FINISH CREW HERE , ANYONE THAT CAN HANDLE THIS KIND OF WORK , I THINK THEY SHOULD GO FOR IT..
Another nice pour Mike!! Thats the kind of weather I loved to pour in! You said that mix dried pretty fast. But it’s still better then 94 degrees. It’s nice to have a little time on your side. And let your daughter or employee learn something new and not be stressed on time👍🏼👍🏼
Mike day I've been watching your videos for a few months now. You have very professional stuff going on. I believe a key point 2 maintaining your business is learning how to price your business you learn how to price your business you can take it anywhere. I need help with this Mike. Me and my friend want to start our own small business together as part time I work for a Precast company during the week Monday through Friday which pretty soon we're going to start cutting hours
Another great show Mike, which helped me put my first pad in which turned out stellar according to your advice, anyway… Keep on rocking see an next video… and yes, I subscribed lol
Hi. Great video, thanks. I'm in the UK and laying around 66yds2 (11x6), with a fall in both directions. The 11yd side falls by 12", the 6yd side by 5". I want to use a power screed. Would you work from the low point to high, or high to low? I've never done anything this large before, so any advice would be really helpful. Thanks.
Awesome job on teaching her!! Props to you! I pour here in WV and I only know a a couple women who do concrete and they work union work. Love the channel
I’ve been pouring for 30 years and I finish the same way as you do I tried a vibra screed 15 years ago but the first ones weren’t that nice I’m going to get another one.
Thanks Mike; Ive poured my own parking pad for garage. Grid pattern. I feel confident I can do it with your help. Already poured 28x24 first area next are is 24x21. Thanks again for your videos
Really enjoy your videos. My lead concrete finisher is a woman. She can run a vibrascreed and a power trowl. Just the anything bigger than a 36 in and it drags her 😂
Thanks Mike it's Raj from central concrete we never used a power screed can you use it on large single slope pads Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks
Love your videos. I am am not a construction worker just find the trades interesting. I wonder how you keep from tripping while walking backward with rebar and pipes coming up behind you. Do you ever fall down doing concrete jobs?
Just the fact that you guys didn't have to cover those square holes & never got any along the rim of em is proof ...your crew is a tight, well oiled machine, nuff said
Thanks for the video Mike! Question: you mentioned you still hand screed floors with a slope. Is that because it is not advisable to use a vibrascreed on a sloped floor?
Awesome job Mike, like every proud Papa of a girl, soon enough we find out they are worth a dozen boys. Mine is also in College, she works on her own truck and train horses. Her brother, on the other hand , well... 🤔
Good job Tia! Proud daddy! But what kinda engineer designed a house in Maine with no frost wall lol 😂 hopefully it doesn't heave too much and make the house crooked.
She was the point guard. She led the team in points, steals, and assists. I can't remember her exact averages. She won back to back State championships (the only ones the school has ever won in over 100 years. She was also a Miss Maine Basketball semi-finalist as one of the best girls players in the entire state.
You are an awesome dad to be teaching all the good things to your daughter. This is probably why she has done so well so far in her life.
Tia is learning from the best in the business.
🏀 Respect to Tia. 💪
Thank you!
Total respect to her people don’t realise how hard the concrete game is 👌
This is the only concrete channel that doesn't leave a freaking mess everywhere. Every channel I watch, they have a couple of wheel barrels spilled wherever. Nice work !
We try not to make a mess for others to clean up after us.
I have never seen a woman do anything in the concrete trade and I think she is doing an excellent job! Great job you guys.
That is back breaking work hopefully she doesn’t burn out. She has my vote.

Man I learn so much on youtube and I been at it for 50 years. Great idea and I got a few hawks laying around being that drywall is my 1st trade. 🦅
Special thing to teach the younger generation. She will remember working with the old man forever.
I worked in precast concrete for 12 years & loved the satisfaction of a nicely finished piece. It takes a little time to get use to how wet u need the mix, how fast it cures & how to trowel well.
This is the first am seeing a lady vibrascreed. Nice job T
Thank you!
I love the vibratory screed, I have used that same style many times on large flat pours, way to go for your daughter on using it.
I’m more impressed with her running the bullfloat. That’s not an easy feat your first couple of times with the weight and angles and she nailed it!!
I have 3 Daughter and they love it when I bring them to work with me. I think they have a love for construction there grandpa is a builder and I'm a cement finisher and licensed electrician
that power screed makes an excellent job of that concrete nice job tia
thank you!

A Good parent teaches their trades to their children.. But the benefit is your kid does well at it AND appreciates your work ethic 🚀
Much respect to you and your family, reminds me of me and my Dad. 👍

Very impressed never seen a woman do it & I’m a union labor out of illinois local 397.

What is the base layer below the concrete? Does that need to be level as well? Thanks for the awesome content!

I can help you with that in The Concrete Underground, the link is in the description of my newer videos to check it out.

Tia is a superstar
Right on. I get to pour a 30x30 soon. Gonna be fun.
I know a lot of women that run vibrators sorry Mike I had to go there your daughter did a great job
I've never used a power screed. I was taught old school, use a 2x4 to screed with. Id like to try a power one sometime
Thank you for explaining what the like button does. I will make sure to hit it. 👍
Awesome job on teaching her!! Props to you! I pour here in WV and I only know a a couple women who do concrete and they work union work. Love the channel
I have learned a lot from your tutorials! Many thanks.
We’re gonna be doing a 30x30 pad here soon. We have one of these in the ministry, so I’ll get to use it for the 1st time…excited.

Excellent video!

Looking great good video, can i use 6m screed rail straight on the shutters or have to be inside the shutters ?
Thanks again Michael
Is the water reducer a product they add at the batch plant or something that you add to the mix on site?
They add it at the batch plant.
Way to go Tia!
Mike I built a vibrating float handle, with my multi tool oscolter cordles ! Try it out ! And and on your walking edger!
Sounds cool.
Hey mike how do you base your slab prices, I'm from RI and I'm still getting the hang of pricing slabs, walkways are easy, slabs not so much
Just the fact that you guys didn't have to cover those square holes & never got any along the rim of em is proof ...your crew is a tight, well oiled machine, nuff said
Thanks for the video Mike! Question: you mentioned you still hand screed floors with a slope. Is that because it is not advisable to use a vibrascreed on a sloped floor?
Found you on Texas Barndominiums, glad I got the referral!
Why is it so amazing to you that Tia can successfully run the Vibra Screed?
Is this totally free hand?? I don't see any forms to guide your concrete thickness
How much water reducer is added per yard? To get a 6 inch slump.
Love the videos man!
nice work mike .
Thanks!
You do good job thank you for all this videos
Awesome job Mike, like every proud Papa of a girl, soon enough we find out they are worth a dozen boys. Mine is also in College, she works on her own truck and train horses. Her brother, on the other hand , well... 🤔
Thank you!
What is the difference in screeding and power trial 🤔
Great channel. Love the content. I’d like to see one on stain and seal on a stamp job.
Thank you!
Theres no reason she shouldn't do it but she is picking it up well fair play to her very compant proud daddy
Looks great, nice work!
Thank you!
You go young lady
Wow you now have so many views,, stay safe out there Mike it's great to see your platform grow as it is ,,keep up the great work🎇
Thanks Mike
vibrascreed probably also helps compact the concrete too. Makes it more dense than hand rodding the concrete.
It does work very good!
Yes settles it like a vibratory a little, works cream to the top. Definitely a back saver.
Great concreting
Thanks!
I’m sure that was easy for her 💪🏻
Good morning Dave, my name is Barney Lee Willie I'm from Ganado, AZ I'd like to come work for you. I'm njoying your video.
You go Tia
You guys rock my guy
Hi Mike, do you use a superplasticizer in your mud?
Yes that’s the water reducer.
I need to get a 12’ blade. Mine has a 6’ so it’s good for smaller jobs but a 6 and a 12 would be just about perfect I’m thinking:
None! That's hard work for anyone to do so I give her a lot of credit. You must be a good Boss and Father.
Thank you!
What slump is that? Plastisizer?
Good job Tia! Proud daddy! But what kinda engineer designed a house in Maine with no frost wall lol 😂 hopefully it doesn't heave too much and make the house crooked.
It does have a 4' frost wall. We're pouring to the top of the wall.
@@MikeDayConcrete oh didn't see it. 😀
What keeps the screed demon from sinking?
You have no sturups for grade ? How are u running the screed without grade ?
Laser and pads.
Awesome man she does good and y’all get to spend some time together and make some money it’s all good
Mike👍
Cool
Cómo consigo la regla vibratoria
What primitive and underproducing equipment....!
Sarcasm? I sure hope so.
who is Tia i ve seen her every now and then in your videos
What is Tia’s points and rebound average? 🏀
She was the point guard. She led the team in points, steals, and assists. I can't remember her exact averages. She won back to back State championships (the only ones the school has ever won in over 100 years. She was also a Miss Maine Basketball semi-finalist as one of the best girls players in the entire state.
Looks like winter in the video
It's taking a while to warm up here.
@@MikeDayConcrete I wish that was the case here in NC but we didn't even have much of a winter and it has been in the 80° already
This must be an old video. There's no way y'all don't have leaves on the trees yet.
No, this is actually from about a little over a week ago!
@@MikeDayConcrete Wow!
