@Dalmonius - That's up for debate. I think he had an SB-Elite model as at least one of his basses had the elliptical inlays that an Elite does. I am sure a Cliff fan can chime in here. Either way, the only difference in Cliff's bass over an SB1000 would be the string spacing. SB-1000 = narrow, Elite = Wider. The sound is essentially same (same electronics).
It was recorded direct via a Digidesign M-Box interface. Any decent audio interface will do these days. There was some light compression added afterward. I can't remember which plugin that was. It might have even been the included Dynamics one in Pro Tools. The volume and tone were fully up and the 6-position attack mode selector was in the brightest position. I didn't use any overdrive or analog "warmth". I've always thought the SB was "dirty" enough. I do like the SansAmp PSA-1 once in a while, though.
@CamoteMaster not this one, it was a Black N Gold and an Alembic spoiler. Look for the Aria SB-CB it's practically the same Black N Gold but with cheaper material.
@zumazmusic Cliff barely played an SB1000. He much preferred the SB Black and Golds with wider string spacing. The black and golds as far as i know were more similiar to the SB-R ranges

Or even better, look for a used Elite I. You can find them for between $500 and 700 on average. Identical to the Black N Gold except cosmetically. The SB-CB is a cheaper version of the SB100CB which was kind of a mash between the SB1000 and the black n gold. BnG body, neck, finish, inlays, hardware... but with SB1000 electronics and ebony board.

@cirrusbp worth every penny too. i can tell you i sepnt litterally 10 grand on bass's either moding them or trying to get them to sound like an aria and i can tell you i failed misrebly everytime.this bass has a tone to it that no stop box or ext unit could ever give you...i like playing this bass through a clean 200 watt amp and its wonderfull going up through arp'gs you hear that aria tone come out..if you find one used cheap and good condtion dont hesitate because i promise they are worrth it
@LuchoMazzeo try talkbass using thier forms....you wont have much luck finding a used one it took me YEARS, either they were to beat up or too much...talkbass has a few listings once in a while...i also dont know anything about the CB...
Partially untrue. The Elite I was essentially the same model as both the SB-R60 and the Black n' Gold I except for hardware. As for "is this the same as...." then yes it is, but the SB-1000 is a superior model made in the Matsumoku factory from '77-'87. The APII "Cliff Burton" models are actually different to the models Cliff preferred. For one, he didn't like the active mode.

Hi, I have a Aria SB-five strings, i want to know what strings do you use. i'm from Chile, thanks
Strings used?
Greetings, beoutiful basses, little bit expensive.
At the time the strings were The fourth in my series of bass reviews...2 year old DR Lo-Riders.
What`s the diference between this one and the Aria SB-CB 4-String ?
how do you get that tone, ie, what amp, settings, dirt?
It was recorded direct via a Digidesign M-Box interface. Any decent audio interface will do these days. There was some light compression added afterward. I can't remember which plugin that was. It might have even been the included Dynamics one in Pro Tools. The volume and tone were fully up and the 6-position attack mode selector was in the brightest position. I didn't use any overdrive or analog "warmth". I've always thought the SB was "dirty" enough. I do like the SansAmp PSA-1 once in a while, though.
Yes I was going to mention the price.........Still a nice bass though!!!! I played one in my younger years.
My Aria Pro ii sb 1000 does not make those tone variations when i move the switch- What's the problem? Does anyone know?
If it's not a dead battery, it could be anything from a bad switch to a bad preamp. Look for the Aria Pro II club on Talkbass.com for more help.
Are you sure that your components aren't oxyded ?
@CamoteMaster not this one, it was a Black N Gold and an Alembic spoiler. Look for the Aria SB-CB it's practically the same Black N Gold but with cheaper material.
@zumazmusic Cliff barely played an SB1000. He much preferred the SB Black and Golds with wider string spacing. The black and golds as far as i know were more similiar to the SB-R ranges
@achtungjackass - Hey man! How have you been? I would leave to hear your clips. Don't you have an SB-900? There are not many great clips of that model around.
Man, I wish I could find one of these locally.
Hey, where did you manage to get it, I've been looking all over online, I take it you got it from Kana Music Canada?I need one of those.
+The 4E - This one I bought long ago from The Bass Palace in the USA.
I want one
@@5150show The new re-issues look promising. Check the Aria Guitars Facebook page. 😎🤞

@almostmidnightband - Oh, is that the one with the Alembic pickups? I just listened to "Hate Mondays." Sounds great! Good voice too, man!
Cool 👏👏👏🙂💯
@@charlesmcgarrah9903 Thanks for stopping by Charles! 😎🎶
samurai bass!!!
dude your amazing
Hello! Which is wheight of this bass?
From memory, I think this bass is somewhere around 10.5 lbs. It's a beast, however, nothing a good, wide strap can't handle!
Wish list material
is that a rosewood or ebony fretboard?
Or even better, look for a used Elite I. You can find them for between $500 and 700 on average. Identical to the Black N Gold except cosmetically. The SB-CB is a cheaper version of the SB100CB which was kind of a mash between the SB1000 and the black n gold. BnG body, neck, finish, inlays, hardware... but with SB1000 electronics and ebony board.
No offence, but it's like watching Ed Norton doing a review, very nice bass as well.
+RobertDeville - No offense taken at all!
its the posthumous cliff burton model not budget
@zumazmusic
Cool. My dream is have the same bass that Cliff used to play those epic stuff I found some images and Cliff's bass really looks like Aria Pro II SB-Elite
what a cute dog!!!
@cirrusbp worth every penny too. i can tell you i sepnt litterally 10 grand on bass's either moding them or trying to get them to sound like an aria and i can tell you i failed misrebly everytime.this bass has a tone to it that no stop box or ext unit could ever give you...i like playing this bass through a clean 200 watt amp and its wonderfull going up through arp'gs you hear that aria tone come out..if you find one used cheap and good condtion dont hesitate because i promise they are worrth it
@BOULDERDP - Two rasins and a cheeto? Sounds like a perfect name for an album.
This is going to sound dumb but I don't know how to buy one, can anyone help me? I live in the US by the way.
Guillermo, try asking at talkbass.com. Look for a thread called "Aria & Aria Pro II Club"
@LuchoMazzeo try talkbass using thier forms....you wont have much luck finding a used one it took me YEARS, either they were to beat up or too much...talkbass has a few listings once in a while...i also dont know anything about the CB...
Ok thanks.
For one, he didn't like the active mode.
ebony fretboard
1:41 That would be a low-pass filter, not a high-pass.
@omegaonex23 - Come out and play-ee-ay!!!
John Taylor bass yeaa
Sounds like a P-Bass on steroids!
Kevin Hughes - That's a good way to describe the SB1000!
I allmost would say : a clone between a P bass and a Ray !
Lol the same brand that cliff buton used.
tenía un león atrás de el e.e
Tony Stark and Iron Man Bass XD
~tony Stark? :D
insult to Cliff Burton use that bass whit slap...its like use gold for playing football
+Benito Camela
Because only Cliff Burton used an SB1000, right?
"Because only Cliff Burton used an SB1000" he is doing shitty slap on that fucking bass that i want and he is goddamn slaping!!!!! >:v i hate slap :,v
Well I really associate it with slaps. Jonas Hellborg used a two-pickup Aria around 1981 or something.
But it is a beautiful design anyway.
