    Sir James Paul McCartney.
His talents are absolutely mind blowing! This amazing rocker just celebrated his 79th birthday just a couple of weeks ago, and yet you'd think he was still in his 30's. He's only lost a little bit of voice range, but still sounds incredible for a man his age. I mean, he's been using that instrument non-stop for over 60 years now! And he has done a lot of screaming with it too. On stage, and in the studio. Most singers with a falsetto range like his, after using it as much as he has, would have stopped recording & singing live. Their voices most likely would have not stood the test of time. And McCartney has sung his songs in the same key as he did when he was in his 20's, and singing with the Beatles. Only recently has he had to bring his voice down an octave to prevent it from cracking when hitting those high notes. But it makes no difference, he still sings flawlessly on stage. Sir Paul was simply blessed with a great set of pipes. He's in very rare company. He's one of the only singers I've heard, that can sing ballads & rockers as good as he can. There really aren't that many out there. Foreigner's Lou Gramm is another who comes to mind. His voice is just in another stratosphere all together. And McCartney's musicianship really blows me away! A self-taught musician, he can play just about anything he touches. And he's never been able to read a single note of music. It's all been by ear the past 60 years. He's a very good drummer, an excellent and highly underrated guitarist, a great piano player, and last but certainly not least, the best pop-rock bass player ever! There are some who disagree & wish to argue the matter, but it wouldn't matter to me. I've watched & listened to this man play his different assortment of bass guitars over the years, and he's second to none. Many professional musicians, colleagues, and music critics also agree. Whenever there's a "best of all-time" list, Paul McCartney's name is always in the top 5. It's usually right along side John Entwhistle of the Who, and James Jamerson, who played on most of the great Motown hits of the 60's & 70's. Jamerson also happens to be McCartney's favorite bassist. Paul McCartney changed the way 1960's rock bassists played the instrument. His very melodic basslines can be heard on many of the Beatles' albums. Albums such as "Rubber Soul", "Revolver", "The White Album", "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Magical Mystery Tour", and his masterpiece playing on " Abbey Road". While most 60's bass players were playing it just as a part of the rhythm section with the drummer, McCartney played his bass more like a lead guitar. Smooth, fluttering notes up & down the fretboard, making their songs much more enjoyable to listen to. The man is an absolute genius on the instrument, hands down. Now he's just playing his signature "Hofner" violin shaped bass. But in 1965, he also played some Fender basses. But to me, he always did his best playing on his Rickenbacker 4001s. It's deep, rich sound can be heard on such Beatles tracks as "Magical Mystery Tour", "Rain", "Paperback Writer", "Yer Blues", "Lovely Rita", "Something", and mostly all of the "Abbey Road" album. On his solo work & with his band "Wings", he used it on the "Band On The Run" album, the "Ram" album, "Venus & Mars" album, and the album "Wings At The Speed Of Sound" from 1976. My personal favorite. Just take a listen to the track "Silly Love Songs" on that album. Some people didn't care for the song, but McCartney's basslines in that song are some of the best playing on any rock record, period! Again, played on his Rickenbacker 4001s. Anyway, obviously all just my personal opinion. Weather you agree with any of my opinions or not, I do know you love McCartney. Otherwise, y'all wouldn't be here watching him. Like me! Thanks for letting me ramble a bit. I appreciate it! Peace✌

I was at one of the two shows in Anaheim, held at what was then called the Arrowhead Pond. I was at the show *before* the one where he connected with the space station. I remember that blue t-shirt, though, and also that there were cameras everywhere, capturing the show from every possible angle. It was a three-hour-plus show. I was holding back tears all night as Paul and his terrific band rolled out one classic after another. One of my favorite Beatles tracks is "I'll Get You," a fairly obscure number. Paul finished his last encore with it and when I heard the intro the dam burst. Bless you, Paul.

So redeeming for Paul to perform great Beatles songs the band never performed live. It’s unique in music recording history for a band so mega-successful (and beloved) to have released so much great music and then never performed any of it (other than the roof concert) from their mid-career to their very end as a band. It’s a wonderful tribute, in a way, to John George Ringo…

The Beatles are the greatest band in all of music history. The Beatles are and will remain unparalleled in what they have achieved. The most prominent is that they have resurrected, unknowingly at that time, Classical Music at the time when it was dying in the late 1950s, as the new and MODERNIST classical music composers have thrown out the basic building blocks of DELIGHTFUL MUSIC COMPOSING, namely, melody, rhythm, harmony, timbre, pulse, tone, speed, and opted to use INTOLERABLY INSANE ways of composing their music.
The modernist classical music composers at that time started using the sounds of crumpling of paper, bird sounds, sounds of sandpaper rubbed together, bouncing of tennis balls off the piano strings, etc., and all kinds of INSANE SOUNDS that alienated them TOTALLY from the music lovers and critics.
So the only music that everyone in the world, including the classical music experts, listened to in the late 1950s, was Pop music. But pop music had its limitations, as it was FORMULAIC, meaning, that it was recycling the same chords again and again. Think Elvis Presley and the similar musical chord that were in many of his hits, for example.
But God, in His mercy, sent mankind the four geniuses known as the Beatles.
Although not schooled in Classical music, Paul McCartney studied the styles of Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Handel, etc., and utilized many of their styles. That is why Paul's compositions are all super DELIGHTFUL TO LISTEN TO.
And the super-special thing about the Beatles is that they went into super many MUSICAL GENRES that made them hard to catch up to, musically speaking. They started with POPular MUSIC which only required about 4 keys, like Paul's I Saw Her Standing There.
But from there, they started entering into genres or created some new ones, with their newer songs where they deployed 16 keys, like the DISORIENTATING I Am The Walrus by John Lennon.
The Beatles BOLD EXPERIMENTATION with tape looping, and utilization of newer instruments like the Indian sitar, and their BRAVE VENTURING into so many other music genres has set them MANY LEAGUES AHEAD from such bands like the Rolling Stones, Bee Gees, and ABBA, the bands that the EXPERTS say have achieved the success that APPROXIMATES that of the Beatles, but are still FAR, FAR from what the Beatles have achieved. Such bands ventured into ONLY three genres at the most, while, like I said, the Beatles went into much more genres that we can keep up with.
God bless Paul, the most CHARITABLE, the FRIENDLIEST, and the BEST SONGWRITER of the Beatles by far.
    God bless us all.

Thanks for that. Nice thoughts. I see people saying the Beatles are overrated. They are consistently underrated. I went to a fete once, and there was a brass band. All afternoon they played Beatles songs, and they all worked. Why? Because the compositions are so strong. And then when you play the originals, you have those beautiful voices, and musicianship, and personalities, and arrangements. It's overwhelming.

At 38:55, Paul fell into a BIG HOLE on the stage. I know Judo and I can say that it was a really SOLID FALL that would have broken the hips or even the spine of YOUNGER JUDO PLAYERS. PAUL, who has always been a good person to everyone, must have his Guardian Angel catch and break his fall.
He was almost 70 years old when that fall happened, but he got up as if it was NOTHING or no big deal for him.
It does pay to be a charitable and loving individual. Thank You God for giving us Paul's music.
God bless us all with love for one another.

Most of his lyrics were not just poetry.. but exquisite poetry. The man is truly a gift to be treasured. His talent as well as perhaps some luck and timing gained him unfathomable wealth and fame but it has also given many of us something to be thankful for. I imagine anyone touched as much by the music as myself already understands.

He wrote "Yesterday" at 22 years old. Just sayin. Near the end of the Beatles he writes "Let it Be". Not to mention everything else he wrote before, in between, and after. Not to say John and George were any slouches but when you consider the number of great songs under Pauls belt it is not so unfathomable to consider him a Mozart of our time. Which I think in all logic and reason he will go down in history as if not already.

Don't forget that there were FOUR of them!! Sadly, Paul McCartney has largely become a Beatles tribute act, since George Harrison died. I'd prefer his gigs to contain just a hand full of his celebrated classics in the set (Hey Jude, Yesterday, Penny Lane, Let It Be, Fool On The Hill, Blackbird, etc) and the bulk of the songs from his most recent albums. Just as his old Wings' repertoire was in the 70's.
