Thank you for this video. After buying the green craftsman utility knife, I almost took it back to the store. I didn’t know how to put the blades in and was becoming very frustrated trying to figure it out. They didn’t have a “How to install” instruction manual with it. So, I decided to try RUclips before I took it back. I’m so thankful to find your video. Thanks again for taking time out of your busy schedule to show us how to install them! God bless you!
Thanks For your video. I was gifted this box cutter without any instructions and couldn't for the life of me figure the dang thing out. Everything you showed was spot on.
Danny, you probably saved me a trip to the local e.r. tonight! I thank you! You’re a natural born teacher. I generally have to watch “How -To” videos a minimum of 4 times. Your cogent delivery had me all ears and eyes and I had success before your video was over. It felt good! Thanks Again for making this video🥇
I have an old metal craftsman that is a perfect utility knife--but needed another so tried this new one--which they should call their "Nightmare Model." Even before I got as far as your beginning, there was the cardboard which had been stuck down the channel where the blade would go--and it wouldn't pull out! A screwdriver opened the thing and all the parts tumbled out (including three sharp blades) and needed to be reassembled--then your reasonable step-by-step video was invaluable in finally allowing it to work--and even now, the slide is not very smooth, and there's no sense of permanency. Thanks for saving me a trip to the hardware for some explanation.
Wish I’d found this video 2 years ago. Bought a couple of these knives and just couldn’t figure out how they worked (beyond regular use). Craftsman should post your video to their site. Thank you!
Danny, thank you for the great video! You explained and showed it very well. We almost brought ours back to Lowe's because we couldn't figure it out. I had an old utility knife that we recently lost and we never had this kind of trouble changing a blade! Thank you much! Great job!
This video is a lifesaver. He brings out points that I don't think anyone would really notice. So thanks sir I was thinking about taking it back. Why in the world would anyone make a device that would lead the consumer to search for a youtube video for instructions?
Dude you saved me here! I was used to old school utility knives where you just take it apart, put the blade in and screw it back together. I am too stubborn to take it back to the store so I spent 20 mins attempting to put a blade in. Last resort was to RUclips the damn thing! Smh, thanks for the instructional video, but it shouldn't have been that difficult to figure out lol
Thank you! I've had a heck of a day, wherein nothing has gone right. After a bought the new Craftsman utility knife, it only added to my problems. I had to dig a little to find your video, but I'm glad I did.
THANK YOU! Fiddling with this dang thing makes me miss the old utility knives with zero safety features. Yeah, I sliced my face with one at age 7 & still have a scar decades later. But they didn't require instructions to figure them out lol!
I bought a bunch of these at a thrift store. They had a whole box of them. Brand new a dollar each. I guess nobody knew how to put the blade in. I sure didn’t. I disassembled the whole thing and put the blade in. Ha ha Ha. Thanks for the video I have been illuminated. This is the way.
Thank you for your very clear instructions! Im replacing my old Craftsman that i lost. I bought the same exact one cuz they work so good!! Ive broken down many many boxes and these things don’t quit!!! Good thing for RUclips cuz Craftsman doesn’t give instructions! Once u figure it out these things are well worth it!! 👍🏼
very helpful. I tried to install it by myself, it took me 30mins and failed. Your great video makes everything all set. (Thanks for all your valuable details provided) Appreciate it!!
Thanks. I did manage to find the blades on my own, but wasted 6 or 7 minutes trying to figure out how to install the blade, before I decided to look up this video.
I just got mine installed after watching a few YT videos. You need to slide the slider to the top position, press the top button very hard, and slide in the blade on top, pressing slightly upwards so the knife can "grab" the notches of the knife
when i get the blade in... the slider won't retract the blade so i cant even close it... wtF? i even made sure the corner was slightly out like you said
I have an earlier version, where you have to actually open up the thing with a Philips, and I’m having a terrible time trying to put one of the new blades in place. There’s nothing on RUclips about this older version.
Yikes thank you Danny! You have just shown me that I should have bought a cheaper utility knife which was obviously much cheaper and safer. I'll be exchanging it at Lowes today for a four dollar cheaper and easier/safer Cobalt knife.

Bad design! It was so hard to put the blade on. The button is soooooo hard to put the blade on. I think I will throw this out & buy something else. 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 Thank you, after watching your video, I succeeded. I won’t throw it out. It’s working well. Thanks!
It's pretty damn sad that I have 2 go 2 youtube 2 find out how 2 open a utility knife. Really?? Manufacturers stop putting instructions on everything. I don't need this kind of frustration from a utility knife. It's going back. Thx 4 the vid.
Thanks for the video. Even still, I ended up throwing this piece of shit in the garbage can. Buyer BEWARE. It's a shame Craftsman has sunk to such depths. There was a time that Craftsman meant good products. Whoever designed this needs to be taken out back and put out of their misery. If Lowes wasn't such a drive, I'd return it. Instead, I'll just shit can it. What a waste of money.
AND Crapsman could have done a better job of explaining, makes you wonder who is running that company: make the knife complicated, unintuitive with sharp blades, let the purchaser experiment with pushing and sliding and squeezing at random points, because hey, it won’t cut your whole arm off, so no worries. Some of us complain about products from China with instructions in well-scrambled English, but Craftsman has the breakthrough concept of saving on ink and paper by just letting you cut yourself up until you finally get it straight. And the whole product-development department said “hooray! Can we get a raise?”

Happy to help!
Thanks for the help! I couldn’t figure out how to find the razors, so this walked me through it perfectly and I didn’t feel so stupid for not knowing.
i'm so happy it helped! enjoy slicing things!
Thank you Danny! There were NO instructions anywhere! This video really helped me, so appreciative of this!
Thank you!!!!!!!!! Watched 3 videos before I saw yours. This is brilliant. Also appreciate setting good standard for safety by wearing gloves.

Thank you for doing this video. I thought that I was more intelligent than I ended up being. Good video, easy to follow.

np sorry about your scar :(

Thank you!! I just wasted an hour trying to figure this out!!
Thanks. I did manage to find the blades on my own, but wasted 6 or 7 minutes trying to figure out how to install the blade, before I decided to look up this video.
Good job! I never would have figured this thing out!
So helpful and to the point. Thank you!
Clear instruction. Such a big help. Thanks!
Ty. I was beginning to think that I am dumber than I already thought. So I am back at average dumb.

i even made sure the corner was slightly out like you said
Craftsman should PAY for this video!!! Thank you!!
Thank you!! I just bought this knife and so happy you made this video. Craftsman certainly didn’t make any of this knife easy🤬🤬
Really helped me because I was so confused!!😊
Basically a Stanley 10-499 which also has to be disassembled to get the sales card out. I have an early Stanley that has the Sears name on it.
Thanks a lot man, you have been a very helpful.
Thanks Danny ...I was thinking of tossing it but I will hang on to it for a couple of uses or as a back up utility knife.
I have an earlier version, where you have to actually open up the thing with a Philips, and I’m having a terrible time trying to put one of the new blades in place. There’s nothing on RUclips about this older version.
Thank you for the blade install info!
Thank you bro!!
thank you. I was just about ready to return this. How can a manufacturer not include instructions!! thank you
Yikes thank you Danny! You have just shown me that I should have bought a cheaper utility knife which was obviously much cheaper and safer. I'll be exchanging it at Lowes today for a four dollar cheaper and easier/safer Cobalt knife.
thank you for this video, I just bought this. I think I know why it's only $7
Thanks…very helpful video 👍
Thank you!! Haha, I spent way too much time on my own trying to figure this out!
Just got this one today and this helped. Thanks. Craftsman absolutely loves not directing you how to use their crap. Lol
I'm so glad it helped!!!
Thank you so much!!!! This was really helpful.

I wish I had watched your video before I destroyed my new utility knife
Thank goodness! I finally was able to insert the blade! This is the worst example of product engineering I have EVER seen!!!
Bad design! It was so hard to put the blade on. The button is soooooo hard to put the blade on. I think I will throw this out & buy something else.

Thx 4 the vid.
OMG THANK YOU
You’re right; this is not f*cking intuitive at all. Thanks for the quick help! I kinda feel like an idiot, but there you are.

Ditto Stephanie B's comment....
Poor design...made in America. China can design a better mouse trap. Ijs
Excellent, thank you. You are absolutely right … NOT intuitive and a b**** to figure out!!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. The instructions that came with the knife were not very helpful. This made up the gap.
Wow this is the worst utility knife I have purchased! Thank you Danny for helping. What a BAD design
BUNTIN?
It was ridiculous. Almost threw it in the trash. Still might. Over engineered.
This is the dumbest designed know if I’ve ever bought in my life!! there’s nothing smooth about it!! Returning!!
Jeeez! one of the worst designed knife to use in 2023
this knife sucks.
Thanks for the helpful video. Not a great design, definitely. I did use pliers to handle the blade.
Thank you!!
Thank you!!!
