    The right to public access is such a magical concept to those of us who don't have it. In Texas, about the closest we have are river banks...we're allowed to camp on the close shores of waterways, but even that can be sketchy. (Many who live along rivers still assert the shorelines are theirs...and in Texas, it's best to move on rather than argue.)
    Scottish friends have talked about how great it is to just wander, as long as you're responsible. And while I'm sure there are those who aren't, it seems most people recognize that freedom to roam as the big thing it is and respect it.

    • @ThreeStarVagabond
      @ThreeStarVagabond  Год назад +1

      It sounds so strange to me to allow camping on riverbanks but nowhere else. It just feels so arbitrary, to pick something like that :D
      But yeah, I think most people who take the effort to go out in nature here appreciate the freedom, and try to make sure that they don't abuse it. I would be heartbroken if I saw people destroying trees and stuff while out and about.

      Texas is a weird place. It's wonderful (and beautiful) in so many ways, but weird. The rules with navigable waterways/rivers is really strange. It doesn't apply to [most] lakes...and what they consider "navigable" is open to interpretation. (A navigable riverbed must average 30 feet in width over its length.) But it's the closest thing I suppose we have to the right to wander...which is great if you plan a multi-day float trip on a river.

      @@ChristopherGronlund....And I guess that's something very common over there. "Hiking? Nah, let's go canoeing!" ...'Cause if there's anything I think of when I hear the name Texas, it's massive rivers and lots of waterways across the state :D

    I really enjoy your vlogs. They are informative but also entertaining. I will be coming over from Australia to visit with friends who live in Uppsala next June and they have asked me what I would like to see and do not only in Uppsala but throughout Sweden. Your vlogs have given me an idea of the many beautiful places to visit, things to do and foods to try as well as the etiquette to follow to ensure I do not offend. Tack så mycket!

      @@ThreeStarVagabond I have heard that the weather ranges from 10 to 21 in June which is similar to the weather we experience here in Mildura Victoria at the end of winter/start of spring . We have desert type weather in autumn, spring- cold nights, warmer days and exceptionally hot days in summer (anywhere from 32 - 45) . So I am preparing for my trip and looking to pack clothes that suit our spring/autumn (with a pair or two of shorts just in case)!

    Nice! In UK you can forage, however, if you are foraging on private land (which is most land in the UK) you have to gain permission from the landowner, or you are doing it on a public footpath. There might also be specific area bylaws. Have a great day too! Hope you didn't get mugged.

    I love the Swedish laws, I must say the restrictions seem to be just common sense rules. People are the reason rules are in place, if you clean up after yourself and have respect for nature they wouldn’t have to make up so many rules, but not everybody will follow them. When we go camping I always leave the site better than we found it, common sense rule 😅. Another awesome video Stay safe till next time and have a great trip.

    • @ThreeStarVagabond

      I wish more people thought like you! But yeah I think many Swedes would prefer to just have a general understanding to behave nice and not have any laws about it at all. But that would never work 😂

    How many places are there in the Nordic contries that one could call 'secluded' where would one go to find the biggest stretches of land with the least population?

    • @ThreeStarVagabond
      @ThreeStarVagabond  5 месяцев назад +1

      If you go up north there's literally places like that everywhere! All you have to do is e.g drive half a day north of Stockholm, and then it's really sparesly populated.

Have you heard of it? If so, what's your opinion.. thank you .. That's such a hard question to answer right now! I don't feel like Stockholm is unsafe, and I don't notice anything out of the ordinary - but the awareness level has been raised, and many are worried that something might happen. If you're a bit unsure, then it's better to be safe than sorry! Stockholm will still be here for when you want to visit later again :D
