    Blaming Ja for lack of free throws is a bit lame. Ja did not drive to the rim as Shai. Free throw disparity was obvious. Memphis went 28-39. OKC went 17-21. That's a +18 free throw disparity! Memphis got the calls, Shai, not so much!

    Until Ja develops a dependable midrange shot, he will always struggle against good teams. He's of the Derrick Rose/Westbrook archetype. If they not getting to the paint, they will struggle. Derrick Rose developed a respectable jumper later in his career. Ja should do the same NOW.

    I don't really have an issue with the coaching staff not relying on rookies, but Edey was 2 for 3, 1-1, couple blocks and boards in 13 minutes. 13 minutes, you can't really say he was hugely disappointing. But again, sometimes intangibles are a coaches call based on intuition or even the players not doing something they should do. But damn, I think both rookies have earned more minutes to even get any kind of rhythm. But you're exactly right. We just need to try to get a high enough seed to avoid OKC in the playoffs as long as possible. I think we win a 7 game series with them maybe 1 or 2 times out of 10, maybe. Most other Western teams not even that, OKC is THAT good this year. That's not necessarily a bad reflection on our Grizzlies. We just have to hope for this year that we get to them and EVERYTHING clicks when we play, and for following years that we're able to keep this young and improving team together better than they can.

    I see the grizzlies giving up game 1 in their series again like they do all the time. And once we do that, the series becomes much harder and we more than likely going to lose the series. I feel that exact same way right now. Took 4 games to scrape a win vs Houston. Will probably take another 4 games to beat okc. And then we struggle against any physical team like the clippers, mavs with AD now, lakers even without AD. I dont like being pessimistic but I see a first round exit. I used to say Ja>SGA a couple years ago but now i realised i was completely wrong. Ja needs to get to that level to get us over the line. @ Jaren is comfortable on the perimeter but he can’t rebound at a high level. Ja never has an open paint once he gets by his man. There’s always 2-3 bodies in the paint. Bagley is not a good 3-point shooter and nobody's gonna respect his shot. He might get run because he's more athletic than Edey and a better rebounder than the other alternatives, but floor spacing is not something he can be counted on to improve.

    • @keithfisher8807
      @keithfisher8807 4 часа назад

      @ Even if they don’t respect the 3, his midrange game is good and one of his best abilities is putting the ball on the floor and attacking space in the half court. He may not be the best shooter, but he’s still a threat to score if you leave him wide open. Edey can’t take more than one dribble, and Clarke only has one shot in his arsenal, and nothing outside the paint.

    Ja is only good for layups and floaters.. you can’t force him to be a midrange player off instinct.. WE CHOSE NOT TO TRADE FOR A LOB THREAT

  • @Unconvinced1

    Ja is the worst player in basketball if he doesn’t have a bouncy lob threat. Y’all saw how fast the Lakers tried to get Mark Williams 15 mins after they got Luka.. we hate Ja’s abilities and don’t try to build around them

    Man f that I’m tired of it..are we ever going to talk bout how horrible of a rebounder jj is.. he is the most important player to this teams success maybe even the best player..however he can’t rebound, he doesn’t pick and roll/pop and he isn’t a lob threat..do you know how much better we would be if he could log significant minutes as the 5 but that is impossible bc he’s soft asf..he’s basically an oversized wing that can’t even facilitate..ja looks horrible because of him..if jj was a lob threat it would open up ja’s game if he could be put in the pick and roll/pop they would be dangerous. But no we want to pass the ball to jj and let him post up and put ja in the corner like he’s a f’ing corner specialist..at this point bane is the only player in that starting five that fits..he can shoot decent play making, makes up for jj sorry rebounding skills, and is a decent defender..but either way we eventually have to talk about JJ’s deficiencies and stop praising bc he can drop 25..and don’t get me wrong i am not blaming jj completely on ja’s performance majority of that is due to time missed and the new offense..but jj extremely limits ja..tbh as much as i love jj a better fit would be Zion if healthy and adding a stretch 5 if that was even possible.

    Ja's game has not evolved. His offensive limitations are glaring. Besides ramming into bodies, his offensive skills are minimal. With ball in his hands, the ball movement and player movement stops.. that is the exact reason new offensive scheme was introduced. He has not bought into the new offensive scheme. The scheme he plays with, is not a a recipe for long term success. Jaren and Des have evolved in their game over the years, Ja's game has stayed what it was few years back. His defensive focus is dependent on if he gets whistle on offensive end. If Fox can leave Kings, Luka can be traded, Ja is tradeable also.

    We just needed one more trade honestly. Cam Johnson is super overrated but if we got a combo big like John Collins, JJJ would be even more effective on both ends and Ja could be a highlight reel again. Atp we could just bring in any small forward or keep GG and Wells but JJJ has too much on his table other than scoring the way the roster is built

    • @trueprophets4704
      @trueprophets4704 7 часов назад

      JJJ more effective has you seen his numbers on both ends. But numbers are better than Wemby out side of blocks. We need Ja to be magic in the 80s on the court and give us 10-12 assist. And Jaren needs to rebound better.

    Certain matchups just not good for certain people so Jaylen Wells just like certain Bigs not a good matchup for Zach Edey that’s why we have Vince Williams jr and need another Athletic big with that being said Jaylen wells shouldn’t start every game base it off matchups

    Thunder are an interesting team. Don’t think they’ll win a championship, at least this not year, sorta like those D’Antoni Suns team. Best record in the league and they are small team and weirdly enough, we don’t match up with them (and we are much bigger than them). Shit bugs the hell outta me.

    😂😂 we lost because Ja and Jaren. Jaren has to be a better rebounder he just to lazy in that department. Chuck was right about Ja is good but he got to get more people involved. He’s not a pure point guard or at lest he don’t play like one. Joe is wrong Ja not that best Grizzlies dude just be talking 😂😂. But Ja is the 3rd best player in this on this team when it come to player. Jaren and Bane I better all around players. They both are better scorers and defenders at this point in their careers . Ja should basically be magic on this team and average 10-12 assists a game but he tries to hard to score throughout the game. I think at times against big name players he tries to prove that he’s better but that’s not what we need. We need Ja to realize we don’t need that 25 scorers but a 10-12 assist scorer like Haliburton last year. We need Jaren to stop watching the ball go to the ground and attack the rebound why in the air. I don’t care if a teammate there attack the ball or a player will tip it. Also OKC is not better but the Grizzlies still have to gel this literally the first game with everyone. I think the start line up need to shake up with Vince needs to start. I can also see Bagley being a great fit. And can be a starter with Jaren on the floor.
