I do understand what people say and I agree I rather put younger guys over iafallo,Appleton,gus,kupari,ajf,even Barron.
If that meant Rutger or next year Lambert/Chibrikov/Lucius/Salmonsson do it enough is enough of wasting people's careers like Heinola where anywhere else he's a NHL player.
Even our goalie prospects Milic,Divincentiis if Hellebuyck decides wants out or to win waives no trade at least we have guys in pipeline.
I'd trade Ehlers+Stanley for Pulock+2nd
Trade Iafallo/Pionk for anything.
And Rutger for either a WHL prospect like a Mataychuk,Geekie,Savoie or a RFA KentJohnson,Necas,Jarvis,Schneider or Byram.
When AdamFox did same thing Mcgroarty is doing Calgary got back for years Elias Lindholm. So fans should b3 upset how our prospects haven't been getting NHL time. But not to worry Mcgroarty is a top 5 player outside NHL and will get a solid package back. Honestly we need to start picking more canadians specifically WHL guys. Taking US born NathenSmith,Mcgroarty,Copp,Trouba,Roslovic seem to want out over Scheifele,Morrissey,Lowry types.
this is NOT a player problem but obviously a broken player development problem in the Jets organization. A string of unhappy players over the years shouts something needs to be addressed fast. A team that cant develop their youth is headed nowhere fast

The Clueless dev fans are willing to give up the 10th for him LOL WHAT. Dev fans are so pathetic, like in what world is rugter worth a top 10? Kyle Connor spent time in the AHL to adapt to the professional level, before locking his place on the Jets. To expect some form of roster guarantee out of college is ridiculous, especially on a top ten team. Maybe he expects the world to revolve around him, but that is not reality in the NHL. This guy will be nothing but a headache. Trade him and move on.
If he won't play in the NHL next season, why put him in the AHL instead of letting him play in college for another season?
And Jacob Trouba came out of Michigan and was playing on the Jets at age 19 and was a regular for all 6 seasons he played with the Jets. Not to mention, Andrew Copp player in 77 games his rookie season, also out of Michigan.
It's not an unfair expectation to want a guarantee to have a chance at making the roster. Look at the number of draft picks that still haven't made it to the main team. Guys like Declan Chisholm, Johnny Kovacevic and Mikey Eyssimont were lost for nothing on waivers. Leon Gawanke slaved away for years on the Moose until he finally chose to sign in Germany as he was never getting a chance to play. And Heinola been buried in the AHL for years, and it's killed his trade value. Rutger is not having that, and rightfully so. If there's no realistic path to him having a proper chance to make the team, then he should look for a trade.
The Jets organization seems to want to simply draft players just to have them, but not give them a chance to play. It's a broken system. Especially when you look at how contending teams are infusing their draft picks. And if there isn't room for a guy to make the team, they trade them to a team where they do have a shot.
@gabrielrockman if he doesn't sign with the Jets this season, the Jets lose his rights... so the Jets are forced to trade him or sign him.

Trade is a better option
This is a major blow for our team. If we're gonna trade him, I say we trade him for picks along with Ehlers. I want Buffalo's 11th pick for Ehlers and whoever gets a top pick in 2025 and we use that pick to draft Michael Misa. We need Misa more even now with Rutger likely out.

The Jets need more than picks coming back in any trade involving Ehlers. A RHD with a big shot is a necessity.
