God the answers to Teapots questions are super frustrating. They say so little with so many words, as much as teapot wants to represent them in a positive light they really really seem to want to seem as sus as possible. When asked a question as simple as how much gold to start flipping they dove into trying to give a guide on fractal speed running. As much as I want to give the benefit of the doubt shit like that and repeating the questions are telltale signs of a liar.
100% agree, while I agree that resource flipping does yield gold in game; the persistant evasive non-answers for AN HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES to his questions just screams to me "Don't trust me, I don't want to help you." If you're asked "What is the methodology here?" and it takes an hour for teapot asking the question to give up and just explain their own methodology and then explain how they explained it to them and THEY STILL evaded the question.

That there is always room for more ppl to flip. (So many players in 2 continents all in 1 economy). There will always be casuals who will insta buy and sell to you. No one has the time to flip and regulate every item in the tp, we are individuals, not a company. I sell a lot of stuff that perhaps i could use to make more gold. But i already have ways to make gold no time to deal with all.

Any extremely rich person could beat that value in a day if anets gemstore wouldn't crash just because they did this. For reference 100k usd is 1.7 million gold at current conversion rate Are they hiding their best methods for gaining gold? Sure, but wouldn't you if you knew how to get an extra 100 gold a day but it only worked because no one else had found it? I am talking legitimate trading/off tp trading here not duplication. With duplication we are talking 10s of thousands of gold per day. Is off tp trading sketchy? Yes. Anet is kind of at fault for making an extremely high trading tax which incentivized people to trade elsewhere. Lower that tax and increase the drop rates of super valuable items and the use for off tp trading goes down heavily. GoM farming/ecto salvaging/spirit shard conversions and the like would still go on as would some off market trading, but the reasons for doing so for regular trades would drop heavily.

Yeaaaaaaa it does sound like that they are evading your questions by saying "it depends" instead of giving an actual example (even tho I know they don't mean to be evasive). I mean it's not that hard to demonstrate an easy buy order-salvage-sell like what they do here. It's much more tangible than going on and on about the theory of trading. Always demonstrate an actual case first, and if the apprentice is still interested in learning more of it in detail, then they can drill him the trading 101 / spreadsheet making 101 theory.
Thing is, they know whenever they give a specific item people who don't understand the TP will get burned buying it. Just during the stream those ripped pelts went up in TP price like 40c which wipes out the 32c profit margin. That information has a valid lifetime measured in minutes, not days.

The concept isn't differential calculus, it's A-B = any positive number. That's a REALLY simple concept. Specific examples just lead people off on a track that may be entirely counter-productive. That's not theoretical; the guy literally said people asked him for examples and them got pissed because the examples didn't work anymore.

I guarantee that tickets NEVER get sent to devs under any circumstances. Take it from someone who has tried communicating with customer support for several months on end for a single issue. An issue that CS cannot resolve on their own. Something that they admit was entirely on their end and requires the aide of a developer to resolve. An issue that wouldn't be resolved no matter how many times I requested it, to the point they would ignore responses and even let the ticket expire automatically. This issue wasn't resolved until two things happened. They threatened to permaban me from customer support, despite using the process that they themselves said is valid. I was left no choice, but to threaten legal action. Within 12 hours they immediately solved the problem. Anet-player communication is a facade. CS only exists to satiate their legal obligations.
Jesus the initial investment discussion was so infuriating to listen to, I have a lot of sympathy for Teapot. On that note, went to GW2 efficiency to check when I first decided to get some gold and I went from 90g in 2017 to 1600g in the space of a month with no hoarded materials or investments. The ramp up was slow but there are so many markets you can supply for minimal effort if you just want some playing money and don't aim for baron levels. Personally I only build gold when I dip below 3k and aim for 10k as my stopping point, having more gold than that seems pointless to me. I suggest others do the same, aim moderate rather than aiming high and being disappointed at the work load required.
Thing is I don't even know how to start. I have 130 gold, i would like some clear guidance but i really have no idea how to do things. I actually want to aim at similar amount, nothing too crazy, but have money to buy a cool weapon skin or things for collections
@@pyaac6475 at the start look at guides of fast farming spots and do them everyday until you have some thousands of gold and some materials. Then you can do what most barons do and start creating spread sheet in excell analysing the prices of things in the trading post. It's alot of daily work and if you don't like to look at numbers because it's boring has fuck forget it but if you are ok with it you can get rich easily.

I see it this way, being rich in any MMO is a game in of itself that you have to want to play. It’s not something I want to play so looking at rich people I don’t feel jealous of them. I personally want to do jumping puzzles, fractals, raids, and occasionally PvP and WvW. I don’t mind slowly working toward a legendary etc. The only times things become a problem is when dupers / cheaters mess with the price of something so much that it becomes basically a luxury item when it shouldn’t be, but I don’t see that being an enormous problem in GW2 given that most necessities have basically an unlimited supply.
Likely hundreds of 'baron' account and guild banks full of duped items and gold. All with ANet's indulgence. The only reasonable response to situations like this is join in.
I don't play GW2 any longer but I'm not surprised to hear about this. Same exact thing was going on in GW1 with Armbraces of Truth and other items. People who were in tight with Arenanet after the scandal broke were allowed to keep said Armbraces. Probably a ton of them still in the game.
When it comes to this, you can show the method but you cant show the consistent trade items or else it's ruined. I make about 100g a day from casual flipping of the same items repeatedly, but Ik I can't share that or I'll lose it all
yeah I see people in this comments being so admired that they are vague in the responses. If they tell you every little detail they ruin their work, and I don't think they want that.
100g a day in flipping is good, but time consuming. I also flip tens of items daily and have been flipping the same items for months. making from as low as 1s-10g per item. 1s profit x couple of stacks and it adds up. 2-3g per item x 10-20 also adds up. flipping is time consuming but the gold per hour is easily above 30. however sometimes it may take weeks to sell an item but it still gives high % profit, so flipping is not for those who don't like seeing 0 gold in their inv. flippers love seeing low liquid gold cuz it means tons of investing ;)

Then shit myself a little for a second, overthinking how today will be the day someone puts a price wall on me and I lost everything XD But the time of day makes a huge difference I've noticed

You don't need a degree in economics to understand that if you buy something to eventually sell at a profit, you're potentially depriving somebody who actually needs that thing to buy it at that price. So long as you make gold by flipping stuff at the TP rather than earning something from the game by playing it, you contribute NOTHING to the economy other than making prices higher for everyone else including those who actually need to use the stuff. Like the middlemen and the people who speculate in financial products and derivatives in the real world, these guys are nothing but parasites. There is no denying the effort and talent needed to be good at it. You can respect the dedication to the craft, but this craft is nothing but profiting off the desperate/lazy/ignorant while contributing nothing to the world.
They are profiting of the lazy yes, but to say that they contribute nothing is silly. The barons are pretty open about their methods (as seen here) and also assist multiple community projects. They aren't doing anything malicious or weird they just do what you or I do on a massive (and highly efficient) scale.

The ACT of flipping stuff on the trading post for profit is what contributes nothing, not the individuals themselves. I recognize their altruism in sharing their knowledge with the rest of the community but this is a zero sum game whereby if EVERY player practices this to the fullest, the average player will likely not acquire any tradeable item of any usefulness via the trading post. Also, I've not implied any sort of malice on the part of the barons, only just that the very act of commodity speculation benefits themselves at the expense of inflating prices beyond regular demand.

I don't think they are evil. They play the game efficiently and differently (TP/crafting) than normal people. That's fine. The duping method though, how can we be sure they didn't use it themselves?
There is no way to know for certain that the Barons or anyone for that matter (the next Casiano wannabe?) is using or has found another duping method unless we have access to the game code itself, which is why Anet's involvement in this matter is paramount. If Anet is unable to prevent another gold/item bug exploit incident, then this game will lose the trust of its user base very very fast.

they have the code and the servers, they can dupe wathever they want with or without any bug. They don't need any bug to allow them to do that. Arena net doesn't check the value of accounts of the game unless someone report's people. Most games function like that. They know alot of people have pretty valuable accounts but they don't check if the items are earned ingame or by using exploits. Specially when those accounts make hundreads of transaction per day like most barons do. And when you trade those items to understand if they are duped they probably have to follow each transaction that that item has had, if the item rotates between dozens of accounts the amount of work to know if the item is duped or not is insane. I used to play Metin2 and old mmo and I remember that in the past there's was a bug ingame that also allowed duping of items, they just fixed the bug but people kept their duped items since it was almost imposible to track every duped item in the game. And again the devs only discovered the exploit because a tone o people mass reported the issue since alot of people where using the exploit. In this case it seems a small amount of people knew about the exploit.

I don't see the point in having so much gold. What's to spend it on? Spend 4 hours a day crafting doesn't seem like fun, and once you've done for the day and made your 90 gold profit, wouldn't it be better to play the game for 4 hours instead and actually have fun doing so?

That 60g/h is a general figure from flipping (buy and sell directly, like stocks); it isn't rocket science if you can do it consistently and learn the market along the way in a few weeks. Enko's methods (buy, process, sell) can give more g/h, but would need his massive amount of data that he gathered over the course of years and all his account infrastructure (which includes maxed bank tabs, all character slots available with 10x 32-slot bags and maxed shared inventory). They do make it explicit in the video, if you review it.
Anet just dint give a crap, they have 0 systems to monitor exploits and hacks, bots.....as long ppl spend real money into game situation will stay like this. Who knows how much ppl is in game such Casiano ....

Buy unidentified green and yellow bags and open them , then salvage and get the ecto’s from the rare’s and sell it , sell the mithril and the elderwood , gold makes more gold , sometimes people sell the ecto’s cheap , buy it and then wait till price get higher and sell it , the thing is , to do this you still need an amount of gold, a rare bag is like 19silver , an ecto 21 a 22 silver (there is a chance you will not got a ecto from it) there’s also a chance to get nice exotics from those bags which varies in price or some runes or Sigils to get , Make ascended mat’s to sell like damask patches and such, when you do it right, the amount of gold you have will increase but alas like I said before , you still need an amount of some gold , GuildMM and the other guy is right it takes a bit time but if you invest enough you will get much more!!

“Casiano” the one who was banned, would absolutely destroy you and a small group of your friends in wvw alone. He was in my guild for years before this crazy situation happened. Years while he was decently wealthy. He does have 40k ap. He actually played the game through and through. This isn’t a story about some kid with zero skills who needs some hacks to get content cleared. He was an extremely strong PvP player in all modes of the game. People who use exploits for self-aggrandizement on this scale should be banned. The people who reported the exploits, and effectively got ignored, should get more attention. Being a ”TP Baron”, I couldn't care less, but simply because I have 0 inclination of being such, being able to have more disposable gold would be nice, however. But there's a line between wanting a better income and pure greed. I don't know the guy, so I can't comment otherwise.

If these guys are doing it they have been doing very subtly and not to significant gain for a long time. They have been at it for like 8 years and have 1-2 million. 1-2 million is way different than 50 million +. Edit: “at it” meant making gold, not abusing duplication glitches
While they have absurd wealth in game, if their 1.5 million or so it to be believed that is less than 100k usd. Any extremely rich person could beat that value in a day if anets gemstore wouldn't crash just because they did this. For reference 100k usd is 1.7 million gold at current conversion rate
Are they hiding their best methods for gaining gold? Sure, but wouldn't you if you knew how to get an extra 100 gold a day but it only worked because no one else had found it? I am talking legitimate trading/off tp trading here not duplication. With duplication we are talking 10s of thousands of gold per day. Is off tp trading sketchy? Yes. Anet is kind of at fault for making an extremely high trading tax which incentivized people to trade elsewhere. Lower that tax and increase the drop rates of super valuable items and the use for off tp trading goes down heavily. GoM farming/ecto salvaging/spirit shard conversions and the like would still go on as would some off market trading, but the reasons for doing so for regular trades would drop heavily.

Yeaaaaaaa it does sound like that they are evading your questions by saying "it depends" instead of giving an actual example (even tho I know they don't mean to be evasive). I mean it's not that hard to demonstrate an easy buy order-salvage-sell like what they do here. It's much more tangible than going on and on about the theory of trading. Always demonstrate an actual case first, and if the apprentice is still interested in learning more of it in detail, then they can drill him the trading 101 / spreadsheet making 101 theory.
Thing is, they know whenever they give a specific item people who don't understand the TP will get burned buying it. Just during the stream those ripped pelts went up in TP price like 40c which wipes out the 32c profit margin. That information has a valid lifetime measured in minutes, not days.

I guarantee that tickets NEVER get sent to devs under any circumstances. Take it from someone who has tried communicating with customer support for several months on end for a single issue. An issue that CS cannot resolve on their own. Something that they admit was entirely on their end and requires the aide of a developer to resolve. An issue that wouldn't be resolved no matter how many times I requested it, to the point they would ignore responses and even let the ticket expire automatically.
This issue wasn't resolved until two things happened. They threatened to permaban me from customer support, despite using the process that they themselves said is valid. I was left no choice, but to threaten legal action. Within 12 hours they immediately solved the problem.
Anet-player communication is a facade. CS only exists to satiate their legal obligations.
Jesus the initial investment discussion was so infuriating to listen to, I have a lot of sympathy for Teapot.
On that note, went to GW2 efficiency to check when I first decided to get some gold and I went from 90g in 2017 to 1600g in the space of a month with no hoarded materials or investments. The ramp up was slow but there are so many markets you can supply for minimal effort if you just want some playing money and don't aim for baron levels.
Personally I only build gold when I dip below 3k and aim for 10k as my stopping point, having more gold than that seems pointless to me. I suggest others do the same, aim moderate rather than aiming high and being disappointed at the work load required.
Thing is I don't even know how to start. I have 130 gold, i would like some clear guidance but i really have no idea how to do things. I actually want to aim at similar amount, nothing too crazy, but have money to buy a cool weapon skin or things for collections
@@pyaac6475 at the start look at guides of fast farming spots and do them everyday until you have some thousands of gold and some materials. Then you can do what most barons do and start creating spread sheet in excell analysing the prices of things in the trading post. It's alot of daily work and if you don't like to look at numbers because it's boring has fuck forget it but if you are ok with it you can get rich easily.

I see it this way, being rich in any MMO is a game in of itself that you have to want to play. It’s not something I want to play so looking at rich people I don’t feel jealous of them. I personally want to do jumping puzzles, fractals, raids, and occasionally PvP and WvW. I don’t mind slowly working toward a legendary etc. The only times things become a problem is when dupers / cheaters mess with the price of something so much that it becomes basically a luxury item when it shouldn’t be, but I don’t see that being an enormous problem in GW2 given that most necessities have basically an unlimited supply.

I don't play GW2 any longer but I'm not surprised to hear about this. Same exact thing was going on in GW1 with Armbraces of Truth and other items. People who were in tight with Arenanet after the scandal broke were allowed to keep said Armbraces. Probably a ton of them still in the game.
When it comes to this, you can show the method but you cant show the consistent trade items or else it's ruined.
I make about 100g a day from casual flipping of the same items repeatedly, but Ik I can't share that or I'll lose it all
yeah I see people in this comments being so admired that they are vague in the responses. If they tell you every little detail they ruin their work, and I don't think they want that.
100g a day in flipping is good, but time consuming. I also flip tens of items daily and have been flipping the same items for months. making from as low as 1s-10g per item. 1s profit x couple of stacks and it adds up. 2-3g per item x 10-20 also adds up. flipping is time consuming but the gold per hour is easily above 30. however sometimes it may take weeks to sell an item but it still gives high % profit, so flipping is not for those who don't like seeing 0 gold in their inv. flippers love seeing low liquid gold cuz it means tons of investing ;)

Then shit myself a little for a second, overthinking how today will be the day someone puts a price wall on me and I lost everything XD

You don't need a degree in economics to understand that if you buy something to eventually sell at a profit, you're potentially depriving somebody who actually needs that thing to buy it at that price. So long as you make gold by flipping stuff at the TP rather than earning something from the game by playing it, you contribute NOTHING to the economy other than making prices higher for everyone else including those who actually need to use the stuff. Like the middlemen and the people who speculate in financial products and derivatives in the real world, these guys are nothing but parasites. There is no denying the effort and talent needed to be good at it. You can respect the dedication to the craft, but this craft is nothing but profiting off the desperate/lazy/ignorant while contributing nothing to the world.
They are profiting of the lazy yes, but to say that they contribute nothing is silly. The barons are pretty open about their methods (as seen here) and also assist multiple community projects. They aren't doing anything malicious or weird they just do what you or I do on a massive (and highly efficient) scale.

The ACT of flipping stuff on the trading post for profit is what contributes nothing, not the individuals themselves. I recognize their altruism in sharing their knowledge with the rest of the community but this is a zero sum game whereby if EVERY player practices this to the fullest, the average player will likely not acquire any tradeable item of any usefulness via the trading post. Also, I've not implied any sort of malice on the part of the barons, only just that the very act of commodity speculation benefits themselves at the expense of inflating prices beyond regular demand.

I don't think they are evil. They play the game efficiently and differently (TP/crafting) than normal people. That's fine. The duping method though, how can we be sure they didn't use it themselves?
There is no way to know for certain that the Barons or anyone for that matter (the next Casiano wannabe?) is using or has found another duping method unless we have access to the game code itself, which is why Anet's involvement in this matter is paramount. If Anet is unable to prevent another gold/item bug exploit incident, then this game will lose the trust of its user base very very fast.

It’s hard to believe that ANET wouldnt notice someone with 2 million USD worth of gold on their account. Combined with all the info we learned in this video. Something is very fishy here!
they have the code and the servers, they can dupe wathever they want with or without any bug. They don't need any bug to allow them to do that. Arena net doesn't check the value of accounts of the game unless someone report's people. Most games function like that. They know alot of people have pretty valuable accounts but they don't check if the items are earned ingame or by using exploits. Specially when those accounts make hundreads of transaction per day like most barons do. And when you trade those items to understand if they are duped they probably have to follow each transaction that that item has had, if the item rotates between dozens of accounts the amount of work to know if the item is duped or not is insane. I used to play Metin2 and old mmo and I remember that in the past there's was a bug ingame that also allowed duping of items, they just fixed the bug but people kept their duped items since it was almost imposible to track every duped item in the game. And again the devs only discovered the exploit because a tone o people mass reported the issue since alot of people where using the exploit. In this case it seems a small amount of people knew about the exploit.

That makes no sense.... they said in order to make 60 gold per hour you'd need 5k gold. Now they say you can double 1k into 2k in 5.5 hours.... complete contradiction
That 60g/h is a general figure from flipping (buy and sell directly, like stocks); it isn't rocket science if you can do it consistently and learn the market along the way in a few weeks.
Enko's methods (buy, process, sell) can give more g/h, but would need his massive amount of data that he gathered over the course of years and all his account infrastructure (which includes maxed bank tabs, all character slots available with 10x 32-slot bags and maxed shared inventory).
They do make it explicit in the video, if you review it.
Gw2 has probably the most exploited market I've seen, but it's pretty easy to get into and make gold

Buy unidentified green and yellow bags and open them , then salvage and get the ecto’s from the rare’s and sell it , sell the mithril and the elderwood , gold makes more gold , sometimes people sell the ecto’s cheap , buy it and then wait till price get higher and sell it , the thing is , to do this you still need an amount of gold, a rare bag is like 19silver , an ecto 21 a 22 silver (there is a chance you will not got a ecto from it) there’s also a chance to get nice exotics from those bags which varies in price or some runes or Sigils to get , Make ascended mat’s to sell like damask patches and such, when you do it right, the amount of gold you have will increase but alas like I said before , you still need an amount of some gold , GuildMM and the other guy is right it takes a bit time but if you invest enough you will get much more!!

“Casiano” the one who was banned, would absolutely destroy you and a small group of your friends in wvw alone. He was in my guild for years before this crazy situation happened. Years while he was decently wealthy. He does have 40k ap. He actually played the game through and through. This isn’t a story about some kid with zero skills who needs some hacks to get content cleared. He was an extremely strong PvP player in all modes of the game. I was shocked to hear about his exploits, but definitely spent hundreds of hours on discord chatting Casiano up

People who use exploits for self-aggrandizement on this scale should be banned. The people who reported the exploits, and effectively got ignored, should get more attention. Being a ”TP Baron”, I couldn't care less, but simply because I have 0 inclination of being such, being able to have more disposable gold would be nice, however. But there's a line between wanting a better income and pure greed. I don't know the guy, so I can't comment otherwise.

Most people either don't care, don't have the patience, or don't have the accounting skills to do what you guys are talking about. There are fake barons and there are the legit ones that put in the work. I don't fault you guys at all. You're good at what you do and as far as I can tell, you work within the rules.
