IMPORTANT: I made a mistake in this video but fortunately it doesn't affect the outcome in any way so I don't think there's a need to refilm. I recommend watching the video first (if you haven't) and then checking the bottom of this pinned comment for details on what the mistake was! In case anyone is wondering why Physical Training wasn't used to reduce Kentaurosmon's evolution cost at 03:59, you can't stack Trainings with evolutions that are resolved as part of other effects. This is because the Training effects are [Main] timing and ask you to perform the evolution as part of the effect, so they cannot be used to discount evolutions that are performed as part of other effects. Anyways, about this matchup, as a big fan of the tribal Kentauros build from back in BT13, I love what the new evolution line does for the deck's setup speed. Mitama is... alright, I love the combo into a side Kentauros for 4 damage like I showcased in the video but I think I'll still be waiting on a Kentauros X to take the deck further. On the other hand, GraceNova is definitely a bit clunky but I feel like if they do ever provide the deck with more support for consistency, it might be a little too much? Even if its current state is not consistent enough to make waves in the competitive scene, I feel like it is 'fine' as it is - I do quite enjoy piloting it so far. But when it bricks hard, MAN. In addition, it seems I wasn't even using the deck to its full potential - could have saved additional Memory each turn by reordering the regressions and evolutions. The mistake: at 8:17, when Apollomon bombs Mitamamon, it should regain its SA+2 there and go for 2 additional checks. In other words, Apollo/Diana would have won without needing to go GraceNova.
Just something to note, if you have one or multiple Koh & Sayo on field (red tamer), you can first use their effect first to regress the Lv4 and evo back to Lv4, then evolving into Lv5 for free with Sunmon, then regress with Lv3 inheritable back to Lv4, gain 2 memories and pay 1 to evo into Lv5 again, which is slightly more memory efficient. Regarding to the deck, I think Promo card Ukkomon helps the deck alot and the random D-Reaper searcher.
Easily one of the most hype games on this channel, Dawn and dusk for my first Digimon games and it’s perfectly showcased why I am excited for this deck to come out
I was hoping for another banger of a match and got more than I bargained for here. I admit I had to rewind a couple of times when I heard the Dawn/Dusk OST because it got me that much more hype seeing this match play out Semi-Finals are gonna be some real good ones to watch
Those first 5 minutes were terrifying from Mitamamon... but GraceNovamon bouncing up and down its own digivolution line was so cool. I'm reminded of my favourite deck, Examon, with the its shenanigans for accelerating to the top. I love level 7 DNA secret rares from EX sets 😂
I can't wait to play a grace nova deck, dusk and dawn were responsible for really getting me hooked on digimon as a franchise xP Well, that and digimon world 3.
Dude, what a match, that was some of the best ones in months, both decks developed so well, I was shocked with mitamamon's second turn, I thought there was no way buck, but gracenova did so well. The mitama's stun with security attack with kentaurus' signature was so strong, but luckily grace nova got the last apollo in the deck, what a clutch! GraceNova's deck really represents Digimon Dusk/Dawn with the "return evo" mechanic, so important in the game, and mitama's synergy with kentaurus, I have no words. Thanks for the amazing video as always, rust.
Wow I was not expecting that ending. Both of these decks are pretty nasty now that I see them in action. Really crazy gameplay going on. I couldn't root for either of them cuz they were both so good looking.
This match was amazing! GraceNova actually has a soft spot for me, as when I was running a Digimon TTRPG with some friends, one of them went with Lunamon as their partner. Decided to make an NPC who was a member of these group of lost DigiDestined have Coronamon as his partner, and due to circumstances slightly inspired by Xenoblade 2 he fused with his partner into Apollomon to prevent himself from dying. Later on Apollomon was fatally wounded, and split itself apart again to save his tamer, with Coronamon's spirit going into Lunamon's Tamer's Digivice. They would later on utilize said spirit to evolve Dianamon into GraceNova.
Ah this was such a cool fight. I hadn't realised the grace nova deck was like sun and moon dragons from yugioh somewhat in they constantly switch places like the changing from day and night.
Excelent match, I'm glad we'll get to see more of the GraceNova deck. Speaking of; as we move into the semi-finals, I'm rooting for Etemon but I expect MelgaX to tear through him, while I could go either way for GraveNova vs Leviamon. (Maybe lean a bit to GraceNova since we know we'll see more of Leviamon). [Narrator voice]: Though Kentaurosmon & Sampson tried to talk the digital visitors into questioning Matt's guilt; the conflict has tragically ended with the 2 Olympos XII members only more resolved to hunt down Matt now that evidence has come to light pointing to him working with the Great Demon Lord that has torn through the Devas, one of the Four Sovereigns, and even Fanglongmon himself. Unwilling to let this stand, the two leave to confront the rampant Demon Lord, with intent to subdue his believed-to-be partner in crime soon after. Meanwhile, Matt tries to rendezvous with Leomon, his one ally left; only to find himself encountering an old enemy standing in Leomon's place.
Grace nova winning is not surprising at all. The mitama deck did a lot better than I think anyone whos been paying attention to the Japanese EX5 meta would've thought, especially with such a stern tribal ken build, but the Gracenova deck is just too powerful. The evolution stacking effect as well as the synergy with the tamers to effectively never need to worry about memory on your turn makes it a very formidable deck in the meta but now with BT15 seeing its emergence this deck will most likely fade into obscurity as just another fun gimmick deck of the likes of Alter omni and Purple imperial. Still a very fun match up, can't wait to see Gracenova against purple Melga in the finals.
8:19 Since Mitamamon is deleted, its effect is no longer reducing the security checks of apollomon. The deletion occurs even before Apollomon battles the security digimon. After the check, apollomon will be back at security attack +2 and will check 2 more security
Yep, just realised I made a mistake there. Thanks for pointing it out! Fortunately it doesn't change the outcome - don't think I'll have the time to refilm this one
Spoilers. It seems like i will be eating my words. Mitama lost. Sad to see even after another round of support, they lost 1st round again. At least it was super close. Least we got a glimpse into gracenovas bricking problems. I hope people won't get the wrong idea that is is consistent. The deck could probably be fixed by another set of lvl 3/4s but right now it ain't there all the way.
I was also rooting for Mitamamon this round. I think the Gatomon stuff in BT15 gives the deck a pretty significant boost. Hopefully we get another wave of support for the Kentaurosmon X that really brings it all together.
yeah I can see the bricking problems, though neat idea to tech in Heroes of the Skies to help you draw into stuff with the Draw 2 for 2 costs, even though they didn't actually use it in this match.
Thanks for keeping your word. I will say though i figured out the problem with my mitama deck so at the very least i will take back what i said about it being a waste of an sr slot.
Geez, both these decks are insane* *when they don't brick. I saw that turn 2 pop off from Mitama and got a little scared about the state of power creep in the game. Explosive match though, very fun to watch.
Im really late for this, but even if Apollomon checked all 3 and left Kentaurusmon at 0 Security, Kentaurusmon had the win, the following security was Odin's Breath, wich would have left Kentaurus at 1 security, but at the Kentaurus turn, all he needed was to attack over the Apollomon, who had 18k DP due to inherited effects, Kentaurus would activate effect, trash their last security, unsuspend and give -7k DP to the Apollomon, leaving it at 11k DP (9k if you add EX5 Kudamon's effect), Kentaurus had 13k DP, deleting it, then swing for security. With this, Gracenova would be at 0 security, no digimon in breeding nor in play, meanwhile kentaurus has both a digimon in play and one in breeding, so the game would be theirs.
@8:30 I wondering since mitamamon was destroyed before apollomon attack finished apollomon S.Attack should be go back to 3 so It should be continuing 2 more security checks.
Yep, just realised I made a mistake there. Thanks for pointing it out! Fortunately it doesn't change the outcome - don't think I'll have the time to refilm this one
Question during galactics second turn when apollomon attacks wouldn’t it continue to do checks after it deletes mitamamon because it would lose the sec -2

why did you use heros of the skies instead of fire ball? it has a better security effect and its pretty similar. Gracenova is such an awesome deck, nice video!
Fireball would work just as well, I guess because the delete effect has to take effect first, if you do delete something then you don't get the 2 draw. Whereas Heroes is guaranteed 2 draw when played. Both are great, but I can see the reasoning for Heroes over Fireball.
Both are definitely great! But as Vaeltis said, Fire Balls can whiff. If opponent goes first and drops a searcher or any other Lv.3 and your starting hand has no Lv.3/4s but has Fire Ball/Hero, Hero has a better chance of kickstarting your deck. That's why I chose it!
