ResinScales is way more expensive cuz 3D print technology allows more fine detail but also takes longer to properly design and print plus material cost.
I have purchased a Mammut from Andy's as well, It is almost finished. Easy build, now waiting for the time to paint. GRRRRR have to wait for payday.......(*^*&%^$@^(*(^#$^%^4#% !!! .. to buy the next one.
1:45 the 120 ton version is apparently the exact same vehicle without applique armor (which would bring the weight up to 150 tons). It was never completed, AFAIK. It is mentioned in American post-war documents (Feb. 1946) on Japanese vehicles, so it did exist as a project, at least. There is only one track link left at JGSDF camp Takigahara.
I am not into 'paper tanks' or ' one off builds' but the Japanese tank would look very nice when made up and painted and weathered, thanks for sharing Andy, best regards to you and your family and friends from Australia.
150t is slightly exceeding 2 modern MBTs. However at that time... it would compare to like 450t today (my opinion only ofc, the comparison is based on technological advances only in machinery mechanics and... other engineering magic).
I'm wondering if their O-I is a copy from the Fine Molds one since Fine Molds is the only one in the world that have histrical accurate drawing of the O-I and they were the first one to make a model of it.
I've pre-ordered the 168 and looking at the model it's a similar kit to the Mammut kit with of course double tracks. What a trio too. The O-I tank I've used in World of Tanks, very slow took a lot of hits.
O-I tank is in the "World of Tanks" game. Loading the main gun took a long time. That made her vulnerable and she has to rely on her thick metal plates. Japan had a huge problem. The weight of the tank was difficult to transfer to islands and jungles. Short of materials also made the plan to build a medium tank a serious problem.
Someone needs to do a 1/35 P1000. 3 feet (1 meter) long, 1 foot (30cm) high in 1/35, it wouldn't need to kit in a display case, you could use it as a coffee table.
As the Chieftan commented when doing the Mause video, how the heck do you service the road wheels when they're hidden behind several centimetres of fixed armoured skirt - ?
It will certainly make an impressive model, though it looks like a child's drawing of a tank and I suspect that in real life it would have been about as effective - impossible to transport, probably ridiculously unreliable, and a nightmare to command.
@@Kevin-mx1vi It was modular, so they could in theory get it to the staging area. Once they put it together though, it would've immediately sunk into the dirt on the Manchurian steppe and made for very slow going at best. The prototype did not do well on its only real trial run. But what a real monster-10 meters long and nearly 4 meters wide and tall.
@@thenumbah1birdman ah, thanks, I didn't know it was modular. Anyway, I reckon it would have either bogged or broken down the first time it got into less than perfect terrain and then have to be disassembled in order to retrieve it - something that might prove "tricky".
Can't help but notice that all three of these tanks are present in World of Tanks and I don't think this is a coincidence. I'd love to build the O-I, but I'm afraid it's modeled to be more like the in-game vehicle instead of following the surviving blueprints and data. Can anyone confirm or deny my concerns?
I wonder if they just took a render from Wot and stuck it on as God would have it? in any case, in the original set they have problems with the cooling system
In contrary, manufacturers finally noticed videogames became popular and are building stuff directly from them. This things are lifted from World of Tanks and Tacom did prety decent marketing stunt with unveiling them one after another during as they called it "Behemoth Attack".
Takom - your first choice to built your favorite WoT tech tree tanks.
Yup
Or resinscales. But WAY expensive
Yes, though I doubt the VK.168.01 is anyone's favourite...
Would love a Takom 1/35 Bourrasque because I'm not paying $160 for the resin version...
ResinScales is way more expensive cuz 3D print technology allows more fine detail but also takes longer to properly design and print plus material cost.
There's a single track link from the O-I heavy tank still existing today
Just brought the takom MAMMUT super heavy tank , now I want all of them!!
And that sound you just heard is my credit card screaming for mercy 🥺
Me too

I don't even build 1/35 but all these kits coming from Takom make me happy
Living video to video I swear lol, always on edge for what you are going to post next. NEVER disapointed!
Becoming Andy’s Takom Headquarters
Now we just need a TOG II :)
Yes pleeaase!
The mighty hot dog! Yeas please!!

Think of the diorama you could build, a super heavy tank vs. Godzilla...
You could always get the OI kit and just build a single track link since that's all that actually survived :P
Another addition to my collection of multi-turreted tanks. Thanks Andy, another excellent review.
That must be so awesome to get these kits before anyone else!
Nice, time to add to the collection!

Wow!!! Great review of these kits extraordinary kits
My fav 1/35th scale
Great video Andy
Thank you!
Anyone who has played World Of Tanks in the last couple of years past tier 5 is familiar with the O-I.
Or anyone who read up Japanese tank history knew about the O-I project way before WG even create it into their game.

Cool kits............ 👍👍
I wanna see you build the O-I!

Great kits. Will be bought.
I think what remains of the Japanese 100ton prototype is a single track link mounted on a wall in a museum
Hey Andy cool looking tanks thanks for sharing. 🙂Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist
Thanks for watching!
It would be cool to build a WWII 1946 what if diorama with one of these tanks and a Pershing or some other what if tank scene.
Still waiting for a 1:35 tog2
Great looking kiits Andy and very reasonably priced 👍👍

Nice parts review Andy.👍
Thanks for the great video
Great video!
The Japanese tank would make a great proxy for the WH40K Baneblade!
I have already bought the O-I

You should build that Japanese beast Andy!

What about that ’new’ tracks from Takom? How it holds by time? Painting and weathering?
setting my hopes on getting the O-I
it's a fun troll tank in World of Tanks :p
Lol

This O-I is actually from real blueprint, fine molds buy the blueprint and make 1/72 scale this tank
hey can you make a vedio of bulding these super heavy tanks? (Im sorry for my bad English)
I want that O-I

What happened to your build of 5'35 twin turret?
DS tracks?
Lol, your 1/16 sherman is quite small now in comparisone :P
I love vk 168.01p and the maus
Just when I got my finances in order...
I wonder if they just took a render from Wot and stuck it on as God would have it?

You can drive them all in World of Tanks. Also, prepare to be very angry and frustrated not long after you start playing this game.
Iwant that hOI
I'd rather built a 7,5-cm-Pak 40 (SF) auf GW 39 (f) or a M3 Grant before I try one of those fantasy products.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝
Wow...the manufacturers must be running out of subject matter. I'm not at all interested in "paper" AFV's, but whatever blows your skirt up.

Prices on these Andy
Excellent Video!
