My favorite times are spent with my kids! 2 of them are pretty much out on their own now. Crazy how quick it happens!

Good video and with Kaden totally involved, really like the solar set up, did you get the power station from Amazon as well? The sawmill boards are looking great, wonder how much they will warp but hey just cut more.

Thanks! The power station was another one I got when I was doing the cabin build. It was a sponsor product, but you can get them on Amazon. It is very handy to have in there.

Nice that Caden is learning to run the mill. The shed looks good and now you have lights to work into the night. Take care and stay safe.

Woah that's some crazy draw for an off grid lighting set up.
We have 1750 watts of solar at our farm and the interior lights in the cabin are about 5 watts at night with the string lights or 30 watts with the dimmable central light. Our big draw is the mini split. It can draw almost 1000 watts briefly but regular is 300~400 watts. I can't believe the lights will draw as much as our AC!
I get the need for camera lighting but I wonder if there is a compromise there for you. Dimmer switch?

That is a good point! I never would have used those lights in a cabin or setup like that where I would need more power. I. The shed, I don’t have a big draw on power and usually have days for it to recharge after use so I’m not too concerned with that. I’m more concerned with good bright light when I need it.

Thank you! Caden’s good. He sometimes gets camera shy and I have to catch him off guard to get him to be himself. 😊 I mentioned jokes to him again the other day. I always enjoyed those. 👍

On the outside of the shed put a zip tie around the cable coming from the panel, when it rains the water looks like it will run right to the battery bank.

Great idea! I should have left a drip loop and I didn’t think of it. I will do that! Thank you.

I grew up on a farm and was my Dads shadow outside, it’s nice for Caden to learn like this. My one concern is that moisture could get in right above the charger system through that gap under the roof if wind blows rain in from that side

    • @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
      @PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead  3 месяца назад

It’s possible, but that corner is opposite prevailing winds so with the roof angle and all, I am pretty confident that it is protected.
Thanks for watching and commenting! 😊

I light my shop with regular led bulbs and only draw about 130 watts but I ain't making videos it's a real small draw on the geniverse

I need to install those and use the high bays only when I’m actively filming. The high bays draw well over 300watts

Good morning, Lucas. I love how y😢ou are teaching Caden like it shows you taught your other son, Cameron (I think that is his name, sorry if I got it wrong, I have a tendency to forget names). Somewhere you mentioned you have 2 grown sons. I have not met the other one. What is his name?
One thing I am a little worried. The area where you have the power plant may get wet because I can see light going through the planks. Maybe consider putting more planks just in that area. Or maybe the rain goes the other direction, I don't know.
I just love your cabin, the shed, and all your builts.. Best wishes.

Thank you! So I actually have an older daughter, Cloe. She owns a coffee shop (with my wife)…
The light you see is from before I installed all of the batten strips. That wall is pretty sealed up now. I think it will be fine.
