    One of the best things about any Leica RF for people who actually use them is, you can get them repaired pretty easily, and with confidence. Repairs aren't cheap, but at least it's 100% possible. As time goes on, it seems to me that won't be the case with less popular cameras. I do need a light meter though, and have an M6. I use the meter like I use exposure compensation on my DSLR: adjust it when the lighting changes (walk into the shade of a building, sun goes behind clouds, etc), and then not worry about it for individual shots so I can focus on the subject and composition.

    • @NicosPhotographyShow
      @NicosPhotographyShow  5 лет назад

      Very true! I sadly had a M6 I was going to buy that was so used that it was not worth mending. Metering for me has become a eye thing and so far it works most of the times, I do carry the Sekonic and sometimes double check to see if Im right. Most times im close enough :)

Gracias!

I just put in my first roll of film and snapped one sunrise pic so far. Waiting for this weekend to take it out and really put it to the test. I love my Kiev 4AM, aledgely it has the largest base, also I love Helios 103, in my opinion one of the greatest 50mm lens, but as a photographic tool nothing can compare with EOS - greatest camera on earth.

    • @ytdanielle
      @ytdanielle 5 лет назад +1

      EOS is digital control of the photographic process, auto-focus, instant spot meter, auto-exposure, 1/8000s, on view finder EV, 1 finger exposure change, 1 finger EV compensation, greatest lens selection including tele and image stabilisation (I say greatest because any EF type lens - Zeiss makes EF lens also - works and this is not the case with Nikon and others).
      I love shooting manual, but as a photographic tool that alow you to rapidly make precise adjustmensts EOS is far above. Plesure vs control :-)
      I try both.

      The only insurmountable issue is the focal length (and image stabilization, and zoom).
      Over 135 mm you are out of range.
      There is not such a thing zoom foot, the required space can`t be available and the image change with distance as proportions and DOF.

    M4 is literally everything you mentioned with "Why M2" except for frame advance and frame count/loading/unloading is way way more important than that for most people. Honestly either wind-on is fine with me, the re-wind and loading for a shooting camera is night and day.
    The M4 (NOT the M4-2/M4-P) is a much improved M2 (and I think even the VF is better than the M2 in terms of white-out resistance and clarity)

    Lots of good points. Though, sunny 16 may be fine for B&W, but for slides sorry but a camera without a light meter is an annoying limitation, the exposure latitude is much too narrow, and the film + processing too expensive to miss a shot. So I won't put 500€/700$ for a body because of this. (I usually carry 2 or 3 cameras for B&W and color and/or slide to accommodate all subjects, plus a hand-held light meter with both incident and reflection metering. Most often than not, my slide roll is in an 80s-90s area camera.)

      Probably not easy to find a mint 60 year old camera, but yeah, I have always been ok with a well loved camera. Mint or not it will take the same pics. So maybe the boxed ones are 3K. Good for collectors. From the two I own I didn’t pay 1K together. Both take great images, when I point the right way ;)

    For left eyed shooters, get a Canon VT Deluxe. You'll see why.

    why is the M2 better than the MP?

      Better wouldn't be the way I would say it. To me the lack of meter is not a problem and the fact that I can buy 4 to 5 M2 for the price of one MP. Also after using the MP for a year and then picking up my M2 it felt better when using. It was just the feeling it gave me.

      Having only used the MA once its a great camera but if you find one for the price of a M2 let me know straight away! ;)

    The M2 would be my choice if I didn't need 28mm and preferred a black camera. I got the M4-P instead. It's got a hot shoe aswell and cost about as much as an M2. The black ppaint M2 is the prettiest camera ever though.

      Black paint is amazing, I had the black MP without batteries for a while and loved my 28mm on it. Sold both sadly. Miss 28mm a lot.

    I'm a left eye shooter. Is it really that horrible on a Leica rangefinder? I've only shot a Minolta Hi-matic rangefinder and those rangefinder patches are absolutely rubbish. Focusing one of those compared to any decent slr is a complete joke.

      Nope! Many Leica shooters are left eye shooters. It's not a problem at all.

    Conclusion : He uses M2 because it's just a mechanical camera and cheap not many features. And has 35 mm frame line
