Awesome video, and great advice. I want the FLX10, but I still have my DDJ-1000s, I had the S1>SX,>SZ>1000 each upgrade was because the next step one was a major upgrade. But since the 1000 nothing has come out that adds functionality I am missing. SX added pads and 4 channel, SZ added dual USB, dedicated Mic channels, and full sized CDJ platters, the 1000 added real CDJ platters.
I picked mine up last night, my third-ever controller coming from an FLX-4, and then the 6. This is by far the best piece of audio equipment ive picked up. Ive only ever played a vynl about a month ago and still working on the quirks of Serato. ITS STILL SUPPORTED ON THE LATEST VERSION OF SERATO on Mac m1; everything works flawlessly. Picked it up from a lady on marketplace who found it in a shipping container for 200 Bucks!!!
As someone that has 50k just chill in the garage that I don’t even use, and I have PLX1ks, MK5s, S7, both Rane 57s, CDJs, and getting another set up this year Crss12s and a new mixer. I respect it, for people that does want to get every apple line that comes out like I do, it’s far cheaper… I wish I didn’t need to upgrade laptops so much. I always sell my old one for a good amount so it’s the same sh** as waiting years, and most cases I come up a hair more because people know my sh** does get used as much, I think it’s all a waste of money now tho, pushing 40, idk why I care to keep up with my gear, but I can afford it so why not😊
There's nothing wrong with getting new gear, especially if you can afford it. Rock on, man. For a while I was obsessed with my gear and never feeling like it was enough. So I did the same as you, just bought everything under the sun. But then I realized I wasn't using any of it to the fullest. In fact, I had more features, but not using them. And my crowds didnt care at all what I had as long as I was playing good music. I decided to expand my skill instead and use what I have. I found that it wasnt the gear that was lacking. I got lazy on my skill. So I focus on that instead. My philosphy now is, what good is a racecar if you dont ever race it or even know how to handle it at those speeds. I want to be exceptional with the cheapest thing. It keeps me grounded to whats really important, music and the crowd. Thanks for the comment!!
@ tables and CDJs aren’t a waste. Items that are a waste are laptops, sound, mixers, controllers and lighting. If you’re not using them. The one thing no one will regret is a good set of turntables/ CDJs. It looks and sounds like a lot, but I’ve Deejayed all over Cali, had my company for a little, and then worked for a company, when they’re making a few million a year, gear isn’t sh**, but I wish someone would of told me, radio, clubs and a look isn’t anything. Do it for fun or money and you’ll be happy.
I forgot to address the weight in my video. I carried a DJ coffin with turntables, amps, and record crates. The weight doesn't bother me and its a relief from all that. 10+ years, and I've been everywhere with it. Its weight has never been an issue. That complaint always sounded silly to me. Just my opinion.
I literally bought one last night, the owner I bought it from said he'd bought a Rane controller and couldn't justify keeping it even though he preferred it over his new controller. It's such a cool controller and built like a tank.
The problem with not buying new gear is the industry ends up discontinuing not just the gear but also the software that these controllers use. When you go to find a driver and it's not there I know you could probably find it on the website somewhere but this is the very reason why people upgrade, because they're forced to.
Last night a Numark saved my life ♫ ♪ ♬

DJ envy is a costly habit. I'm still using my 10yr old DDJ SX2, it's never let me down. The thing is built like a tank.
Preach on Bro. The SX2 is dope.

get to it!!!
stems?? streaming??
I can do both. Its a workhorse. The thing is solid.
@ dope as long as I got my stems and streaming I’m good! Everything else is extra! That’s why I hate CDJs. No streaming or stems! Wack!!
Stems and streaming has more to do with the computer you use not the controller.
@ I need it
