The throwback to bill losing that big fish. He’s so calm about it. Probably has landed many larger fish so that one was no sweat. I’d be crying my way to the nearest bar.
The unique thing about these Atlantic salmon is that they are actually feeding during their 'spawning run'. I guess it is because they are moving from fresh water to fresh water. Normally sea-going Atlantic salmon don't feed when they are returning to fresh water to spawn. They then only strike lures and flies out of 'aggressiveness', not to eat something...
Hmmmmm. A Canadian Fishery benefiting from American stocking yet again. Time to ask the MNR and Canadian government where YOUR license fee is going, and maybe not relying on the volunteers.

Great episode!
You know you're at that age, when you fall down and you don't even bother to try to get yourself up. Why stress when someone else will do it for you.
I usually catch and release but that smelt fed hawg made my mouth water.
Why does he say northern ontario when Sault st marie is southern ontario? Very southern ontario!
Looks like the new fly fisher needs a couple hosts who can land fish…
I never knew you could troll with fly rods 🤯
Works great. A Maine tradition.
