    Alright guys, we've got a couple videos coming out soon about air suspension on the bug.
    These videos will show you the absolute simplest and easiest way to slam a Type 1 VW.
    The bug is going pretty low now, (even lower than showed in this first video,) but I do not have a narrowed beam. I also have no welded in adjusters. Also these are not stock 4.5" wheels; these are 5.5” all around. I also do not drop spindles, yet. Once we do the drop spindles, it should lay the front beam on the ground.
    In this video, we installed the EMPI 40.5" Front Trailing Arm Through Rod Kit with the added Bronze Washers and Nylon Lock Nuts on the ‘77 Standard Beetle. We also installed Monroe Air Shocks MA756's on the front to have air ride adjustability. Another good idea is to, run the middle Pinch Bolt/Grub Screw all the way in, because the through rod doesn’t turn. Then there is no way you will have any play from side to side, which is a concern for some. Anyways, it looks pretty awesome! Video for the rear is coming up next!
    Guys are asking what’s all been done to it.
    Here’s the list:
    4 Speed Hurst Shifter

    The traditional old "weld-in" adjusters allow the center fixture to be adjusted to various ride-height positions.
    Since that component can rotate, what would happen if I just removed the "grub screws" from the center of the beams and plugged the holes?

      @dwalker399 3 года назад +1

      You are right. And if you hit a pot hole or cross rough railroad tracks without any air in the shocks. Good luck. Somethings going to give. Now in the old days we would just use a piece of threaded rod to do this. But only through the top tube. And keep the spring pack in the bottom tube. That way you always had at least some amount of suspension travel.

    • @HiRevzMedia
      @HiRevzMedia  3 года назад +1

      It’s very bad on air shocks to have no air in them at all. With enough air in them, the car feels completely comfortable and stock going down the road. We ended up in a later video adding 2.5” drop spindles to the car so we could add a lot of air, but still be somewhat low going down the road. Because our setup is not narrowed, it is impossible to turn, unless you have plenty of air in the shocks.

      firstname lastname I understand where your logic is coming from, I originally thought the same thing. You say that it is inevitable, how many known cases do you know of where that has happened? Also, if this is inevitable, what about the thousands of users that are out there that have done it this exact way? Also what about all of the guys that slam their bugs the traditional way with narrowed adjustable beams? My two previous adjustable beam cars had the lower grub screw completely removed and the top one all the way down. Both of those cars were still relying on the air shocks to hold them up. What about all of the off-road applications were they run this kit and coilovers? This very car had KYB gas shocks on it which held the suspension all the way up, and thus relying on the shocks to do all the work. There are also multiple companies that sell this exact same type of kit.

    • @HiRevzMedia
      @HiRevzMedia  4 года назад +2

      Also, a note from Pete Skiba the President & CEO at Airkewld.com, “Over 15,000 of these kits on the market and zero broken studs....ever. It’s completely safe.”
      Over 15,000 sold just from Airkewld and they’ve never heard of anyone breaking off the lower shock stud. Many other companies have the same parts and no issues.

    125 front tires are lethal , should not be used on public roads on a bug, on a drag strip, sure, go ahead. Braking is not a high priority there.
    I can't advise anything less than 155 width on the front of a bug. That's where approx. 80 per cent of weight transfers to when stopping a bug and why the front brakes are providing approx. 80 per cent of total stopping power.
    Being killed/crushed to death on a public road is not a good/cool look for you or your Bug.
    Why not fit a stock 14 inch wheel from a Bus at the front instead for an easy lower look of that silly, tucked fad is what you wanna die for?
