Stairs, Ramps, Hand rails, Bathrooms and Windows IS THE ETERNAL battle of the architect. I'm glad that you are giving us this for free. It is greatly appreciated. People must get in their mind that REVIT IS a parametric DOCOUMENTATION program where every object belongs to a FAMILY. I draw with pencil and paper in hand, then translate to Auto Cad with the layers, then go to Rhino Grasshopper for component design, generative design, modeling, simulation and coordination retro feedback with Revit. Revit/Rhinoceros COMBO is way TOO powerful.
This video is what everyone needs to see before modeling stairs. Good advice about not necessarily needing to go all out in getting things modeled. Can always supplement with detail lines or other detail drawings. You’ll usually have a chance to review some shop drawings from the contractor to make sure things aren’t completely out of wack.
Thank you so much, very helpful, learned a bunch, and will watch more, already subscribed, Stairs / Railings I believe are the biggest pain in the butt with Revit IMO, and literally currently trying to correct/fix what my company's railings look like
Hi! I have a question, im working in Revit 2023 and when i do my railing using "place on stair/ramp" i get like one only guardrail + handrail in both sides. I can´t separate them and when i try to delete by sketck it doesnt work. Please help, i dont know if im doing something worn. Thank you so much!
So, i am working on a stair with intermediate landings, and I need hand/guardrail inside and the outside of the stair, but when I try to split the rails, I get an error concerning "extensions" seems to me, making it a rail (just a guard) without extensions then splitting, would defeat the purpose? any help, or suggestions?
For something specific like that, I would use 2 different rails. Basically paste in same place then change the rail to just the handrail. Give you more flexibility if a guard and handrail act differently. I would also only add extensions to handrail only rails which will make things easier to manage for you.
can u pls explain, in Baluster placement ,why that start pattern and end patterns are N/A & distance from previous is only editable in end pattern why cant in start pattern ,,if possible how to activate that distance from previous in start pattern
i am no architect but i need a second and third opinion. im building 3 floor building 45 width by 60 length. i have a 77x100 plot of land and the building needs to remain 10 feet from the sides which means i only have 45+10+10...thus making that 65 feet and i only have 6 ft on each side to play with. How can i get a multiple story staircase to accommodate it...any suggestions or email address i can get a different opinion from...
Your content is wonderful, but please stop waving the cursor over the model constantly, as it produces "blue lightning!" It's like watching a video with flashing lights, and is very distracting.

@18:04 Can you do the same thing to the top rail? I have found that editing the path in that way is not available for the top rail. have you tried?
