Love old machines. I’m the proud owner/operator of a 1973 Melreo 600 series bobcat. It’s a remarkable machine that does a remarkable amount of work. If I was younger I’d seek out a machine like yours, or a DROT.
I've got a 941B. Think its a 1975 model. Haven't had many issues with it. I try to take my time because something breaks when I'm in a hurry. Looks good to me.
I am basically never in 3rd gear and only 2nd in a straight line. These machines weren’t built for speed, but last forever at a slow pace. Glad you like the vids👍
That’s my custom hard nose cage after pulling the radiator 4 times. It’s worked so far but I haven’t been pushing too hard either. The way the radiator is hard mounted is a design flaw, but the cage is working so far
@@Man-Time I ran a lot of loader in the strip mine so production was always priority.Best case scenario is truck backed up to the muckpile on a slight angle. You basically dig right behind the truck tire so your then backing out a short distance and with little turning. My loader was the big leternou which was biggest in the world at one time and could load 200 ton cat trucks in 4 passes. And ive ran a lot of other big cats and graders and i'll say this. The bigger they are the easier they are to run. The small iron and older machines take a lot more skill and seat of the pants operating.Awesome video, hope you get her back working!
That’s the ideal load out for sure. I’ve actually toured the Letureanu plant. Those are BIG MACHINES! Glad you liked and shared. The vid on my channel right after this one I go through the repair. Check it out
@@Man-Time I think Komatsu owns them now. They built a lot of big stuff and even had their own threads, bolts and nuts. When the mine I was at tried to use jobber bolts in the lift ram caps they broke and that size loader could lift 70 tonnes so it was a good thing he was not over the truck. They tool all their own stuff and have a foundry as well. A tour would be a real treat. Mine was the L-1800 diesel electric with a 1400 hp 16 cylinder cummins. it could go from zero to 8 mph in the blink of an eye. it had reverse select shifting so when your going into the bank you could put it in reverse and when you let your foot off the go pedal it reversed. By far the most comfortable loader I have ever run. search out LeTourneau cold start up on youtube to hear one of the sweetest sounds you will ever hear.
What year 941 is that? It looks like one of the early models, an original 941A but as you know, the 941's were produced from 1968 to 1980 when they retired the 941B from production. Thanks for the great video! Love watching old machinery work.
I think it’s a 70. Hard to say for sure, but definitely an early model. The guys at Cat said it’s one of 6000. Most I see have the flat bar bucket links. I rebuilt this one and use it pretty regular👍! I am mesmerized by old good running equipment and show lots of it on this channel. Thanks for watching!
Hey there DUDEZILLA!!! I was watching 'Salvage Workshop' and I was introduced to the ALMIGHTY Traxcavator! I was wondering, he spent an episode just getting a gas (pony engine) going. He explained that it was to start the diesel. I noticed that you don't have one on yours. Was it just put on the earlier models?
The pony motors were used before the high torque starters and high amp alternators of today mostly. I actually had to convert mine over to an alternator. Glad you liked the vid. I like using the old Cat for sure👍
Hey man I’m looking around for one of these but ever since I not that 35g excavator I told u about I’m not full of money anymore lol nice bulldozer man 👍
Thanks Brayys! This was about a 2 year project for me slowly building back to a reliable machine. To bad you can’t post a pic of your machine. I’d love to see it

This machine took me years before I got all the bugs worked out. Worth it! I’ll have to check out that bobcat👍

That's some pretty good D.G. you have their. Decomposed granite. That's what's on the ground at Dodger stadium. In California
7 minutes...bummer! Nice equipment!!
Always enjoy the dirt moving vids. Hope it's any easy fix.
Excellent video. What's the custom three-bar set up (0:10) on top of the hood?

I love the older equipment. A buddy of mine has a cat 955L traxcavator and it’s awesome. Great vid keep them coming!!!
Awesome old machines right! Thanks for the support!
if your truck was any farther away you would have to e-mail it the load. Just kidding! I used to tell my truckers that all the time.
I’m gonna work on that. The layout my dirt site only allows this parking spot for the truck. But I want to change that. Good advice👍

Thanks for the 411!
You were getting better as you went. The old equipment is cheap to buy, but then you have to do the repairs.
Yeah since I don’t run her regular it takes a few scoops to get reacquainted with the old girl. Welcome to Man Time!
Dont worry man, fix it! Good vid!

@@Man-Time ok today once I’m done working with some other stuff I’ll see if I can get a pic
Full buckets every time, got to put the Dog on a leach.
Any dog that can’t avoid a 3mph 150db machine isn’t any dog I want
Drone what kind ? Lol
mate put a muffler on it drive the operator mad that sound all day
I’ve heard that but never experienced it. The raw exhaust just makes me let out a grungy man noise.
You need to fit an exhaust stack on that machine so you will not be breathing cancer giving exhaust fumes.
Those fumes fuel me. They smell like testosterone and MAN
Lol !!
For a Job like that ! You need a BIGGER !! TRAXCAVATOR !! INSTEAD OF !! A HAND !! SHOVEL !!
I know right! It’s character makes up for it’s size though... lol!
