Thank you so much for not putting “music” over this symphony. The sound of that machine being ran by this guy is truly music to my ears. This machine will run another 50 years with only oil changes if operators like this run it. No slamming, no clanking, no bogging, no abuse. It really is beautiful ground too. Not a rock in sight. Reminds me of Mariposa county above the Merced river.
I've never heard of a slope board I thought that was the way you do it. Lol Love cutting those truck roads through steep ground. Great running dozer with a very good operator!
This doesn’t look like a job for a slope board to maybe after the road was cut across the face of the slope, he could use one to trim the bank but in this instance I think it would be cumbersome. Having said that , I have trimmed a lot of slopes with a D-8H but never run a slope board so could be mistaken
We called slope boards batter boards in Australia. Country Roads Board had lots of D7Es and many good operators who using an angle blade could cut a very nice batter face in rock in road cuttings which was usually 1:1 and too hard for a grader. It was quite a skill. Those sort of professional dozer operators don’t exist today.
You can’t afford a man that doesn’t have finesse, especially when you start buying parts. I’ve thrown guys off a piece of equipment, I’m not delaying a project because some Ahole wants to abuse my shit.
Very nice to see one of the greatest Bulldozers Cat has ever made still working hard and sounds awesome like a 46A should! Especially in Communist California; this is a rare sight with all the emissions laws. Great to see! And a very great operator; very efficient and so easy on that great machine! Nice job.... keep it up.

I'm amazed at the lack of rock in this 'dozer's path. Then again I am used to see a lot of rock in the soil that I have seen moved around where I live. I been running dozers for 25 years plus and I had to look up what a slope board was😂😂😂 I have cut in a bunch of road just like this and this is how I’ve always done it as well, I would sure like to see a slope board used to see the advantages!!!👍 nice old dozer
That dirt looks like a dream to make roads with. The winch is for beginners incase they tip it to far or logging. I'm guessing but you can set high lead logging with that winch set up or even cable block logs out if steep terrain with that one.
I was young on a mountain side with d5 in a hurry pushing a path and got on top of a tree. I slid about 30 feet and was too afraid to bring it off the mountain. Sat there for a week while I worked my nerves up
what a dandy !!! what kinda computer does it have controlling the engine ? oh a metal throttle rod connected to a boot on the operators leg huh , seems to work well !!! tell me again why we need GODDAM computers running our machine s WTF !!!!!!
@@dozer1642 That looks like a D7, blade is too small for a D8. I have a D7E 48A and that machine looks almost identical to mine. I also have a D8 and it is much bigger.

Amen to all of the above, not the least of which that beautiful dirt.
There’s definitely ways to use machines and the land in the right way. 👍🇺🇸
Check out trespassingintothewild. He has got a great channel about dozers

It’s great to see and hear old iron doing what it was built for. Along with an experienced operator fantastic work is being done.

smooth and steady wins every time , that’s why that old dozer running so good , the man running it respects his equipment

Not a wasted movement; joy to watch and agree on no music, that deisel engine is music to my ears.
I see the "Quality Control Officer" in the cab!!! Nice work!!!
Truly a road construction artist. Makes it look so easy. Not his first day on the job.

IT was pleasure to watch this seasoned operator building that road!
Man, that ole Cat sounds sweet! Love to see the dirt rolling off that blade as she does her job with authority.
Smmoth operator, easy on the machine but not wasting movement. Good to watch. It takes me back to the two D8H's my father had.
Awesome. Love that old iron and the little passenger on board. Never seen a dozer dog before 👍👍
I spent a bit of time logging and it is just a pleasure watching than man work with a very nice older Cat.
This guy doesn't just operate that D8, he wears it like a glove!

My thought's exactly
Looks like a D7. He knows exactly what he is doing. I have that same tractor, D7E

Skilled operator for sure, the way he cuts the bank and makes more dirt is a thing of beauty
46a great machines had 32 of them at one time used to push 631Bs and 21s great video sir .
It's good to see a real dozer operator!, you dont see that anymore!.
That guy is amazing with the bulldozer and also it’s surprising to see the dog feel comfortable riding on that machine
Pioneering at its Best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bustn through!!
One of the first videos I've seen in a while without track slap
Purrrrfectly tuned.
Can't beat that sound.
Good operator, good dog!
The man is an artist.
Love his friend riding with him!!
Best of all!! no rock music drowning out the engine. Great to see a bulldozer with a winch on it.
I wish more would take the hint, the free public music often used is just "NOISE".
Better than any Radio

That is a very skilled operator. It's rare to see dirt being moved and the machine not being hammered on.
Doesn’t appear to be a wobble or speed bump anywhere nice to see
God I love that throaty roar of an 8H. I’ve now got ringing ears with tinnitus to prove it.
That looks like a well maintained Cat. Smooth operator too.

Yep. Just cutting in a road. Also had to look up slope board.
I'am a grader operator. What is a slope bord? Have no clue
Serene forest and a beautiful machine.
That's a beautiful dozer. It deserves some new paint and decals at some point.
It deserves a new undercarriage and a valve job when it's time it's a machine doesn't need paint. Let's ya know where she's been too ya know
Paint and decals are high on the priority list! She need a little help in a few places but she’s a genuine sweetheart for sure!
Ever someone knows how to spool a winch. our it's never been used, rare to see on the Tube, excellent operator!
Don't you just hook it to tree or or something heavy and whinch it in?

That's a cool technique digging a corner and widening and getting more dirt on the steep corner front digging the blade tip up high side .
