You say Moorcock's focus wasn't world building, on Elric's world the world literally hasn't been fully built as it is still being created out of raw chaos beyond the keep.

In the time of Count Aubec yes, but by Elric's time, the world of the Young Kingdoms is fully formed. But apart from a few places like Pan Tang, the rest of the world are just names on a map with little to no description.

@@Brainstorm-Lore True but I really dont need more, Pan Tang didnt need much description than what Ive read so far. It gives me enough of an idea of what it is and how it was a sleeping threat to Melnibone, matching it on sorcery with its decline and chaos's decline as well.

The Corum books are now put together in 2 books published by Gollancz, both containing a trilogy. The first is called Corum: Prince in the Scarlet Robe, and the second one is called Corum: Prince with the silver hand

I'd say I like the 1st trilogy more, but the 2nd trilogy is more in keeping with Moorcock's style. As for Elric, I'd say he's better.

At Joffrey's wedding, one of the guests shouts out "Stormbringer!" as a suggestion for what the young king should name his sword.
The magic sword "Blackrazor" from the old Dungeons & Dragons adventure Module S2 'White Plume Mountain' is also a clear nod to Elric's Stormbringer.
Also, Michael Moorcock credits fellow author Poul Anderson as an inspiration at the beginning of 'Elric of Melniboné' (1972). Poul Anderson wrote 'Three Hearts and Three Lions' (1953) wherein a champion of law meets a cruel elfin race known as The Pharisees.
In the D&D adventure Module Q1, 'Queen of the Demonweb Pits', there's a magic portal that leads to Caer Sidi, the realm of the Pharisees, which is Gary Gygax's nod to the fact that his Drow Elves also inspired by the same books.
This list goes on and on; but 'The Witcher', 'Warhammer/40k' and 'Nemesis the Warlock' all surely wouldn't exist without Moorcock's work

Michael Moorcock's work is in the "Appendix N" list, which is where Gygax got his inspiration for D&D. He only mentions Hawkmoon and Elric but I'm pretty sure he took a look at Corum too.

Elder races, wisdom of a thousand years, yet in their age, they grow ignorant of the world around them until, inevitably, it crashes into them, waves of a raging sea against once sturdy boat.

I don't know except that most of the art is from a comic adaptation of Knight of the Swords where Mike Mignola did the art.

I'd say the comics are straight adaptations of the text. At least of the first 3 books. Haven't gotten around the other 3 so I can't say anything for certain. They're by the same people so I can only assume.

Hello, I have not read a single moorcock book, I was thinking about reading Elric, but I love Celtic myth and was fascinated more by the concept of Corum. Can I read this series without the others stuff? I know that sailor on the seas of fate is a story that you see from different povs of his characters.

I always saw Corum as being a very noble and gracious character !
Without a bad bone in his body , perhaps that's why most people prefer Elric , because the sword often dictates his actions , and can do some very bad stuff , sort of an anti hero , but Corum as much as I remember , is totally a force for good !
      Nothing wrong with that !

The Corum books are excellent, as good as the Elric stories - with the exception of Stormbringer, which is the best of the all the Eternal Champions novels imo. The Corum novels are really continuing narratives, which progress from one book to the next, whereas the original 60s and 70s Elric stories are more standalone, although with a general theme which gathers pace towards the final end.
The two Corum trilogies are very different from each other, which is a major strength. The first trilogy is very much a Law vs Chaos series and full of plane-hopping and fantastical worlds and bizarre creatures. They are quite excellent. The second series is set almost entirely in one world, which is actually the same as that of the main setting of the earlier books, but so far into the future that it's barely recognizable. So it's less frenetic, but more cohesive. The tone of the first series is epic, the second more understated and doom-laden, which matches the changes to the main character's persona. As for Corum, he's a more straightforward hero than Elric, who is a morally dubious character by comparison. This doesn't mean that he's dull though - he has the same philosophical tendencies as Elric, but is certainly more easily identifiable with.
      I heartily recommend both trilogies.
