I have to agree with how phenomenal a little priest is but my personal favourite act 1 finale is so much better. The way how it is Elle’s first solo number in the show and is the moment of realisation that she is more than some pretty blonde. It’s a great wholesome number where we see Elle triumph and the first realisation she isn’t there at Harvard any more for love and instead there to make a difference.
Unpopular opinions I was disappointed when Romeo appeared in &Juliet Defying gravity is iconic but overplayed and over rated Little priest especially sung by Patti Lupone is my all time favourite Sondheim song 🤩glad it did well (wrote this before the video finished 😅)
You Will Be Found is a great act one closing and a powerful song. I think it's one of the few shows I've felt seen end connected to so much. I wish people would stop over maligning this show. It's basically being made to be en outsider just like Evan is because it talks about a lot of things that people don't want to acknowledge especially after COVID.
I also don't understand the backlash this musical is suddenly getting after covid although I think it has something to do with the movie version which really did the show more disservice than actually helping it gain more audience via a different media, because with all due respect to Ben Platt who might've been a perfect original Evan, he can't play him for forever, let alone against a Zoe actress who does look like an actual teenager. And I also think that a lot of people who keep maligning the show for it's story are just not paying attention to it.
