Always a good day when Aaron Cybertron Zheng is back with an episode of Road to Ranked where he climbs the online Regulation H VGC ladder in Scarlet and Violet and provides live commentary as he goes.
I genuinely thank you whole heartedly for uploading this video hours before my College exam. I usually binge watch your videos while eating, since they are super interesting to watch (yes i can’t eat without youtube), but this time around i’ve been very anxious due to my exam. This video kind of helped me ease-up some of my anxiety. Keep up the good work gamer, love your videos and the commentary on them.
@@xXPoopWorldXx LESSS GOOO (congrats as well gamer), hope you did well on yours too man, especially since exams tend to be super stressful. I pretty much studied for like 2-3 weeks before taking these two bad boys.
I was PRAYING that you'd use this team! Been seeing other tubers use it and wanting to see your take on it. Hope you're having a good day! VGC Reflections is going great!
Perfect timing again sir. Once again just about to start working. Also hilarious I just watched moxie use yanma, so really excited to see how 2 different players use the same team
I barely never comment but just want you to say that I have been following you since 2015 ( when I started playing VGC), and besides some seasons/regulations, you have been one of my confort content creator ❤ Thanks for all your work though all these years and for lots more! 🎉 Love from Spain! 😊
Yoo! Can't wait to see you showcase your lil bro's winning regionals team soon! Gratz to him! He did great!👍🏾 Following in big bro's footstep! Ik you're proud of him for his first regional title!
@CybertronVGC My apologies, Aaron! I got confused, I'm kinda new to VGC & heard you had a lil brother that was into VGC as well & jus thought that was him. I feel so slow. I used Google this time. 😂 BRENDAN is actually your lil brother, correct?
@Allschmoi "Chill."? I'm all good. Why would you think I'm not? Also, why are you even jumpin in this convo anyway? 🤨 Not that I need to explain myself to you, but I was jus making sure Aaron knew why I was initially confused is all. Jus clearing up my mistake, simple as that.
Personally i love Venonaunt more as a compound user. Only issue is that it’s best under trickroom and powder moves are blocked by grass types and googles.

Does the length of the video correlate to how much you liked the team or is something else? Also thx for posting more often, I would like you to show all the teams with the most underrated Pokémon and unexpected strategies that are being used in this format right now c: Lastly I wanna say that I always found interesting the fact you bring your Switch with you with the most unexpected places that you go, is very impressive, that you can bring all your video equipment whatever is the place, and record a great video in there, most people wouldn't bother recording while traveling which I assume it's the case, mostly of them prob would record before or only upon returning of the trip
Nah, sometimes I just end up recording more games without realizing haha, no real correlation between length + the team. Thanks for the words and for watching!
1:05:59 Am I missing something or does that Magmar not have Vital Spirit. Doesn’t Hypnosis have no effect on Pokemon with that ability? Curious as to how it landed.
Definitely had Flame Body. I prefer anti-sleep but it's not too crazy to hope Magmar redirects a physical attack, procs a 30% chance to burn, and changes the outcome of a game. Like if your team planned to Electric Terrain. Vital Spirit's guaranteed anti-sleep is consistent in a format with sleep users, especially on a redirection user.
Keep up the great videos Aaron! I was wondering if anytime in the future you could feature a hisuian zoroak set, I was thinking just building around choice specs but honestly haven’t tried it yet i’ve been having lots of success with a full trick room porygon 2 arch team, anyway great vid!
would love to know the purpose of 108 speed on dnite, as the fastest thing in the format is 214 with jolly pult, is there something else under opposing tailwind/scarf that you're outspeeding?
Yeah I didn’t think there was too much else to do, switch into Garchomp is the other option since Vital Sprit is so common but figured if they weren’t I’d just win with Hypnosis
Question (anyone can answer): In game 6, Aaron chose hypnosis on Magmar. This confused me, because when I see Magmar I usually assume it has vital spirit. What’s the thought process on this? No better move to choose? Checking for flame body/switch?
Redirection on a physical attacker usually means a 30% chance to burn. I slightly prefer flame body magmar with grass tera to ignore amoongus. But vital spirit is also very very good.
and i thought im weird due using hisui zoroark/lucario team and azumarill team. yanma seems veryfun to play with. Makes me really want succeed on umbreon team im working on
True but sleep is good enough that Sleep Powder sees use even when Spore users are banned or restricted. And that many smogon formats introduced a sleep clause in-house rule. Worth mentioning. I hate using physical attack Fairy pokemon or coverage because Play Rough is 90% accurate lol.
It’s crazy how everyone is suddenly using Clefable in tbis regulation. Previously Clefable had virtually no usage in VGC, with pretty much everyone saying Clefairy was better. Did Dondozo singlehandedly cause this?
I think part of it is due to the amount of setup in the format as well, there are a lot of swords dance king gambits and bulk up annihilape running around as well as blaziken and sneazler running coaching as a defense boosting option
But you know that you can't Prankster+Tailwind then pop off for free in front of a sashed sleep user right? Yanma is a Tailwind setter and a sashed sleep user on this team. Especially when all of its partners are bulky. In my opinion stuff like this is why balanced teams are hard to pilot compared to set and go strats like DonzoTatsu, IndeedeeRouge, LiliKoal, LunaCress, etc. I think it's part of the reason people report less success using these kinds of teams compared to top players. Like Aaron is very good at piloting it, I am likely not lol. Prankster also forfeits your ability to use offensive support, like e.g. Screech support, on enemy Dark types. Whimsicott hits most of those with Moonblast, which is part of the reason Kingambit and Incineroar are strong Dark types, they're neutral to Fairy. And part of the reason Cott is a strong Prankster user. Tornadus and friends were for a while in gen 8 or 9: the fastest Prankster users, fastest Taunt users with Prankster, and the fastest Tailwind users with Prankster. Their speed was A tier without Prankster. And their offenses are strong without investment so they can just click an attack against something immune to Prankster boosted offensive support. So. Murkrow still saw lots of play alongside those legendary Pokemon with legendary base stats, the same support move pool, ability, and better offensive options, because it can Prankster+Tailwind and prevent faster Taunts. If all that fails, Murkrow can Prankster+Quash to almost completely ignore opposing speed control. I guess all that was to say that imo Prankster+Tailwind next to a strong offensive threat is a set and go strat. The strongest teams are usually a mix of the best set and go strats available, but they're not required. So while Prankster+Tailwind is almost always better than an unboosted Tailwind, I don't think it's true that any Tailwind setter without Prankster is inferior to other Tailwind setters. It really depends on their other tools in context. Like how Yanma is a fast sleep user and debuffer. Jumpluff, Smeargle, and Vivillon are also fast sashed sleep users without Prankster, that often also set up Tailwind, and have seen play.
Nah, Extreme Speed + Tera Ground LO EQ should just KO Kingdra before it gets to move. Also Blizzard Kingdra is not going to KO Dragonite even if they were to somehow get it off: 252+ SpA Kingdra Blizzard vs. 196 HP / 28 SpD Assault Vest Dragonite: 108-128 (56.5 - 67%) -- guaranteed 2HKO. Even with a Choice Specs Dragonite survives almost all the time: 252+ SpA Choice Specs Kingdra Blizzard vs. 196 HP / 28 SpD Assault Vest Dragonite: 160-192 (83.7 - 100.5%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
