You could keep the telephone, as I do but have a modern touch tone for for ever day use but the old phone is ringing in. You can still dial loved ones as well.comprimise and have the modern and the old running at the same time, that's what my friends do

Dear Teresa, thank you once again for a lovely vignette. I appreciate the issue with responding to # requests etc. and that alone may rule these phones out. I have a couple of queries though. 1. If you enjoy the tactile nature of dialing, then what's the problem with long numbers; what's the rush? Enjoy it to the full. 2. With concern for our depletion of resources. Isn't it lovely that these 40 year-old devices are (mostly) still useable! A fair environmental investment, no? 3. Perhaps most importantly. What's wrong with sitting in one place paying full attention to your friend whilst talking on the phone (okay maybe not cold callers - but bless 'em)? How about this! Keep one of the vintage phones, and save it for conversations with dear ones. Is that a good compromise? You are a Honey, keep up the good work.
The novelty simply wears off Anton ... these phones end up doing your head in, in this modern world we live in - believe me! I just can't sit in one place just talking... I have to make a cuppa at the same time... I'm a woman, we like to multi-task 😁...Too late... sold them both ... at a huge loss I have to say! Oh well! For rotary telephone fans they are patience with the rotary dialler. I have 15 rotary telephones in my collection. Yes if you call huge organisation you have to use your mobile due to it does not have options.
The main advantage of any vintage phone would be that if you are talking to somebody annoying, you always have the option to hang up with a smack. That's tactile indeed. Please make a video where you get called by a telemarketer and brutally shut him off.
You can hang up on any phone. Have to say i'm not the kind of person to brutally shut down a telemarketer - so that video won't be happening. Fact is everyone has a job to do, they're only trying to make a living like the rest of us... so just politely say 'no thanks - no need to be rude - try making them smile instead.
