My mother passed away from cancer almost two years ago. As she was coming into her final days her concern was not for herself but for my father. My parents had resided in the same council house since the early sixties. Unlike many others they remained tenants. I struggle when I recall the fear my beautiful mother was experiencing at the end of her own life regarding where my father would live. Dad survived mums passing for just 14 months. Those 14 months despite my reassurance were spent worrying he would be moved into an old peoples home. I gave up life and moved in with him to offer support and protection. I too was fearful for my dad although I never told him this. I moved in to prevent my dad being moved out. The UK is vile.
It was a lovely thing you did, but I understand his worries actually. He could see what was going to happen. It makes me so mad that this is going on everywhere, but people are so unaware of the terrible treatment in their own country.

My entire neighbourhood, was compulsory purchased by local authority(over the last 20years) not for new arrivals but still. No derelict houses. A plan was submitted to residents that was not abided by, they just moved every one out. People who had worked hard all their lives to pay off mortgages for retirement, did not give people enough money to purchase new property, the perfect good terraced houses were demolished and land sold to private building company. Relatively speaking, life is very, very good here in Canada. Some people are always complaining, mind you, but overall this is a great place to live. Ask yourself: do I know anyone who has packed up and moved to Europe or South America or Asia? In fact the movement is only in this direction. I’m a British white male I’ve been homeless 3 times. 1st time I was 16 years old. 2nd time I was 29 years old 3rd time I was 42 I’m now 52 and I’ve been on the list for affordable housing since I was 16. And never not once have I got anywhere near it. I have no pension because basically I need every penny I earn to survive with extortionate rent and bills I live pay day to pay day. So basically when I physically can’t work anymore I’m homeless again. Why is everything so twisted against me ???? Or that’s how it feels anyway. 🤷🏻♂️
The was a case around 15 years ago in Connecticut USA where a city expropriated an entire neighbourhood to allow the construction of a commercial development, and it was justified because they claimed the housing were dangerous. It turns out the local council were deeply corrupt and were paid off by the developers.
Imo the only reason the council said it 'was a mistake' is because it became public. They've been forced to retract but mark my words this will happen, they will find a way round it. You will own nothing.

My mother passed away from cancer almost two years ago. As she was coming into her final days her concern was not for herself but for my father. My parents had resided in the same council house since the early sixties. Unlike many others they remained tenants. I struggle when I recall the fear my beautiful mother was experiencing at the end of her own life regarding where my father would live. Dad survived mums passing for just 14 months. Those 14 months despite my reassurance were spent worrying he would be moved into an old peoples home. I gave up life and moved in with him to offer support and protection. I too was fearful for my dad although I never told him this. I moved in to prevent my dad being moved out. The UK is vile.
It was a lovely thing you did, but I understand his worries actually. He could see what was going to happen. It makes me so mad that this is going on everywhere, but people are so unaware of the terrible treatment in their own country.
My parents left England in 1956 (to Australia) and never went back. Raised 3 kids. My Dad told me at the dinner table in 1968 (when I was 10) that the home he knew was now on the path to ruin. Remember Enoch Powell (ROB speech)

A plan was submitted to residents that was not abided by, they just moved every one out. I'm aware of this, I lived in Maidstone Kent I ended up selling my house , due to these people were moved into 2 houses each side of my house, I could not enjoy my garden as they cooked and drank alcohol heavily until 1am 2am, burning fires the smells were awful, screaming and shouting from late in the night, I'm heart broken I'm retired in my 70s and moved because I didn't want to spend the rest of my days with them, land of hope and glory but not for the likes of us brits so very sad

Relatively speaking, life is very, very good here in Canada. Some people are always complaining, mind you, but overall this is a great place to live. Ask yourself: do I know anyone who has packed up and moved to Europe or South America or Asia? In fact the movement is only in this direction. Canadians as a whole are quite satisfied with their lives.

I’m a British white male I’ve been homeless 3 times. 1st time I was 16 years old. 2nd time I was 29 years old 3rd time I was 42 I’m now 52 and I’ve been on the list for affordable housing since I was 16. And never not once have I got anywhere near it. I have no pension because basically I need every penny I earn to survive with extortionate rent and bills I live pay day to pay day. The was a case around 15 years ago in Connecticut USA where a city expropriated an entire neighbourhood to allow the construction of a commercial development, and it was justified because they claimed the housing were dangerous. It turns out the local council were deeply corrupt and were paid off by the developers.
Imo the only reason the council said it 'was a mistake' is because it became public. They've been forced to retract but mark my words this will happen, they will find a way round it. You will own nothing.

Katie, I realized something was up during the 2015 census. He census questions were very intrusive. How many people live there, how many bedrooms do you have, what religion are you? I could see there was an underlying reason. In the US, it’s beginning. I have a spare bedroom. I do not want strangers being placed in my house!! It’s a land grab no matter how I look at it.

In 2015 we had a CPO posted to our home, we were part of the‘regeneration’ the the council was doing to the area we were living in. They started to offer us £87000 for a house that was worth £110000 at least. We have millions of our own who can’t get any type of property to live in.
