WE ARE NOT WINNING. WE ARE LOSING VERY, VERY BADLY.
This is not ww2 mate, the enemy has allready landed, is among us and has infiltrated our government, broadcasting and education system and is now beating us badly with the stick of socialism and ignorance. the socialists have been doing this for a century and the right has only just started this in the last 5 years.
Even we who sit here and rail against it have been changed.
      We've all supported
Sat there while governments in the last 3 decades that have stripped privacy from us and now the power to act as free individuals.
We are the resistance, they are in power.

    • @tomasstride9590

@@tommothedog They are indeed winning. In fact it is nearly a rout. Even when I hear words of defiance I draw little comfort as if you listen carefully what they are really saying is 'I can not believe this is happening'. But it is happening - and at a tremendous pace. You are right to say that we have been changed. Even those who try to oppose often underneath accept all the core values of those they seek to defeat. So you get people like the man from Cambridge who although well meaning is also incredibly wet. I don't mean to be critical of him or his like as they are trying to do good. Perhaps I can best summarize by saying he is far too civilized when the reality is that we are on the loosing side of a savage struggle.

Everyone is a keen on a narrative that most suits them and irrespective of Truth. People often discount The Immigrant advantage. To be an immigrant how advantaged are you to be in this society as opposed to where you came from? A little gratitude goes a long way, a lot of entitlement, not so much. And if this new Society you find yourself in is too oppressive and racist for you you, have an affirmative duty to yourself, to find in this Society which is more in keeping with your values.

This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall

Fear’d by their breed and famous by their birth,
Renowned for their deeds as far from home,
For Christian service and true chivalry,
As is the sepulchre in stubborn Jewry,
Of the world’s ransom, blessed Mary’s son,
This land of such dear souls, this dear dear land,
Dear for her reputation through the world,
Is now leased out, I die pronouncing it!
Like to a tenement or pelting farm:
England, bound in with the triumphant sea,
Whose rocky shore beats back the envious siege
Of watery Neptune, is now bound in with shame,
With inky blots and rotten parchment bonds:
That England, that was wont to conquer others,
HATH MADE A SHAMEFUL CONQUEST OF ITSELF.
AH, WOULD THE SCANDAL VANISH WITH MY LIFE,
HOW HAPPY THEN WERE MY ENSUING DEATH!”

It seems to be a part of English culture that we're polite and modest, think it impolite to brag about our achievements lest it make others feel inadequate, hence our self-deprecating manner. This has been used against us by our adversaries, accusing us of being vile and abusing our sense of fair play. The constant stream of anti-Englishness coming from the usual suspects has made me more patriotic then ever before in my 69 years. I won't stand for it anymore and will always speak out defiantly to defend England - no more Mr nice guy for me - no more being politely apologetic - screw that.

Why on earth would it not be OK to celebrate England? Tell me one other country in the world where celebrating that country would be called into question. Nobody is saying it should be mandatory and if you really don't want to celebrate being from England then you're perfectly free not to do that. After all, England is not North Korea or any other totalitarian state where the government brutally punishes dissenters. But for goodness' sake - it is (and should always be) absolutely fine to be happy about being English. So Happy St George's Day to all!

Constantly told how much green space we still have but i remember 20 years ago when i started work at our university seeing sheep outside the window. I sound like a dinosaur to the young ones but 20 years has gone by in the bllink of an eye just as the farmland has just as rapidly disappeared. Now all i see when i look out of the same window and further afield is more and more student accommodation. When most of the farmland has gone and we rely more and more on imports from overseas maybe people will realise the value of us growing our own food

Regarding the slavery, the reason why Britain, and to a less extent America, takes all the blame is because we are the top nations and some people want to take us down. There's no gain in taking down Africa for the Barbary Coast slave trade.

His book is brilliant (and the audio book is excellent) but by no means a cheerleading narrative. What he does do (as a specialist in French history usually) is provide context of what other parts of the world were doing at the time. We come out well even in our less proud moments by comparison. In fact, I didn’t know it was supposedly ‘patriotic’ (just got lucky!) when I bought it. So refreshing though to have a historian not filled with fashionable self hatred.

Of course it is logical to be proud of who you are. I am half English on my father's side and Scots on my mother's side. This makes me British. I got upset when I was referred to as American when I lived in India. I know the yanks supported the Indians for independence but a lot of Brits did too. However culturally we have been nearer than the yanks!!! Britain has a long history too.

I felt I owed the UK something. That is why I went to war for the country. Now I feel the politicians owe me a lot more and are never coming close to even mentioning it.
I feel utter abandoned by all politicians from any party. They are failing us at ever opportunity and laughing about. The leader of the Labour party is a prime example of this. After refusing to even talk about his inability to hold JOHNSON accountable for the damage he has done to this country and everyone in it.

    He is an Englishman!
For he himself has said it,
And it's greatly to his credit,
    That he is an Englishman!
    That he is an Englishman!
For he might have been a Roosian,
A French, or Turk, or Proosian,
    Or perhaps Itali-an!
But in spite of all temptations
    To belong to other nations,
    He remains an Englishman!
    He remains an Englishman!
For in spite of all temptations
    To belong to other nations,
    He remains an Englishman!
    He remains an Englishman!
