Yep.....Pike are the scourge of the Madison Chain of Lakes angler 🙂. Not the worst problem to have on a body of water, I suppose. If you enjoy catching them, you're likely to do quite well.
@@TUFFBASS Oddly enough, the 3 largest (or at least longest) Pike I've caught in Madison were while fishing Channel Cats on cut baits on Lake Mendota. Largest was 41.5", and all three were over 40. But they were all REALLY skinny. Obviously not very healthy. Largest healthy pike was 37", caught on Waubesa.

I’ve lived down south my whole life & just moved to Madison 2 days ago for work. I have a kayak but it’s still down south for now. I plan on bringing it here this spring. I went fishing on the shores today with no luck. I was wondering if you had any tips or places I could try from the shore where I may have some luck before the water starts freezing over? Im 24 and a huge fisherman of literally any body of water I can access. Wisconsin fishing is a whole new ball game for me and I’d love to dm you some about it. Either way, keep up the good channel 💯
Hey dude! I appreciate the support! Welcome to the Madison area! It has recently gotten very rough fishing since it has gotten colder, and I have been struggling to catch fish. Come down to Sauk City and fish the dam, and the stretch of river here for smallies, muskie, and pike! I just started fishing the Madison chain of lakes a year ago and still have not figured it out. But this is what I know. Lake Monona = Largemouth, Muskie (BIG Muskie), pike and other fish. Lake Mendota = Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, channel cats. Lake Wingra, Largemouth & Muskie. Hey man not sure how far exactly from you but if you want to go to a small lake with really big pike Vincent lake in Polk county is great and very small so a kayak would be great for it
Please don’t use all those treble hooks. It just tears the fish apart. It’s unsporting and borderline cruel. Just use single hooks. Give them a sporting chance.
I realize this. I used to use them. I stopped because they were damaging the fishes eyes, heads, gills, etc. It’s too easy and causes too much damage. Just consider it when you’re removing a treble hook from a northerns eyeball.

Do you know if pike linger throughout Cherokee Marsh throughout the spring/summer as well? Was thinking about hitting it up.
I tried this spring without any luck, your best bet is to eait for all the vegetation and lily pads to come up, I caught the pike in September.

Dang dude! Yea I caught my biggest pike at Waubesa! And my buddy caught a skinny 40+ on Mendota!

We have monster pike on our lake in Indiana, to bad I ain’t waking up in morning and by the time I get up, it’s skiing time…and the lakes are rough

I will use the trebles, they increase your hookup ratio :)
