It is refreshing and unique to hear a Festive Overture that doesn't feel frantic. It's not easy for an entire ensemble to keep their adrenaline in check on a piece such as this. Bravo

Festive Overture is both well played and conducted. Outstanding piccolo! It takes a great musician to play this instrument with such virtuosity...and IN TUNE! Thanks for an outstanding rendition.

Bravo Shostakovich! And, thank you for using the bass drum part from the orchestral original rather than the band transcription by Hunsberger!

I sort of miss the days when the cornets, trumpets, and trombone came to the front for Semper Fidelis.

Wonder why the intonation of the band is so much better than the Ohio concert? Must be the acoustics of the space allowing the musicians to hear each other. The piccolo is much better balanced too. The definition of the mics isn't as good but the sound is more natural with great fundamental bass. The recording engineer is to be applauded. Feel sorry for the cornetists when he ran out of spit and couldn't hit the high note at the very end. But then better safe than sorry. Love the Wagner choice as it is a great piece for concert band. Like the Star Wars piece, too. Hurrah for the best band in the land.

Not that unusual to hear the upper brass in some of the world's leading symphony orchestras have similar problems !!!

@twit-sorry-NOT-@twiii1-why must you critique the performance of bands? IF you're so smart, knowledgeable about all things related to music from composition, to arranging, to embauchers, to staging, performance, even lighting & sound engineering,, why are you on a computer in your mother's basement instead of running the show? Just ENJOY, already!
