Thanks for the comparison review, very helpful! I think the PD400X is more "professional", therefore it has more custom settings&analogue EQ adjustment button. PD200X is targeting for more common people such as streamers, players and podcasters. Both of them are very good mic and budget friendly though.

using a compressor and noise suppressor in OBS gets rid of your keyboard completely. Well at least it does for me. I have a desk fan blowing on me too which it doesnt pick up at all. Only my voice

the fifine k688 does not even compete with the sound signature of the pd200x and pd400x. It sounds sooooo bad even with the XLR, having a "different" sound signature does not justify how bad the quality of it's sound
Hey! Thanks your reviews are always great! So I wanted to ask, which mic should I choose between PM421 and PD200X? My use case is for an interview-type remote podcast over Zoom, and my room isn't well soundproofed like yours. Background noise isn't too much from outside, except for a ceiling fan and A.C. Also, can I plug and play PD200X directly into my PC, just like PM421, without using an audio interface? The prices I'm getting in my region are really good - $50 bucks for PB and the same for PM mic as well. I'm aware that overall dynamic mics are better for podcasts than condenser mics, but please help me out!
Hi! Yes for your podcast I think the PD200X would be a solid choice if you are worried about noise in your room. That would probably be the easiest route, but also what helps with condenser mics, like the pm421, is if you are experiencing background noise or if you feel like your room is influencing the sound of your mic, you can always turn down your mic gain and get closer to your mic.
@@techwithtobias doesn't pb200x has gain to do the same? And you didn't answer the other question: that is the pb200x plug and play? In USB? Or do I need an audio interface or software? And at last after using both mics what would you recommend? And thanks for the quick reply!
@@mithileshnathany1812 Yes the PD200x has gain to do the same and also, yes the PD200x is plug and play with a USB cable. It's actually both usb and xlr so you can choose how you want to use it. Personally I like the sound of a condenser, so probably the PM421, but if I wanted something that wouldn't pick up as much background sounds, then I would choose the PD200x
@@techwithtobias @techwithtobias yes I checked sound quality on your videos but I don't know the PD200x sounds more buttery and smooth and that soft voice that makes it really good whereas the PM421 sounds more harsh to me but has that crispy punch to it for some reason but either way I think both are very good and the pricing of $50 is perfect for PD200x in here so I may get that one because if I get interface later on then I got my back with PD200x and I won't need to upgrade as well. Do you agree about the sound description about PD200X I said? Maybe it's because it's a dynamic mic.
Is that normal at 6:00? I want to buy 200x but at 100% gain its scaring me. Then both 400 and 200 at 100% gain were catching ambience and equipment, magnetic noise almost similar.
Yeah it's not really anything to worry about. Turning the gain up to 100% is super unusual and I just did it as a test to kind of give a feel for how the noise floor changes as the gain is turned up. With any mic I've ever tried, if you were to turn the gain up that loud it would definitely sound weird and the results may even vary depending on the audio interface or mixer you are using.

Yes, thanks for the review, Personally, from those voices, I do feel that PD400X is more solid and richer than the PD200. If for online Singing, PD400X would be a better choice, due to it richer and all-rounded voice quality. Nice Review. Definitely like the sound quality of the 400 better. I starting thinking about a new mic and have used a Maono PM422 since 2021 and it has been a solid mic. Lately I have started noticing a decline in sound quality even though I have been keeping settings pretty much the same. Also like the mics that one talks into the front instead of the side.
