Imitation is the ultimate form of flattery. Everyone who ever aspires to be a cantor or a great vocalist attempts this piece and none have yet improved on this. This is the ultimate demonstration of finely tuned control in every aspect of vocal performance. Pinchik had it all in perfect harmony, range, smoothness, direct control over his vocal cords to the most minute detail all coupled with a warm and deeply soulful expression. It does play a bit faster than it should but playing it at 0.75x speed is almost perfect.
There is nothing more perfect, stunning and touching rendition of Pinchic. His superb voice is a gift of God and so sweet and sheer magic. Never tired to listen over and over again. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Reminds me of my father 'zl', he loved pinchik. at certain points in the song,he hits a pitch that breaks through the Jewish soul that brings tears to my heart . RIP ,in GAN EDEN PA,my thoughts of you bring tears to my eyes!!!!
I was blessed as a child attending High Holiday services in Chicago where he was brought in as Hazan at the KINS congregation. I knew then how fortunate I was.
he is a wonderful hazan. such an open voice. i am thoroughly moved. now, here is a funny story about my mother and pinchik. my grandfather was the first jew in jerusalem to sell a variety of newspapers, postcards, and records of the great cantors. his store was in meah shearim, which was quite different back then. (my little mom wore pants and no one bothered her) one day when my mother was just a girl and was convering for her father who had an errand to do, a man walked in and asked if she had any records of pinchik. my mother asked why do you want a record of pinchik? you are pinchik! i love this story. i love that i heard a lot of hazanut when i was a child.
Being an opera addict and a singer myself I have listened to hundreds of marvellous tenor voices, but I do not think I ever heard such pitch perfection, beauty of emission, technical command, and contagious participation to the artistic subject. Praised be his memory. Thanks so much for posting, skorecki7, the net is indebted to you!
Pinchick, Leibel Glanz and Yehoshua Wieder are unique 'zoogers' in their playing on the cords of the human heart - "al meitarei halev". Thanks skorecki for posting and aronmu for the words.
I don't know, people are calling sum cantors the king the queen the prince the princes etc. who gives a crap what title other cantors have gotten, this 1 right here is beyond all expectations, a master in talent and spirit... May he rest in peace...

One of the first cantorial songs I ever heard. If your soul does not tremble here you have none…

A true classic. Many have tried to imitate, but few successfully.
Absolutely incredible, just cannot stop listening to this piece....

Thanks a lot for sharing.
Speechless, totally speechless
Even though l am not Jewish, these beautiful verses, makes God so much closer at my heart/mind space. Thank you
I listen and cry and remember my father z;l who as a RABBI, cHAZAN SANG IN THIS MODE, he passed away at 51 yrs old.
Very sorry ❤
Reminds me of my father 'zl', he loved pinchik. at certain points in the song,he hits a pitch that breaks through the Jewish soul that brings tears to my heart . RIP ,in GAN EDEN PA,my thoughts of you bring tears to my eyes!!!!
Thanks man, your words touch
All those centuries of suffering by our people is embodied in this beautiful rendition. But the end will be good.
I was blessed as a child attending High Holiday services in Chicago where he was brought in as Hazan at the KINS congregation. I knew then how fortunate I was.
Wow that is incredible. Must have made an everlasting impression. I can put this piece on auto play
He was also one of special chazans of the time, because besides his spectacular voice he did not ride on shabbos like so many other chazanim did.
he is a wonderful hazan. such an open voice. i am thoroughly moved. now, here is a funny story about my mother and pinchik. my grandfather was the first jew in jerusalem to sell a variety of newspapers, postcards, and records of the great cantors. his store was in meah shearim, which was quite different back then. Very cute on both ends.

I feel blessed to hear this heavenly Chazzanut.

Pure sublime, Baruch Hashem
very warm & intoxicating voice--does not overpower the song.my parent's A"H--favorite.

I’m sorry I never heard him in person
Shift from above
I'm happy to see people are at least interested in chazzonus.
I don't know, people are calling sum cantors the king the queen the prince the princes etc. who gives a crap what title other cantors have gotten, this 1 right here is beyond all expectations, a master in talent and spirit... May he rest in peace...

I have been to hear Chazonot all over the world but I have never heard even one Chazzan to come close to this.

wow shabos hes a good test with this song relaxing
that's what I always thought ... but music is subjectiviy ... i do love roitman, chagy, kwartin, others ... but pinchik is my favourite hazan ...
חזן מרגש
Amazing, one of a kind along with Moche kussevitsky
And Hershman
VERY MOVING
@relaischat That expresses for me what I love about Pinchick.
Wow.
Thank you!
@bluechazzan Something else about hartz and neshumah. Notice that hartz comes from German. Neshumah from Biblical Hebrew. Mostly: words in Yiddish from Hebrew like neshumah, rakhmunes (compassion), tzadik (righteous person) are words for things with deeper, spiritual meaning. Words for the mundane: bread/broyt, water/vahser, meat/fliesh, table/tish are all from Middle German.
Can someone post the words of this song , thank you
People don't live long during the war. Enjoy while you can.
@bluechazzan Thank u for informed comments about chazanuet. I am sorry I have grown obsessed with faulty Yenglish. "Hartz" means heart. "Neshumah" means soul. To sing with hartz is to sing feelingly. Neshumah is on a more elevated spiritual plane. A bei gezind.
Is it just me or is this faster than it's supposed to be? It's sounds in fast motion
no, it is not just you, I switched it to a slower speed and it sounded better. i guess the playback speed from a probrably shellac recording of a LP , I don't know but the speed is way off.
It isn't possible to describe what he is doing purely in the language of singing.
inexplicable in places, yes
Sufice it to say that there were many great cantors throughout history - unfortunately not really the case today - and they all had unique contributions and personalities (certainly not the case today). Personally - my mood will determine who I listen to. But how could anyone go out on a limb to say that YR was the best ever or MK? They were both great and different and their differences are what made them great.
Nobody sings lite like him.
Allow me to interject. I don't think you can ever measure the best in really any field. YR was certainly a commercial success (legitimately so). He has the combination of a great volce, fabulous coloratura, sophisticated musical sense which he channeled to sing both elegantly and with "hartz" (soul). That said, Ganchoff once said that he heard YR sing the long Av Harachamim and it did nothing for him. Upon hearing DR sing it - MG broke out in a cold sweat.
One of the great contemporary chazzanim doubted Rosenblatt to be the best chazzan of all times. He said he may have earned that reputation because he was the first to be recorded and become popular that way. The best? There's room for disagreement.
beg yr pardon, but there is no Greatest Cantor Ever. Pierre was a splendid musician, who studied composition at a very young age. The miracle is, that he, who had all means to be a famous musician or composer in the secular world, choose to remain a jewish hazzan. In one of the most anti-semitic regions ever.
he is one of the few, who were able to transform the kabbalistic aspects of hassidism into liturgic music. from this point of view he is indeed a genius, a yichus.
israel bakon .
hey, i cannot find your other PP post....is it still up?
yes
ter Herinnering aan het overlijden van Carla Koopman Colman op 3 Juni 2020 helaas maar 70 jaar oud geworden .
he IS the greatest cantor ... open your ears ... singing even better than david roitman, berele chagy, mordechaï herschman ... just needs to be listened to, that's all ....

rosenblat was number 1
In YOUR opinion.
Will you all stop arguing and agree with me
הקלאסיקה במיטבה!
Greatest cantor ever? Seriously? The composition is beautiful and sung the world over until today but he certainly wasn't the greatest ever.
you should have more respect to him...
מה זההה?!
Pinchik is amazing but the king from all the Chazanim is Yosel Rosenblat
Deer Jerusalem this is Pinchos classic, and it’s among the best chazzanut in history, but also listen to Malavsky for a heavenly voice.
Auto corrected it should say “Pinchik”
Voice is beautiful. Picture flipping is juvenile & awkward.
dont speak hebrew i'm sorry ... but check the best pinchik song, which iposted a PINCHIK'S MASTERPIECE ... you'll all hear why he's the hazzan of all hazzans, the one and only masrter cantor ...
Wowow

Greatest? Greater than Rosenblatt, Kwartin? A bit of an exaggeration. This piece is certainly a masterpiece.
I agree does not come to yossle rosenblatt or other famous cantors kosevitsky but it's nice.
Every chazzan has a song that no one else have, and is famous for it,
