I first heard records of Rosenblatt in 1978, and was surprised by his beautiful voice. I allways return to hear him with joy. One of the great singers of all times. Incidentally, my family and myself are not jewish but Roman Catholic. Beauty has no frontiers.

I once heard that a gentile who heard him singing said I don't know him but I can hear in his singing that he never lied in his life

I have also been a long-time fan of opera, and have heard almost every recorded tenor voice. Opera fans like to debate whether Gigli or Bjorling or Di Stefano had the most beautiful tenor voice. However, in my opinion, the beauty of Rosenblatt's voice surpasses all 3 of those great tenors, as well as any other. If God gave any person the opportunity to choose whatever quality he wishes for his tenor voice, I don't think he could possibly have chosen a voice that was more pure, rich, sweet, ringing and gorgeous than that of Yossele Rosenblatt. And that beauty is consistent at every level of his remarkable range, from low baritone to high tenor.

In New York there once lived a famous blind cantor. A man brought his young son to sing before the cantor. After the boy had sung, the father asked "Nu, vi gefelt ir mayn zin zayn shtim?" So, how did you like my son's voice? The cantor replied. Ikh'll zug ir emess I'll tell you the truth. "Ikh bin zayt draytsig yur blint. I've been blind for thirty years un tsim ershten mul in mayn leyb hawb ihk gevolt az ikh bin geven toib ekhet!. And for the first time in my life I wished that I was deaf too."
