P.S. I know I skipped over "Ordinate Dimensions." I'm saving that for its own video because it causes A LOT of confusion with F360 users ;) P.S.S. Hi, Dan. Sorry, I forgot all about it. It must've slipped through the crack on my never-ending list of video topics. I'll try to cover it in one of the future videos. Cheers, Kevin :)
Hi Rud Dog, there are only two ways to enter the Drawing Workspace. Take a look at this intro to the Drawing Workspace video that I created - this will show you exactly what to do: ruclips.net/video/L0IwfH-9Fss/видео.html Cheers, Kevin :)
Kevin, Can you explain how to get the dimension lines to be bent instead of straight. Last I saw was that was a reported problem in 2017 yet all the instructional videos show the lines being bent. I am dimensioning a round lathe part with many diameters. All the dimension lines come out and straight and makes it look horrible. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, David. Unfortunately, Fusion 360 does not allow the dimensioning of Isometric drawings. There is kind of a "hack" to do it. You can dimension parts of the drawing in the model workspace and you can change the visual style to wireframe. Then, take a screenshot. However, this workaround would not allow you to dimension all sides without piecing the images together. I know that there was a lot of interest a while back on the forum for getting this ability to dimension Isometric views. However, it appears that they have not made this a priority to implement. Cheers, Kevin :)
great video. I'm trying to measure different vertical points along a smooth ark. The frustrating thing is because it is one smooth ark there are no marks that the dimension tool will snap to. Is it possible to add dimension marks? I'm new to fusion 360 so apologies if this is a basic question! Thanks, Tom
Hi, dudleybb. That's a great question! You'll have to use the sketch "Point" tool to create sketch points at all of the areas where you'd like to dimension. Simply activate the point tool and then click to place the points along the arc. They will snap into the arc as long as you have the "snap" tool turned on. Cheers, Kevin :)
I am attempting to place a center-to-center dimension between two squares. I am building a log cabin and I need to create a Top View foundation footprint drawing. I can then lay out on the ground where I need to drill a hole in the ground for a 6" x 6" square post. I don't see how I can snap to a center of a square. It is easy to snap to a circle from the top view.
Hi, Ryan. Great question. Fusion 360 only supports dimensioning 2D sketches. The 3-dimensions can only be specified within the commands used to make the sketch into a 3D object (extrude, loft, sweep, etc...). Cheers, Kevin :)
Could you please direct to me a tutorial on overall dimensions? I have irregular images where I just need to overall longest width and height to display on my drawing. Everything here seems to break it all into sections. Thank you!
Yes! How do you show an overall length? From the edge on the left to a point that is tangent to the vise handle on the right ..( the point a vertical chord would be tangent)
Hello Kennedy. I really like your videos and almost most stuff of fusion 360 I've learnt here. Please can you also make video of geometry panel application in drawing ?

Did you ever put out a video about Ordinate Dimensions? I need help with them.

@@ProductDesignOnline Jeeps, I am also waiting for Ordinate dimensions video...Causing me hard time lately :) Thanks in advance, Kevin !
you haven't done a video about the Ordinate Dimensions
Don't understand why someone would dislike this
How do you create a dimension on a sweep so if you did a 180 degree sweep go do you di mention the middle of that
Will have to go back cause I don't see the selection point for getting into Drawing View. I haven't been gone that long?

Well, there you go! I'm late to the party (as usual!), but now you're answering questions without me having to ask them!
Hi, Andy. Glad to hear that. As always, don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions that my videos don't answer. Cheers, Kevin :)
Ah, thanks. We're following along at our shop. Good work!
Thanks, Patrick! Glad you found the video to be helpful! Cheers, Kevin :)

Can you dimension and isometric or exploded view?

Hi Kevin, love the videos. Are dimensions only for sketches, or is there a way to put dimensions on 3d objects - say an extruded object from a sketch?
Hi, Ryan. Great question. Fusion 360 only supports dimensioning 2D sketches. The 3-dimensions can only be specified within the commands used to make the sketch into a 3D object (extrude, loft, sweep, etc...).

Why the dimension is in acurate when the drawing is set on home view?
Great stuff Kevin!!

Hi Aditya. I'm not sure what that is. Do you have a link to a reference photo?
