I think the brand cut corners on the packaging in order to keep the formula high without increasing the price drastically. Because the highlighter duos are not the same in regards to the construction.
I have been a fan since the 80s. I used to watch a show on Saturdays that featured runway shows. Dame PMG was often shown applying makeup to the models. I have been a fan ever since. When I learned about her makeup line, I could not help but give it a try. I am so glad I did. Her eyeshadow transformed my looks and opinion about eyeshadow. I collect her products but have slowed down considerably last year. I appreciate your videos featuring her work because they remind me to use her products. Her eyeshadow still tops my list of my favorites. Her concealer, under eye powder (yellow), blush (too many to name), bronzer (desert glow & bronze mahogany), lip gloss, and highlighter trio are staples for me. I’m not sure about the direction where her company is heading now, but I will always remain in awe of her talent.
All controversies and drama aside, I still adore her eye shadows and other products. I look forward to her releases, even when I am disappointed by a particular release. I also love watching content like yours, celebrating her amazing formulas. As much as I adore her Motherships, I also really like many of her limited editions (Bridgerton palettes, Bronze Bliss, Celestial Odyssey, etc.). And, I always appreciate your thorough reviews and incredible knowledge of make-up :)
Agreed-and like you I enjoyed a few of her limited releases. I failed to mention the mega holiday palettes, but those are fantastic. As well as her mini 6-pans. There’s something for everyone, and happy she played with different palette sizes.
Alicia Archer + PML = super fun video! I totally agree with your analysis of the PML brand. It is hands-down my fav regardless of the recent “slips and falls.” It doesn’t matter because of all the slam-dunk products she released in the past that still delivers years later! The only products I’m not a fan of are the foundation although it looks beautiful on the face, it has alcohol. Also, I have the eyeshadow primer, but I have oily hooded lids so it’s ok, but it quite emollient and it does not work well with her quints which have an emollient formula. I like the underrated Fenty eyeshadow primer which is super tacky and holds the PML eyeshadow on your lid all day! Great video as always!
Delicia 🙆🏽♀️✨ I agree, and still use several of her products that released years ago. Case in point-those highlighter duos 😮💨 Perhaps she’ll make another foundation?? And thank you for letting me know about the primer. I’ll have to check out fenty’s!
I also think since Divine Rose II slowly but surely Pat has been stepping away from the brand and this past year feels like she has completely left the reigns to somebody else. I feel grateful to have been around and participated in the excitement in the brand's glory days. Always a joy to watch you dive back into PML!! 💗💗💗
Wednesday is my 55th birthday and for the 3rd year in a row I will be using all my PM products because I always feel so pretty sparkly in still a beautiful soft way while still using color. I hope she comes out with new colors and products
"Pretty sparkly in still a beautiful soft way while still using color" encapsulates it perfectly. I've used Midnight Sun, Huetopian Dream, Sublime, and Subversive in the last week and I asked myself WHY I ever strayed from the Motherships. I just love her products so much. I'll most likely repurchase the foundation in the near future as well. Happy Birthday!
I was listening to this while I painted faces on miniatures (1.5" tall figurines) - applying foundations, blushes, highlights and brows on an area that's half the size of your pinky nail 😆
I have been hitting my Pat collection hard lately. I swore I would never buy Mothership 11, and I am a liar as usual. I LOVE that palette. I can't stay away from it. I just wish the red shade was a better formula.
Pat is an icon and as much as I dislike the current direction the brand has taken, the makeup is still solid quality. To this day I get so much joy from using each and every single product that I have. P.S. One of my luxetrance lipsticks had started to smell and I had to toss it yesterday 😭.
I'm still thrilled that I got so much of the earlier releases. I do love the foundation, under eye powder, eye liners, lip liners, lipsticks, glosses, bronzers and blushes. I think it's the eye shadows that give us fans the most hissy fits, longing for the astral shades in the missing in the later Motherships.
You give the best most thorough details on all the products you talk about. I appreciate all you put into your videos. This look is fire and I love Pat McGrath.
Thanks for this great video, beautiful look I’m going to replicate! PML is hands down my favourite makeup brand despite all the drama. I hope the brand will wake up and surprise us again
Ah I love a deep dive by Alicia 🥰. I wish Pat would release more blushes in the formula that Desert Orchid and Nude Venus come in. That formula (for me) is miles better than the matte blush formula.
I agree. Personally not a big fan of matte blushes right now (used to loooove 'm a couple of years ago). I like a bit of a glowy/ satiny finish. (Charlotte Tilbury blushes (4-pan palettes) are my great love right now.)

Pat McGrath Labs + you is like coming home. Together, you both got me through the Pandemic. Makeup often takes while to work out how to get the best out of it - at least for me. When PML packaging's right, it's literally divine. I use Champagne Gold (taupe-rose) Skin Fetish Sublime Highlighter Illuminator (the HEAVY one) everyday - but very lightly as a kind of blush-highlight, lower apple of the cheeks and blend buffing upwards. It took me sooooo long to find a way. Nothing looks good over or under it or it looks muddy. Replaces boozer/blush/highlighter all-in-one. It's gone from 'object d'art', only keeping because of the packaging, to now loving. Other must haves for me, the Motherships of course, the older 4-pans and the under-eye blur power. I'd like to try the foundation as they do a perfect skin-tone match and a blush (I liked one but it was ltd ed). Pat is my favourite MUA and this is a GREAT brand, but there are inconsistencies. My first 6-pan a bit disappointing etc. Not just because of the cardboard. I admit, I buy as much for the component packaging (for the non utility lines). Once you introduce a standard (Mothership) it's hard not to compare. Anyway, you and PM make my world a bit more beautiful, TY.
My son asks me to wear PMG shadows. He’s partial to them. With the changes in the brand, I still find that the brand provides quality makeup. I’m always impressed with the looks that I get using her products.
Alicia, I absolutely enjoy your editing! It keeps me so engaged - the cuts you do and the way you build a video make it fun to watch! Thank you for the work you put into it!
I missed this, dear Alicia, you talk, talk, talk and do makeup, and do it so perfect, it's still so amazing to see i just love to see this about Pat McGrath!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩I still love quite some things from the brand!!! I'm 53 now, much more sensitive eyes, had to stop the eyeshadows, but: love her bronzer in shade 2! And most used nude lipgloss is from Pat McGrath!!! Undereye powder, very refined! Blush: super good! And maybe i forget a few things, but these come to my mind right away!!! And miss Nocturnal Nirvana, covid time, was not going anywhere especially with my type of asthma, i smashed that entire quad on my face a few times, of course too much for my lighter skintone, but Pat made me feel with eyeshadows....well there are brands softer for eyes, they don't do the same, Alicia, but they are also beautiful! However, Pat McGrath made my no. 1 eyeshadow, i was addicted, trying to much special shades on my lighter skin, but could not care, loved it! Still miss it! Please always make Pat video's, Alicia, you ARE our Pat here!!!😘😘😘😘
I don’t own any of the mothership palettes coz I’m not an eyeshadow person. But every single powder product I own from pat is top tier and also my ride or die. All of them perform amazingly and gives a finish nothing else gives. Compared to luxury brands like Dior and Hourglass I feel Pat is priced right. Truly understand all the hype and love she gets. I have been eyeing her foundation and concealer for a while now. Love your video Alicia. Always know you are the person who talks all the aspects of the brand and product❤
Love love love from India ❤ Agree with your view of PMG totally how she somehow lost her way (pinks, golds, purples). It was because of your video I bought my first Mothership Nov 2023 during Black Friday sale which is the Subversive palette :)
PMG is Mother ! 😊 das it !!! As much as I’ve been frustrated & disappointed … she’s the Mother of makeup & the runway & both she & her brand are iconic ! I have most of her makeup but I wasn’t crazy about her foundation or concealer BUT thank you for your tips & tricks that I can now use to try & make those work better for me … hands down her HG products for me are her MS palettes (duh 😂) quads, highlighters, bronzers, blushes lip liners, lipsticks, lip gloss & her liquid lipsticks (sad to hear they’re not available 😢 those I love & for me not drying at all) also sunlit seduction is MS 11 not 12 yet … I also loved her chroma luxe pigments (yes easy to use with beautiful formulas & shades; I did get 2 of the new ones) & her liquid shadows (I got them all little by little during various sales) … am I as excited over her releases as before no … but yes I still have love for mother & her brand ❤❤❤ ps her lip liners are among my faves too 😊 & I’m glad I grabbed the entire collection of her liquid lipsticks during a sale 😅 I truly love those the most & again for me GOATED & non-drying on my lips 😉
You’re so well-rounded when speaking on these deep dive topics, which allows me to trust further in your makeup advice/recommendations!! I agree with you that PML is still a solid brand. 😊❤
I saw this video pop up and got so excited. I then saw the time and I wanted to delve in with you uninterrupted and waited to experience this video with my coffee this morning ( Sunday) and am so happy I did.! This started my day off with a big smile. Get rehash and delivery. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I absolutely adore PM as a creator and artist, but the brand has absolutely suffered without her as creative director. Pink is my favorite color, but I don’t need multiple pink leaning pallets. Her original eyeshadow formulas are groundbreaking; however, they can be, and have been, easily reproduced at a lower cost, whilst still maintaining product and performance integrity. I would really love to see her come back and be involved in her brand to expand upon those beautiful, groundbreaking products she was known for. 💛 Edit: got to the end 🙂 I think there are people who want her to “cook all the way”. Especially after the Maison Margiela show, which spotlighted just how amazing PM is. PM is visionary and her namesake brand just isn’t any longer.
I cant picture a world where PML isn’t my favorite brand. literally don’t care how many pink palettes come out when Mothership III Subversive exists. they could never make me hate Mother
This was so enjoyable!! And I only have the blushes….they are divine. I don’t want to get started on the motherships bc then I won’t stop. Like I have every single Natasha palette ever created except the really large ones that came out first. Anyway Alicia, can I ask you what type of mirror do you use bc you can tell right away (like immediately)what looks wrong with the first stipple, swipe, pounce etc. I need to get a new one. What do you recommend? Thank you for such in depth reviews, tutorials and hang out sessions. Love the humor too! Much love and thanks again❤️❤️❤️❤️
If I had to pick any eyeshadow brand to wear for the rest of my life, it would be Pat's large Motherships (and the quads in the black lacquer packaging). They're still the best and most versatile shadows in my opinion -- there's nothing like a Pat McGrath astral shade, and a look doesn't seem complete to me without one! On the other hand, I've learned that any of the less expensive eyeshadows in the cardboard are not worth it (since, in my experience, the shades can lack pigment and be patchy, and the shimmers are sometimes chunky).
You pulled it off sis! 👏🏾 For a min there I was like OMG that's a lot of different blushes, etc. what is that gonna look like. 😅 But you made it werk! 🤩
I gasp when I hear Pats name 😊. She has nailed the skin tones, especially for me. I LOVE the concealer the powder blush soooo classy oh and the compact undereye powder ❤. I have to buy highend foundation here in the UK drug store foundations are too pink. Im a very light brown girly I could of passed out when trying her products. I jumped for joy like it was xmas when delivered 😂😂😂❤
Pat needs a packaging refresh. Some like the motherships and the highlighter duos are very nice. But some are really not high end or luxury. The inside products are great but I really dislike the lipstick packaging with bows. And even her original lipstick bullets fall apart over time. Dior had that problem where all my highlighters, bronzers and gel blushes had the packaging fall apart. I stopped buying Dior and haven’t gone back but they do seem to have improved and seem more lux now.
Hi Alicia, HUETOPIAN DREAM is my first Mothership palette, and I like it , not love yet, because I only used it once & learning how to use it on my eyes, with more play with these eyeshadows I know I will love it, ( it has my respect, building to love), I very much enjoyed watching this video and appreciate all your honesty and knowledge on Pat McGrath Labs products. Love Katherine xoxo
You made me love Pat McGrath!!! I love Divine Rose X IX XI and V and the earthy one u love with the moss green … also have some quads quints blush bronzer highlighter trio everything is amazing especially the eyeshadow primer LOL don’t forget to get one 😉🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 I forgot to get the intensifies wand in the Sephora sale lol Thank you!!! Do some more mothership videos! I gotta do this look I just got IX recently haven’t even played with her yet
I'm exactly the same searching frantically to get a brush quickly before my liner sets! Why is it we never have everything to hand ahead of time? Love your videos Alicia - sending hugs from me in the UK - Helen xx
So far you are and me maybe the most we understand and cheers about the high quality of all the products from the stunning brand! I’m happy to see your video. I did all my studies on Advance Techniques with my academy using Pat McGrath products; surprisingly not even my Tutors were very familiar with her brand 😳 Are the most artistic palette and quality wise on the market to be honest ❤ I’m pretty new on RUclips and love you stand up for this amazing brand.
Looking for tips. I have a light olive complexion and when I use the Astral Amethyst shade it looks very pink on me. Any suggestions how to bring out the lavender/purple? Thank you!
I wonder why I initially thought that the palette maybe Midnight Sun? I have also bought a selection of glitters etc. to use over the face. When I bring out all of these products, I seem like a mad scientist. I've got two jars of glitter flakes from Lethal, yet haven't dipped into them yet. I just received Mineralscape, Givenchy's 9.12 and Lethal's Mellow Grove arrived today! I'm swamped already with shadows, so the glitters will have to wait. It will be interesting to try them. Funny how everyone refused to go near glitters for the longest time and suddenly it's somehow acceptable.🤷🏼♀️ Glad you're still loving your Prada Lipstick Alicia. They are addictive, just like the eye palettes.🇦🇺💖👩🏼🎨
If I wasn’t inspired by Cyrus’ cocktailing then I 100% would’ve went with MS. And yes on the glitters, which I’m sure was in full sorcery mode in the 80s. And I forgot that Pat released a gold pigment in 2015 that can be used on the eyes, lips, and face 😳 I think it was cool that she developed a texture that can be pressed in a pan, in order to make application easier. And I’m addicted to the Prada eyeshadows, and will be getting all of them 🤷🏽♀️
@@aliciaarcher That's great to hear about Prada! Back in the 90s, Dior came out with a product that is finely-milled glitter particles that is meant to go on the hair. It's encased within the handle of a brush with a button on the end that releases product to the brush, (like a make-up brush). It did not work at all. I then decided instead to use it as highlighter, before highlighter as we know it was created, on my cheeks, decollette and shoulders. I still have it to this day! To be honest, I can't remember glittered eye looks from the 80s, not in public anyway. I was only into some satin/matte neutral shadows myself. Maybe glitter hadn't come to Australia back then. Make-up is a whole different ball game to what it was in the 80s. There was no such thing as a shimmer shadow for a very longtime, especially before I decided to take the plunge. Cosmetics have taken off with a vengeance, especially during the 2000-teens. I must admit it was Mother Pat that interested me in the more colourful shadows of a higher quality. Now, I'm making up for lost time! My goodness, I didn't even have permanent internet in 2015! It is upsetting that so many brands still don't deliver to Australia and New Zealand. As long as I can get my hands on the brands I want, no matter how far they travel, I'm content. I'm certainly making use of unlimited internet and online shopping now! I keep my parcel delivery guy and postman in a job. There comes a time when you know you deserve to splurge and I definitely have!💖
Right because Blitz Sextreme could’ve been a baked shade, like VR Sextraterrestrial was in DRII. But happy we at least got the baked shades for Amethyst and Orchid 😮💨
I own no Pat McGrath.. not that I wouldn't like to. I'm juat so broke and there is so much amazing makeup out there these days. Really excites me to get back on my feet and back into trying new makeup for fun.
I will always be a fan of Pat McGrath. I feel that overall, she has given us outstanding products... and I think the prices are pretty fair if you look at what is being charged for makeup nowadays.
Alicia I LOvE LOVEeee Your hair ! ! twists !! ♥‿♥ They look so good and you look so super pretty as always ! 😍😍🤩🤩🤩💖💖!! Thank you for your videos and going back to palettes you already own
I learned that our skin creates its one natural moisturizing factor, that skincare brands have been trying to replicate for years. I’m trying to reclaim my NMF 🤣 And it has helped to no apply tons of moisturizer day and night. Before makeup is fine, but I just take it off afterwards.
I love PML and always will check them out but without the creativity of the early years I'm always disappointed and it's no longer an auto buy. The benefit of PML was the luxury of TF but the excitement of an indie brand. That zeal, the originality, the artistry is gone along with the high quality packaging. They've dropped out of high luxury in my mind to premium - good but not great and comfortable. The for PML is I can either get high luxury good products like Prada or Gucci, or I can go with a premium brand with good products for cheaper like Fenty or Haus. PML is no longer unique and it doesn't make sense to pay more for less
I just want the " Lapis Luxury " & " Purple Reign " back ! Also the baked formular back , & no more PINK colors Mothership anymore ! & the PACKAGE do get CHEAPER & CHEAPER ! SAD ! Its Like a nightmare would not stop ! Horrible !
I think the brand cut corners on the packaging in order to keep the formula high without increasing the price drastically. Because the highlighter duos are not the same in regards to the construction.
Always a good day when Alicia drops a Pat McGrath Vid! ❤
🙆🏽♀️✨ This was fun to film!

Agreed, DRII was the peak, and after that is where the changes were most apparent.
Wednesday is my 55th birthday and for the 3rd year in a row I will be using all my PM products because I always feel so pretty sparkly in still a beautiful soft way while still using color. I hope she comes out with new colors and products

If only it was baked, or even a smoother metallic 😮💨 I feel it’s too wet? And doesn’t have enough coherence to it.

Yes the one with the pearl is smoother. And it doesn’t look too shiny, which makes it easy to plop on.

Edit: got to the end 🙂 I think there are people who want her to “cook all the way”. Especially after the Maison Margiela show, which spotlighted just how amazing PM is. PM is visionary and her namesake brand just isn’t any longer.
This makes me want to do a full face of Pat in the morning! 😊
28:00 I feel this one has a bit of a cooltoned lilacy/ lavendery shade - but more on the greyish side
I love Pat McGrath Labs ❤❤
Yes Pat knows skin! 😍✨
Your skin is looking fabulous btw.. really enjoying the video. Thanks for all your hard work and knowledge. I learn a lot from watching you. ❤❤❤
Foundation is in my top 5 that I go to when I wanna look fresh and natural
Hi Alicia, HUETOPIAN DREAM is my first Mothership palette, and I like it , not love yet, because I only used it once & learning how to use it on my eyes, with more play with these eyeshadows I know I will love it, ( it has my respect, building to love), I very much enjoyed watching this video and appreciate all your honesty and knowledge on Pat McGrath Labs products. Love Katherine xoxo
Huetopian dream has this gorgeous peach shade that you can definitely also use as a blush
Awesome tips ! Thank you so much! I own all of these and I just learned so much.
Beautiful look❤ love pats motherships❤
Thank you!!
Thank you, Jeannette 😍
38:00 😆👍🏽
I love your videos and PML❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I enjoy all your videos 😍
Ah, the good old gold hockey puck! Kinda like Estée Lauder’s Modern Mercury?🤔 I never bought it thinking it would be too deep for me
Looking for tips. I have a light olive complexion and when I use the Astral Amethyst shade it looks very pink on me. Any suggestions how to bring out the lavender/purple? Thank you!
Perhaps pair it next to purple matte shades from a different palette?
Yes, same here with Kayla, where you might have to pair with something more purple in order to bias the amethyst.
Thank you for the inspiration, I did my own full face of Pat today. Great makeup day. 😊
I’m happy to hear that! I’m sure it turned out beautifully 🥰
There comes a time when you know you deserve to splurge and I definitely have!💖
I feel Pat definitely made glitter more accesible!
@@RoseOfMadina 1000%!
HD was the last mothership with baked shades. Moonlit had none, and neither did Sunlit. I dearly miss those.
Right because Blitz Sextreme could’ve been a baked shade, like VR Sextraterrestrial was in DRII. But happy we at least got the baked shades for Amethyst and Orchid 😮💨
@@aliciaarcher yes indeed!! 🥰
1:01:43 what shade is that it’s gorgeous! I love the new Satin lipsticks… nude Venus I love to mix with darker lip liners 🤍🤍🤍
Love your deep dives❤ Thank you
I have everything PML. Not a fan of the foundation, really lacks coverage for me. Love the powders, primers, brushes and of course eye shadows always.
Yes the foundation is on the lightweight side. Powders are fantastic 👌🏽
is true that PML is sold? that Pat is not in the brand anymore ?
Alicia- what brush are you using to apply the blush balms ?
Omg I forgot about the balm duos! 😱.
They are GOATED!
I own no Pat McGrath.. not that I wouldn't like to. I'm juat so broke and there is so much amazing makeup out there these days. Really excites me to get back on my feet and back into trying new makeup for fun.
Great video. We need a Natasha Denona full face next. 😊
I adore your videos!
She did release the three color highlighter with a single flap. Mine is not the trifold. Same gorgeous product. 😊
I will always be a fan of Pat McGrath. I feel that overall, she has given us outstanding products... and I think the prices are pretty fair if you look at what is being charged for makeup nowadays.
That’s great news! Happy the brand changed that compact 😮💨
Another great video!
Hey gurl hey
Alicia I LOvE LOVEeee Your hair ! ! twists !! ♥‿♥
They look so good and you look so super pretty as always ! 😍😍🤩🤩🤩💖💖!! Thank you for your videos and going back to palettes you already own
Moisturize moisturize moisturize!!!!
I learned that our skin creates its one natural moisturizing factor, that skincare brands have been trying to replicate for years. I’m trying to reclaim my NMF 🤣 And it has helped to no apply tons of moisturizer day and night. Before makeup is fine, but I just take it off afterwards.
Alicia, good afternoon. Tell me, have you tried a new pallet from Pat? 4? Даринг желание? I'm faced with a choice to take or not to take from Baer.
Daring Desire
You have set me off on a pat morning lets start with num 1 😂
Lessss gooo!!!
I love Pat McGrath it is worth the PRICE
You're adorable! Very charming!
❤❤❤😂🎉😂🎉😂Yeahhhh Love you Sis 😘 🙏!!!!!
Happy birthday 🎈🎂🎁🎉🎊. You look 40.
You know a lot of us are putting on 2 year old makeup. I think if I was young with acne prone skin I probably would not use older foundation.
There definitely is a risk, yes!
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
I just want the " Lapis Luxury " & " Purple Reign " back !
Also the baked formular back , & no more PINK colors Mothership anymore !
& the PACKAGE do get CHEAPER & CHEAPER !
SAD ! Its Like a nightmare would not stop ! Horrible !
The primer seems silicone-like. It’s fine.
I love PMG, but the essence made me break out.
Perhaps because of the fragrance, or perhaps it’s too oily.
@@aliciaarcher yeah, I didn't use it enough to investigate. It was a sample.
While I like the video telling people not to buy full price and wait for sales and some of the comments I found ahhhhhh 😢
You’re absolutely right it is worth the price, but the brand conditioned us to wait for a sale since they release so many per year 😮💨
