      As you probably know, he thinks it is a miracle that humans can get up and go to work amid great suffering, and so I think he would be positively astonished by your courageous struggle forward/upward (it might make him cry!). One of the things I love about him is that he is so full of wonder/awe, and his awe and wonder seems to focus on the individuals around him. Go man! You inspire me.

    I am a physician. I truly admire your ideas greatly. I noticed that during this one hour discussion, your voice was on the verge of breaking maybe six times. I know you are under stress from multiple directions, and I hope you are in control of your own health. Please know that you are too valuable of a human being to neglect yourself.

      Jordan wept I guess? I am not a Christian, but I did read the New Testament and haven't noticed a single reference mentioning that Jesus ever laughed or smiled - so by that standard Mr. Peterson is one jolly fella Tarantella.

      You should probably read his books, then watch some of his lectures. There is nothing new under the sun, but he puts ideas together in unique ways and gives powerful explanations. You need to be receptive to looking at basic concepts in new ways. One commonly discussed example involves personal responsibility. Another is facing the evil that is contained within each of us, (along with the good).
      From the last sentence in your reply, I suspect you have made up your mind, after very little review of his material. You really should look again.
      Peace,
      John

The average person wants a good life and help those around them. It is not in our nature to be evil. Go to hollywood and see evil in rare form but he is not calling them out, he is calling us out. @BartVanLinschoten so basically back to inaction of good people allows the evil to prosper kind of thing? Yeah I see your point thanks for calling me out, I still feel attacked and think certain groups need Jesus more than others lol. It is like the way schools teach, they spend so much time helping the slow kid that the smart one never gets pushed further. Why does the one already doing better have to always suffer. The world sucks and I didn't make it that way! But countless times have I helped people young and old, how much more seriously is expected. This guy talks a game but how many people have been helped or made felt better of false teachings (about religion in my view, science he's got it down). Hey I am not here to argue with you, I am just raising a red flag, If I am wrong so be it but if I am not, well I tried.

      Never in my 35 years on earth have I cried so much at the words expressed by these two.
      I've never felt a connection to the world, to people as I have in the passed 6 months, and I owe it to these two and the words they have used to show me what it means to be a person, a good person.
      Listening to them has made me feel like i have been floating through life, I've always been told I'm different for my perspective on life and took those words to mean that I am just odd, now I know I'm not odd, I'm just a good person, a good thinker, compassionate... some have called me selfish for not giving enough and that my words of advice to take individual responsibility for actions is not born out of a lack of love, bit a overflow of love for helping people better themselves with the challenges they face.
      I just would like others to find the same conclusions.

      U U joy is the fruit of faith, by the grace of God, a feeling we have that moves us, spiritually, but the 7 devils, ie, passions, can quench the said spirit, and these passions, metaphysicaly speaking, are acted out in our mortal members, hence, Luther's bondage of the will, in subjection to our devilish corrupt inclinations, but when we can with a repentant and sinful heart, believe the testimony of sins forgiven in Christ's name and blood, we have the transcendent feeling of overwhelming and ecstatic joy, hence, the double edged sword of the spirit, sorrow over sin and joy over the forgiveness of sins, but my point being, the passion of the sins forgiven is felt, with in us, ... some have passed out from the intoxicating substance of Christ's love and had to say.. be still my soul, these experiences I believe are felt by true believers

      @@giselefranca3182 Who are we to say he hasn't. I have been asking this question of him for a long time, hoping to hear that he has. Will that validate more of what he says? Will it give me permission to follow his teaching? Luke 9:49 But Jesus said to him, "Do not stop him. For the one who is not against you is for you." The agape love Jesus speaks of is not easy. It comes from sacrifice, "laying down your life for your friends". Jordan is not speaking about works salvation, he is speaking of the actions that come out of the kind of love that Jesus loved us with. I don't think for a moment that he believes his works will get him into heaven. If anything, I think he believes his "works" condemn him as them condemn us all. God is full of so much grace we can't fathom it. I feebly try to have a just a little for others. Bless you Gisele. The exultation is true and right. I just feel less and less inclined to try and figure out who is saved, and more inclined rather to test what I take as teaching against the Bible text. I pray for Jordan, as he stands for truth in the heat of hate, that Jesus will be near to him.

      @@stanislavpetkovic367 Yes, to clarify, that is a quote from Jesus in the Bible not a JBP quote, but it was very relevant to what Peterson was saying in the video. He is saying something like, "How can I claim to be good when I see my inner darkness? I just hide it better than most."
      In the original context, Jesus isn't afraid to claim to be good, but his claim to be good is connected to his claim to be the son of God. This man was trying to address him as a good and wise teacher, but not divine. Jesus was saying, you can't have it both ways.       Ethan Moon . And this is the reason Father in Heaven, sent the Comforter, to help us, when we recognize what Jordon Peterson said here, " no there is none righteous, no not one" all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. None of us can live the life of Christ, but Christ Himself, so how on earth are we ever to make it thru this world, ??? He sent His Spirit to help us, to comfort us and to overcome this world, change lives, give us hope, love beyond understanding, the abundant life, boldness to speak the truth even when your life is at stake, and most of all He promised never to leave or forsake us even when we fall short, for example , Peter's denying that he was one of His followers , and reading the shortcomings of the church in Galatia one would understand why Paul, was afraid for them. When we realize we cannot make it , without the Holy Spirit's help, no one can live the righteous life that pleases Father in Heaven, then and only then will we be moved by the Grace of God to live the abundant life that is only found in Christ Jesus because we live in Him, an thru Him. Peace;

    • @TempleofChristMinistries
      @TempleofChristMinistries 5 лет назад +6

      The righteous man recognises the unrighteousness of himself because his eye is open to see the sinful nature and opposes it, only God opens the eyes of the blind, the spirit of Christ is with this man but he recognises it not, because it is the power of his righteousness, it is the power of his sight, without it, he would not recognise these things, it is not by intellect or Instinct but by the power of God, as it is written; I will send to you a counselor and he will be with you and then within you, if a man like this recognises that this light can dwell within him and remove the sinful nature and bring him into perfection, then he would walk the path of the Christ.
      Christians today think that faith is just saying the right things and doing the right things and opposing the sinful nature as though this is a decision they make but it is not, it is the power of God in their life which produces it, but the Christian thinks that this is all there is, but it is not, as it is written; I will send to your counsellor who will be with you then within you, and when this occurs the man is born of Light, and this light will work it's way through the whole body like yeast in dough, and remove the sinful nature and the things pertaining to The flesh, and brings you into Perfection, but the Christian today fails to believe this therefore he fails to produce it.

      Jesus too, wept often. For He knew & spoke "deeply." But unlike what we've been taught (most of us, that is...) Jesus was a TRUE "man's man." You had to be, to face up to the Sanhedrin in those days!! They could "take you out" at a moments notice. Most don't realize or remember this fact about Him, or them. The Sanhedrin were "The Law, the authority" for Jews. What the "San-men" said, "goes/went" for that time in Israel. (with Roman limitations)
      JP, a "modern day" Jesus., of sorts. (he'd disagree, am sure, out of modesty) Who'd a thunk it yrs ago? Not him. Not by a long shot. Divine intervention? I wouldn't doubt it. 😇

      A lot of Christians have a saying: I am a sinner, saved by grace. It's a compact statement that encompasses the entire idea. It's a way for a believer to say how he's trying to live, acknowledge that he can't do it perfectly because he's a frail, broken human, and praising God because He's merciful to reach across to us when we can't reach across to Him.

      @@jamesp8164 Correct, in that understanding is the very power of the gospel. I do find it interesting that JP resists that step. I think he prefers to stay "neutral" on the question of faith because he is addressing an audience that may by reflex reject all of his observation should he give the perception of a "blind faith" follower (beholding to a specific religious entity). Most non-believers do not grasp the concept that believers have been afforded equity in terms of "as much if not more" evidence and proofs as the rest of the world.

      Prager's introduction clearly touched a nerve in Dr. Peterson from the onset, which resulted in setting the tone for the entire interview. Whatever happened in Dr. Peterson's life in the early 1980's, Prager's introduction took him back to that place of stark reality and pure humility. Many things amaze me about Jordan Peterson. Perhaps one of the lesser ones is how well he is able to compose and deliver his thoughts in the midst of such difficult emotional stress as he experienced in this interview as a result of Prager's bold introduction. • @Litcheck
      @Litcheck 5 лет назад +23

      @@TheBaaz07 I hear you! But it is a tad different because I'm not a fundamentalist Christian nor have I been exposed to only Christian literature. When I say found Christianity I'm mostly talking about how I was introduced to the power behind understanding how the Judeo-Christian ethic was used to create America and its institutions: judicial, fundamental, constitutional, social, etc. The better you understand where our systems came from, the more you'll understand the depth of meaning and importance that not only underlies those institutions, but the more appreciation there is to have about the institutions themselves. I would really suggest you take a look at the series JP has on the psychological significance of the Biblical stories, it's really a deep dive into the psychoanalytical perspective of how there are stories out there that are so much deeper than we are, and the more we unpack them, the more meaning we can find in this world that can be extremely nihilistic and dry. It took finding the Devil (a Christian metaphor for true malevolence, the worth thing in the world to me) for me to understand why I needed Christ (a Christian metaphor for a life with the most possible meaning) because without finding meaning to justify the suffering, I would've killed myself. It's about finding the meaning in life and the systems that outline our lives in the West but particularly in the US. At some level, it's really just an artistic expression, but religion has the deepest infinities in its metaphors so you're not playing a zero sum game without all the piece, you're really cultivating a wide reaching world view. I could've just said 'found religion', and truly it would've meant the same thing to me, the video was just discussing the US for most of the time and it made more sense in my head at the time to stay topical. It's been the best thing to happen to my meaningless nihilistic shell of a life, religion in general, because it's a very powerful tool to play with intellectually (without believing in magic or wtf ever, you know?) Though it's difficult to express my own opinion as the correct one, because Christianity is a very individual story and every can really take their own path through it, some people do believe the fundamentalist stuff, and if it helps them find meaning in this world, more power to them 🤷‍♀️ it's hardly ridiculous bro, you've got to think a little deeper than that. If it was ridiculous, it wouldn't take hold of nearly every society to ever exist, and you're not just clearly smarter than everyone to have ever studied religion, watch out that you're not being too self centered... Just because you can be super reductionistly rational and skeptic hardly makes you the smartest man to ever live. Religious people aren't just idiots lol. First accept that there must be more to it, take some time to listen, and I promise you'll find SOMETHING. Most people find a better life, but only once they decide they're not the smartest person to have ever existed and that all religion is a dumb waste of time. Good luck with that, dude.

    Its so hard for me seeing him so emotional, me being someone going through difficult stuff too (not as difficult as his situation with his wife). This man has helped me a lot, but seeing him go through huge pain and still trying to act with integrity and giving his best to continue his contribution to the world.... It just makes me feel courage to face raw reality and makes me see that even if you have your life together, life will bring you tragedy and it will hurt a lot but we can make the decision of trying to go through it with value, with full heart, with strength.

    Tragic view of life conversation reminds me of the story of the soul discovering he is light. It goes something like:
    The young soul asks the Father, "what am I" and the Father replies, "you are light". This satisfies the young soul and he dances around happily shouting " I am light! I am light! After weeks go by the young soul is troubled so he returns to the Father questioning,, "Father, you told me I am light, but what is light? I want to know what light is". So the Father points to the darkness and says, "go into the darkness, that is where you will discover what you are and what light is".

      Jay Ferris No, he’s not good, he’s wise. As he said, the only Christian was Christ. In other words, the only good one is God. Jordan Peterson knows the Scriptures pretty well.
      Romans 3:10-12- “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”
      And Jordan is careful to claim faith because of the seriousness of such a statement to say “I believe in God.” The Bible tells us the greatest commandment is to love the lord with all your heart. There is no man that has done that. Dr. Peterson knows that.

    I love JBP but I wish he would take a month off. Spend some time in the Bahamas or something. I think he needs to rest.

      impossible. That's it. Once a prophet comes back, there's no place he can hide. As he said, he will now be followed by a grateful crowd wherever he goes. Maybe if he went to the moon for the holiday..

      I agree with Dan, as I personally have been worried for a while about whether all of this attention is taking a toll on Jordan and perhaps his family too. I never met him, yet for some reason I worry it's all to much for him and he just needs to go to nature to escape all the hype. Even Peterson has had a lecture how being in nature is a healthy way to grow as an individual, just hope he understands his limits and remembers that it's is just as important to look after himself too.

      @Scott Krukowski The message of responsibility never becomes stale, it's the only message that works against cynicism and nihilism. If it becomes 'stale' then maybe you're at the point where you can make something of yourself and your life, and if you are at that point in your life; perhaps you should be grateful that you've made it that far.

      Cry. it's okay to cry. Figuring out why we're crying is the most important thing. I think it's in part that jordan is pretty emotional during this conversation, but it is most likely due to truth. Jordan is the mouthpiece of truth weather we like what he has to say or not. "Truth will set you free"- (and also make you cry). It's a clechae, but it's true; pun intended.

      Filmed in the Old City of Jerusalem, this ground-breaking documentary investigates the research of renowned Biblical archaeologists, Bob Cornuke, David Sielaff and Earnest L. Martin who claim that Solomon and Herod's Temples never stood on the Haram al Sharif, also known as the Temple Mount. If they are right, then there is nothing to stop the Jewish people building their long awaited for Third Jewish Temple in the actual site where the Temples once stood. But is tradition too strong? We'll see.

      "THE TALMUD IS ONE OF THE WONDERS OF THE WORLD. During the twenty centuries of its existence...IT SURVIVED IN ITS ENTIRETY, and not only has the power of its foes FAILED TO DESTROY EVEN A SINGLE LINE, but it has not even been able materially to weaken its influence for any length of time.
      IT STILL DOMINATES THE MINDS OF A WHOLE PEOPLE, WHO VENERATE ITS CONTENTS AS DIVINE TRUTH..."
      SANHEDRIN, 55b-55a:
      "What is meant by this? - Rab said: Pederasty with a child below nine years of age is not deemed as pederasty with a child above that. Samuel said: Pederasty with a child below three years is not treated as with a child above that (2) What is the basis of their dispute? - Rab maintains that only he who is able to engage in sexual intercourse, may, as the passive subject of pederasty throw guilt (upon the actual offender); whilst he who is unable to engage in sexual intercourse cannot be a passive subject of pederasty (in that respect) (3). But Samuel maintains: Scriptures writes, (And thou shalt not lie with mankind) as with the lyings of a woman (4). It has been taught in accordance with Rab: Pederasty at the age of nine years and a day; (55a) (he) who commits bestiality, whether naturally or unnaturally: or a woman who causes herself to be bestiality abused, whether naturally or unnaturally, is liable to punishment (5)."
