The song is told from a first person perspective of an addict. For a 13 year old to put her self in that position you can tell she is very empathetic. It was inspired by the story of a family friend that went through the struggle. Very relatable to so many people.
At 13, Pau was tasked by their teacher with writing a love song. She stepped behind the piano earlier in this same show, before they had even got someone with a camera over there. It is well worth reacting to. The song is called "Show Me the Light".
The slight rasp and intense emotion in her voice. The talent, creativity, and emotional maturity to write this at age 13. Apparently she was smiling early in the song in response to the crowd singing with her.
This is the performance that got me many years ago into TW. Was bored, this came up in the feed and as a metal head I clicked it more by accident than anything else. I was transported into another world by that girls voice. That same evening I had bought all their music from their website, and haven't stopped listening since. What an artist! I love DPA, but I will buy any solo stuff of Pau and a piano that will maybe hopefully one day be released .... 🤘🏻🖤
More evidence of how amazing Paulina is. Written about addiction it is not about a family member but from a news story she had read/heard about😢. This is one of the major reasons we in TWA say she can make a grown man cry. Thank you for reacting to this!
This was back in early 2018, I think January. Anyway, at that time, their crew was Dad, so moving the keyboard during the show just wasn't as practical as it would be today. The first time I played this song for my wife, she was boohoo crying at the end and said "What that poor girl must have gone through." I had to go find an early interview from around that time where Pau said "We haven't lived through any of these experiences. We have very happy lives. We read a lot of books." Contrary to a rumor I consistently see repeated that this was about a close friend or family member, I have never heard Pau divulge her inspiration for this song specifically. I've been to virtually all of their Patreon live chats, and it has never come up. I've seen it performed live 4 or 5 times, and she has never left a dry eye in the house when she sings it.
I had heard it was a documentary she had watched about drug addiction from the viewpoint of the addict, what it had done to his life and how it was more powerful than his love for his former life.
Thank you for the reaction. In an interview in 2015 (English version) at ages 15, 13 and 10, they explained where they get their inspiration from. Worth the watch. They are obviously highly intelligent individuals even back then at such a young age. Pau, so ever eloquently stated that they get their inspiration from books and none of the stories are theirs and in her words "we are very happy people"! One of the most innocent and heart warming interviews of their early years. Absolutely love this incredible band. In a class of their own. ⚡️⚡️
Great, great reaction. You don’t EVER need to apologize for pausing. You never ramble, you give us your heart. Thank you for that. We love you Jess, The Warning Army is here for you. I know that over on the band’s Patreon page, there is a subheading for reactions. Every time one pops up, somebody posts a link, literally within seconds. Every time we see your thumbnail, it’s like a must do to immediately go to your reaction. The band is releasing videos from their epic 10th anniversary performance at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City. The production is superb, the audience is out of their minds. The band is on fire, even though all three of them were very sick. There are a few songs released already, namely Disciple, and Z. You should check them out.
The majority of their songs, at least until their latest album, are not written from personal experience. There are certainly exceptions like When I'm Alone, Animosity, and Breathe to name a few. But most of their songs are written from an amazing ability to empathize with whatever subject they are writing about and whatever perspective they are writing about. They wrote a whole album about a woman who was an obsessed stalker turned murderer who then goes through a psychotic breakdown.
I know that when I was 13, there is no way that I had the mental depth to write something with such deep feeling empathy toward addiction as this. It is indeed mind-blowing.
She was smiling at the beginning because the crowd was singing along with her. Must be an amazing feeling when your fans sing with you. Yes she's an empath but they said in one of their documentaries that their songs are never about themselves but they get song ideas from the media. They said they all consume a lot of media, magazines, novels, etc.
Having lost my older brother to Addiction, this song really hits hard. What a beautiful composition from this young lady and she sings it with such conviction and emotion. Gets me every single time. Thanks for sharing this and for the wonderful reaction. 🥰🥰😥😥
I love all the warning songs but this one hits me hard in particular. I have no experience with addiction but I don't think I have to in order to appreciate what Pau has delivered. For me it is one of the most impressive and impactful songs from the warning.
Great vocal performance at sucha young age. 23 needs to be next from the Teatro Metropolitan concert. Her best vocal performance in my opinion. Song hits hard for me.
You weren't ready but don't worry, none of us were hearing this the first time. Black Holes always hits hard for me having struggled with addiction myself and also losing a good friend of mine because of it. Two years after he pushed everyone away that tried to help him I heard he died and despite knowing some stories always wondered what his last stage must have been like. Then this song, made and performed by three teenage girls no less, came along and describes it almost word for word...
I've watched this many times never thought about Pau being in the corner in the dark on purpose.I do know this is in a small venue/stage and is no longer around! This has been my alltime favorite by TheWarning Paulina's passion and that beautiful and yet haunting rasp insanely talented!
Can Pau ever make you feel her passion. Tears again. How many times I've heard Pau sing a ballad and have yet to get through a single song without the tears flowing.
Most of us say the same thing. Sometimes I almost make it thru this song with just misty eyes........but then Dany's high wail and Ale sings harmony and I see her soulful eyes. They all kill me. I'm right there with you Rip.
These ladies are so talented and from such an early age. They can belt out a metal banger or do something like this, and most of it in their second language. I have nothing but the utmost respect for them.
The best part about this performance is that Pau is being vulnerable and her sisters are up front, side by side holding their guitars like machine guns on an apache helicopter. Their posture letting her now she's safe and they have her back. And that's what they prove in the end. They "let her be'eee" ... DOOGIE
I've watched this video many times, and I, too, have wondered about Pau being in the dark. I've had several interpretations, but I wonder if we're over thinkjng it. Once again, he reat reaction. Keep up the good work.
What a powerful, profound song! Thank you for sharing this. Pau is an amazing human being! This sounds like she's singing about someone else. How old were they here? Dark corner, black holes?
I just learned that this song was from the point of view of an addict, so she was empathizing with someone else. Could be why she got so emotional, because it isn't about her :(
Pau always brings the emotions out she is amazing and Dany's backing vocals hit hard at the end this is a fantastic performance every version of this song breaks me. Being in recovery 15yrs the line "I surrender to my defeat" echoes for me. Great reaction thank you. 🔥⚡
I don’t know if the stage setup was deliberate as she did another piano ballad from the same location BUT it is quite prophetic that you mentioned it about a song named “Black Holes”, something that sucks in & destroys everything around it… even light itself. It also fits well with the scene the song is set in: a dank alley, broken glass all around our main character the addict. Their loved one endlessly ringing their phone trying to help this person despite having been burned over & over by them. Our character knows they’re just dragging down everyone around them like a…. Black Hole.
Less deliberate, more logistical. The keyboards always went where they fit onstage, preferably closer to the sister who was going to play them that show. During Lunario the keyboards were placed on Dany’s side of the stage. Dany played them for at least one song and then Ale walked across the stage and played them for another. For TedX, they were next to Ale because she played the actual piano entry for the song Survive which it was recorded with and is now played by Dany on the guitar. They stopped touring with a keyboard altogether for Mayday/Error and now only use a piano/keyboard for special occasions.
Hi Friend!!!... Good observation you make about the location of the keyboard...When they performed at the Dakota Bar, they were an independent band and had few staff, so they arranged all their equipment according to the space where they were playing. They also entered the show quickly and left very quickly when it was over because they were minors and couldn't be in a bar. Greetings from Mexico 🤘😎🤘
I'm not sure how intentional it was to have Pau in the dark. The fact she didn't insist on having lights on her says something. This entire show was lighting challenged regarding Pau. It's an exceptional show and an incredible snapshot in time, performing their first album. Later this year when they released Queen of the Murder Scene their sound would start to rocket off in a slightly different direction. The Warning V2.
You're right, she is in that dark corner that somehow reflects the desolation of what she sings. I had never noticed that detail before, but it is absolutely true. Greetings from Mexico City.
Thats an interesting perspective on uour part. I did not think about that, deliberately playing in the semi darkness. I thought that they could not get power for the piano at center stage.
While I wouldn't say it was a deliberate choice with respect to piano placement, you do make a good point that they could have moved the piano front and center for the two songs she played on piano during this concert. Or at the very least adjust the lighting for those two songs. Looking at old videos from those early concerts you do see odd piano placements quite often.
I did notice that Ale slid over closer to Dany (except when she had to be at the mic) for this. Whether consciously or not, I think she knew not to stand in front of Pau.
From my observations, I agree, there is no one more passionate than a teenage girl. These 3 sisters are true rock prodigies whose catalog of music, during their early years, will stand the test of time as among the very best for their age group.
One of my most anticipated video's from the Pepsi Center is XXI Century Blood. The omv for that is still my favorite that they've done and their TedX 20017 performances are among my most most played. Amazing how they released a record that good at that age!
Wonder if they decided on purpose to play this at a bar. Would be great if someone there changed there ways if they where in similar position as the song portraits
The song is told from a first person perspective of an addict. For a 13 year old to put her self in that position you can tell she is very empathetic. It was inspired by the story of a family friend that went through the struggle. Very relatable to so many people.

Also, Dany's solo is beautiful on it.
That was my favorite moment in this show, and near the top moment of any show.
The slight rasp and intense emotion in her voice. The talent, creativity, and emotional maturity to write this at age 13. Apparently she was smiling early in the song in response to the crowd singing with her.
Pau runs on passion. A true artist in every sense of the word.
This is the performance that got me many years ago into TW. Was bored, this came up in the feed and as a metal head I clicked it more by accident than anything else. When Pau sings you don't just hear her. You also feel her. This is what a musical genius looks like. ⚡⚡⚡
She was smiling at the beginning because the crowd was singing along with her. Must be an amazing feeling when your fans sing with you. So sorry for your loss, I know how that feels and with us far too many people more unfortunately.
I think that was the best/only place where the keyboard worked for the stage setup.
That song hits me in the feels. Every time.
I love all the warning songs but this one hits me hard in particular. I have no experience with addiction but I don't think I have to in order to appreciate what Pau has delivered. For me it is one of the most impressive and impactful songs from the warning.

Emotive, empathetic, visionary. *Black Holes* should come with trigger warnings! She read about addiction and channeled that existence into lyrics.
This song is so sad but beautiful too
Ya never know what's gonna come out of Pau's head...BUT I LIKE IT!!! and it's only gonna get better...Rock on Ladies!!! 🤘
I think the dark corner was more of a practical decision than an artistic one, but it does fit in well with the sing’s narrative and feel.
Besides, Pau gets atention from everywhre in the stage jaja
I've watched this many times never thought about Pau being in the corner in the dark on purpose.I do know this is in a small venue/stage and is no longer around!

No Body can do a Butterfly shirt like Dany... This Band is AAA ... Hope You get to see Them before they get too big.... wait... They are....⚡⚡⚡

It's almost like she is standing in a black hole. 😉
Paulina es una maestra de la interpretación te pega en el sentimiento wow
Great reaction I think this song brings tears to most peoples eyes mine included
This is one of my favorite performances. This song is just steeped in emotion as is this performance.
It never ceases to tug at my heart strings.
This song has made many a grown man cry, myself included! Simply stunning! Great reaction!
Pau is built for songs like this. He's voice and delivery just crushes your heart.
❤❤❤

Dakota Bar show is really good. It's also the live debut of Dull Knives.
Show me the light is another beautiful song written by Pau slso from the Dakota bar. Great guitar solo by Dani in that song.
Snother dong were Pau shines is the song "23" from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX
Correction* song

oooh that's an interesting idea
They played wherever they could get a gig, bars included.😊
@@SDsailor7 true but they chose to include that song. Wonder if it was planned out or they just had it and played it whitout much tought
hi, new release of this song: ruclips.net/video/OFNORZKpS1k/видео.html
