4:47 love the little jumping. It is cute and mesmerizing. The final look looks lovely on you and you did a great job showcasing all the elements.

Thank you! Haha, you gotta jump like that to make sure the petticoat isn't caught on the hoop, it's a very necessary part of the getting dressed process! :D

Beautiful video, I'm very sorry for your loss. My Mum died at the end of 2019 and I often wished mourning attire was still in use/fashion, to make life easier!

That was a very well-done mini presentation on mourning, and you did a wonderful job explaining each garment used. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I will be adding it to my library of historical videos

I think that Victorian Mourning attire, while restrictive, was quite beautiful! You have sewn a very lovely mourning outfit, my dear! I am in mourning, myself, because my father died this month. I am wearing black, but not dressed like you are in this wonderful video. Thanks for sharing this! ~Janet in Canada

Now all you need is a time machine! It’s beautiful. I enjoyed all the detail. Lots of “oooh” and “ahhh”. I’m sure your mother would be very proud.

Isn't it adorable?! They are so useful and easy to carry, I wish I could figure out how to get a hinge on the modern ones to get them to collapse too...

fun fact, the black dresses worn during morning were very heavy and stiff and treated with toxic chemicals like arsenic, (what wasn't in the victorian times), so not only would women be emotionally sick with mourning, but would be physically sick from being poisoned by their mourning clothes, which would be worn for months or years at a time.

Thank you so much for such an accurate and detailed representation! Your mesmerising voice, your apparently extensive knowledge and the brilliance of filming and editing make it one of the best videos on fashion history and Victorian fashions in particular I've seen. I do hope your channel will get the recognition it deserves!

Very nice video! I like the rule, that you must wear the boots before the corset. But I suppose there could be a problem if you are going somewhere where you must have to remove the boots without touching the corset..

Fun fact- it was not even to show grief sometimes, it was more an excuse as to why you weren’t married. You wouldn’t want to be seen as a spinster after all. (Also, deeply sorry about you mother)

Beautiful. Not going to lie, if I was a Victorian lady, I would be dressed as if I was mourning, even when I'm not. (I like to dress mostly in black.)

Hehe, well, I bought the materials, such as the fabric and metal hoop parts, then I followed the instructions to sew them all together into the hoop myself :D

You could say this represents the later Victorian era since crinolines weren't used before 1850s.
