The observation deck of the Sears Tower in Chicago, it has the glass floors that you can walk on. There has been several instances of the glass cracking with people standing on it, however what people don’t know is that nobody was in any danger. The glass can support several thousand pounds, the layer that cracked is essentially like the screen protector which gets replaced every so often anyway. It’s likely a similar situation with the fish tank
Glass is a funny thing sometimes. I used to work on a changeover crew at a sports arena in Estero, FL. We would convert the floor from one event to another. When we assembled/disassembled the hockey rink, we would have to pick up those huge panes of glass. The larger pieces were a couple hundred pounds each, and made to last. We had a couple of them drop before, and they did not break. Others shattered when putting just the slightest bit of pressure on their stanchions.
Believe me or not, but I worked for Livingcolor Enterprise from 2015 to 2018 and I worked for the team that maintained thiese two aquariums on the field. Sad to see it go, was even sadder to know honestly not many people knew it was even there lol. But the aquariums on the field always caused us issues, I remember there was always problems with the filtration. I liked it, thought it was cool, was pretty cool to roll up to the stadium, taken as a priority by the security at the stadium and be able to walk onto the field to maintain the aquariums.
Derek Jeter ( No Offense ) did away with a food concession area and replaced it with treadmills 😂 Fine, but people are at a game to relax & eat, not work out 🤷🏻♂️

Unfortunately, the stadium, uniforms and team in general is pretty bland these days. Bring back the old pinstripe unis, add some color to the stadium (other than that deep blue) and, idk, maybe field a competitive team
To be fair the new Yankee Stadium is much better than the old one despite how legendary it was, which became very outdated and falling apart in the end. Not to mention it was very crammed. PS Steinbrenner apparently was planning a new stadium since the 80’s.
Also liability and maintenance reasons IMO, such as having to maintain the tanks and making sure people don’t kick the tanks or disturb the fish etc. It’s just one more thing the workers had to do, similar to Walmart’s situation as to why they discontinued selling live fish albeit that was for a bit different reasons.
I remember when that aquarium reality show built and installed those tanks. However they were not directly behind home plate....they were off to each side so you couldn't see then on TV, which was disappointing. I remember on the show they had one of the Marlins pitchers throw as hard as he could at them....didn't break. I am sorry Jeter was such a jerk.
There was no reason to get rid of the fish tank, they should have retained it & put it back behind home plate, but maybe downsize the tank a little bit
This. IMO I think part of it was because the workers may have had to keep telling people, especially kids not to kick or tap on the glass. Not to mention it was added maintenance. Similar to Walmart, who also stopped selling live fish in 2019 in part due to PETA (not to mention their tanks were always filthy, and many of the fish seemed neglected or even dead).
I wish they hadn’t gotten rid of the fish tank that was behind home plate, I wish they would have saved it and put in bulletproof & shatterproof glass as well
The Installation of Artificial Turf was the dumbest change at Marlins Park.
I didn't know turf was artificial
They try to make the natural grass work but the grass suffered from burnt spots especially in the outfield.

Bring both the fish tank and the sculpture back
Sculpture is still there, it’s outside
@@zcorpalpha2462Is the sculpture still operational or is it rusted?
@@daviejz6698 Miami weather can be brutal
They really don't need the sculpture anymore. The team is laughable enough without that gaudy monstrosity.
Absolutely not it was stupid the stadium looks so much nicer now without it. We go to a bunch of games every year and it definitely is much nicer.

Art Statue is outside the stadium 🏟️ still

Jeter wanted to make Marlins Park boring and bland like Yankee Stadium.

I did know Marlins Park had a fish tank.
I hope the Rays do something special with their touch tank in the new stadium.
Jeter was just too cheap to pay the maintenance bill on the tank.
Jeter was just a figurehead and only owned 4% of the franchise.
I’m sure cost was related.

bring back the fish you cowards
The sculpture was obnoxious and ugly. The fish tank removal was unnecessary
Well since they got rid of the sculpture in center field couldn’t they just move the fences in on center field?
Wait a few days ago you said you don't think the fish tank ever broke, but at 0:50 in this video you're talking about it...
Well there's broke as in water cascading out, and broke as in what happened in reality. I don't think it ever BROKE broke (thank god)
There was no reason to get rid of the fish tank, they should have retained it & put it back behind home plate, but maybe downsize the tank a little bit
This was an amazing idea for some great shots! Too bad they had to decommission it.
Love the videos. Keep up the good work, Ginger!
Sarasota to Miami is more like a four hour drive, not two.
What a tacky looking park. Those pillars are awful. And I get it's Miami, but the green is also ugly.
PETA probably played a big role.

Move the dolphins there this should've been the dolphins stadium
I miss the sculpture big time and completely forgot about the fish tankS

The glass they had was bulletproof and shatterproof.
