Truth be told, Nova was trying to close in and even use ranged moves, but Phoenix's best asset is gathering "Evidence" as soon as possible, so he put up a guard and kept his distance. Once he gets the 3 pieces of evidence he needs for "Turnabout Mode", there's absolutely no reason NOT to attack with him. Heh...
Love what they've done with Wright. A quirky character with lots of references in his playstyle, and I love the Objection factor to his character, as Phoenix is always the underdog in most situations, let alone a battle with super heroes. But once he gets his Objection, there is not a thing that can stand in his way. Oh, and Nova looked kinda cool.

You know, it makes me wonder if the different pieces of evidence have different projectile properties in trial mode or if the projectile properties depend on where the item is placed in the evidence bar. Because he does have at least 5 different pieces of good evidence: a knife, a flower vase, a watch, a picture, and an autopsy report. A camera and a wine bottle are also evidence he can find, but I'm not sure if they're good or not since they weren't yellow when he finds them.
It seems like Phoenix has different Evidence sets. Like, the one he used to activate his Turnabout mode in this fight seems to come from the Matt Engarde trail, Game 2 case 4. I think the one in the Nova vs Phoenix Wright vid came from one of his own trails, Game 3 case 1.
Ah... I see how it works. Wolverine is the first witness in the case, easily defeated with a little help. Nova is the troubling one that takes ages to get rid of and easily trounces all of your help. Taskmaster is the actual culprit who only takes a little bit, but still hits you pretty damn hard before you trounce him.
OH GOD. Phoenix Wright's lvl 3 + X-factor + Cornered Buff. I guess it really is like the games, taking the situation and turn it around. His objection even overrules character theme change, but too bad they didn't add a Psyche-Lock mechanic D: Chapter 1: The Turnabout Battle
@macmazi36 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Capcom said that that poster in the background means nothing. It's just there to reference an X-Men comic cover that had a similar cover. The only reason why Mega Man isn't labeled as slain or apprehended is because his picture is in the same spot as Wolverine in the original cover.

I liked the Phoenix Wright character, with all the jokes and strange gameplay, no one has to be upset just enjoy that we have more characters now, and no one have to play with each character either.

@AzumangaFan13 Good because my theory is that wanted poster is a list of future DLC characters. Those with apprehended will be DLC at some point in the future while those with slain won't. Megaman is most likely still be decided on.
@Maverickaru They both have the exact same powers and Venom simply has a tendril attack in place of Web Ball. They even have identical Hypers. Carnage would only serve to worsen things instead of adding in other Spidey villains who might actually have unique playstyles.

@ProtonicShadow MvC2 and MvC3 are very different games that play very differently and returning characters from the former always have new moves and attributes in the latter. Old characters can add just as much variety as new ones if handled correctly, and new characters does not necessarily mean character variety.

I dont give a shit what the haters say: I played the first PW game once I found out he was in. I was expecting him to have a unique moveset, and I WAS NOT disappointed. He's going on the team along with two of my other badass favorites, Zero, Phoenix Wright and Vergil BAYBEE

This also makes me wonder about Phoenix's different modes and if the moves are different. I mean, we've only seen him use his Conviction Hyper when he was in Turnabout mode. Does that mean he has different level 3's depending on which mode he's in? Could the legendary Psyche Locks be his level 3 Investigation mode hyper? It would make sense since its during the Investigation part of a case Phoenix uses them. ... Or they could be a grab.
im trying to understand the folders on his bar. theres 3 and then a blank spot which changed from a magnifyglass a coin and his finger. it looks like he digs for the items w/ the glass and can throw them, at 0:27 he gets 3 and the coin thing and he shoots a EVIDENCE BEAM from the stuff he found. getting all3 lets him give him the finger :) and the objection power and his lv3
@kaihedgie Thats why i said OR carnage. There is no way that venom is a clone character of spiderman so i assume you are talking about carnage. It's one character that would also help with the balance of good and evil.
@InfinteSaint is true is a big DLC hopeful but personally I think a better option would sigma, vile or X but obviously the classic Mega Man i dont think missing in this release

I think I get phoenix's moveset. Its sort of like amaterasu and changes between fighting styles. Search, Court mode, and Objection mode. Though Im not sure how it comes to being activated. Maybe you have to be close enough, then phoenix says objection and freezes you while getting his most powerful moveset. To activate the lvl 3 you need to have 3 evidence items that you get in search mode and be in objection mode. It seems to be unblockable though..... Awesome! XD Cant wait!

I'm glad to see how Phoenix is able to turn the tide of a seemingly lost battle as epicly as he would with one of his trials.
The Cornered theme is so epic, it even overrides other characters themes after a KO switchout.
It's really nice to see Ruby Heart, Amingo, and Son Son have an appearance in this game, no matter how minor.
I Liked How The Music Fit With Nova Before The Match Started...It Makes Him Feel The Hero Of The Whole Game

@ultis9 Yes! Megaman and Megaman X are cards in Heroes and Heralds mode and Megaman X is a DLC for Zero!
Phoenix Wright is hurt characters with moves that normal wouldn't hurt anyone. Imagine how much damage he'd do if he were actually attacking...
