This is damn tight drumming, and given that Phil Collins is one of the world's very best drummers, to be able to accurately replicate one of his biggest drum heavy songs, and there are some real corkers on Hello, I Must Be Going, you can put yourself right up there. Surely Sussudio has to be next.
Just discovered you. Really impressive, so solid! I've always strived to cover songs exactly as written, but have rarely if ever achieved that perfection. I can tell you do too, but with great success. I don't read, and have often wondered how one keeps track of place on the chart with the occasional glancing at the kit during fills etc.?
Thanks for the compliments! I have always read and played in pit orchestras for years. If it isn't very complex, which most pit gigs aren't, I generally never look at my kit and am just fixated on the music. If I need to look at my kit it really is just a matter of "buffering" what I need in my head and then coming back to where I know I should be. If I played 4 bars looking away then I need to find 4 bars after I last looked. Its just a practice and experience thing and you get better at it over time. The problem I have now is that I don't generally memorize or retain anything by ear. I know the track but I need the music to prompt the various "sub routines" in my head.
@@andrewlinhart8564 For me, that can only play by ear, it blows my mind that you're reading, and also playing that fluidly! Difference between an amateur and a pro! Thanks for your videos. I watched your Toto, Hold the Line video for a recording session I just did. Doing a "quarantine" series of covers with friends to break up the monotony. I wished I could read for that song. My pea brain struggled to remember all the nuances of Porcaro's composition. Your video really helped! Cheers Andrew!
Andrew that was REALLY GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Sub #67, Liked. I am GUESSING..you've had at least one or two drum lessons. ;) How long did it take you to become this good?
@@andrewlinhart8564 Amazing. You are exceptional! The "one or two drum-lessons" crack was not meant to offend you. I hope it didn't. Have a great day Sir!
I started learning to read music very late in life. Aged 57!! This was the first song I used to break my chops reading sheet music. Not that I could really even play before. Absolutely love your rendition. Well done! Did you transcribe the sheet music yourself?
Well, it don't matter to me what you say, what you say And it don't matter to me what you're doing alright, alright Because I've heard it all so many times before Just what you're saying And I don't really want to hear it all no more, no more Don't want to hear it no more 'Cause there's no way that you can run 'Cause I'm gonna find you And there's nobody that you can turn to 'Cause I'll be behind you just to remind you That it don't matter to me, yeah, what you say, what you say, say, say, say Well it didn't matter to me what you're doing alright, alright, alright It seems to me it's been too easy for you for too long So you'd better climb down before you fall and hurt your pride, your pride You're gonna hurt your pride 'Cause there' nowhere that you can run to 'Cause I'm gonna find you And there's no place that you can stay 'Cause I'll be behind you just to remind you Well, it don't matter to me, yeah, what you say, say, say, say, tell what you say Well it didn't matter to me, yeah, what you're doing alright, alright Well, it don't matter to me what you do Well, it don't matter to me, I'm talking to you, talking to you Well, it don't matter to me believe me Well, it don't matter to me, oh oh It don't matter to me, yeah, what you say, say, say, say, tell what you say It didn't matter to me, no, what you're doing, what you're doing, what you're doing, what you're doing It don't matter to me, no no, what you say, say, say, say It didn't matter to me, no no no no no no, what you're doing What you're doing, what you're doing, what you're doing It don't matter to me, oh oh It don't matter to me, oh no no no no no no It don't matter to me, no

@@ChristopherSaindon I've taken a couple stabs but I need to really dig into it. It's on my list though.
