"Kind of Blue" would never have become the classic that it is without Bill Evans -- Miles knew that, and recruited him for the sessopm, and "Blue In Green" IS Bill's composition, and his his influence is EVERYWHERE in the session.
Hi, probably it was okay from Facebook, but this video on RUclips has garbled sound in the first ten minutes, then later there are "buffering" instances throughout. Maybe the storm interfered with the transmission? Can you fix this?
I'm digging Wayne a lot, and from a musical perspective, Cyrille's vocal chops are enough that she doesn't need to use her wardrobe to exploit her sexuality.
Said respectfully: Cyrille owns every ounce of her talent and her femininity. It’s myopic to equate volition with exploitation. Her confidence, mastery, & freedom in her craft outshine any scrutiny or faulty conclusions. This was a first-class performance that will be remembered for the phenomenal level of *musicianship* and the *joie de vivre* that she consistently brings to our jazz beloved. -& must you agree with me? Well, you needn’t. I think the real question is whether we are secure enough to handle the range of her artistry. 🙏🏽♥️
From a jazz sound live recording engineer to Cyrille -- there is NO need for you to work the mic directly into your mouth, a very rock and roll thing which has the very negative performance result of covering your face, reducing your contact with the audience. I've worked with and recorded Carmen, Sarah, Tony, Sylvia Symms, Joe Williams, Bill Henderson in live performance, and NONE of them ate the mic like you do. A GREAT position for the mic is a bit below your mouth, facing upward. And not too close -- the only good thing that does is make you louder in your monitor, but the very bad thing is that it destroys your dynamics. A mic pointed straight at your mouth boosts lows, making you muddy; close below your mouth, facing upward, avoids this.
Do the dynamics of mic placement compete with the epic impact of Monday’s performance? As a non-sound engineer (but as one who dedicated her studies to physics & human physiology) *Cyrille’s connection with the audience felt as if it resonated on every neurological, sensory, & mechanical level possible…* - our joy & adoration of this music were amplified by her skill, savvy, & fearless intuition. Cyrille - ma soeur, un performance extraordinaire.
Cyril let Aimee and Emmet Cohen, two living legends. What ahoy they’ve brought.
Is Emmet nowadays one of the better, best jazzpianists ? Yes ?
Without a doubt one of the best.
I would say YES!!!
:/…
Why bother debating? :D
Yes!
Remember watching re-runs on Monday nights and wishing the major networks would broadcast some good music?
Always amazed by how the pros can take a standard like Autumn Leaves and instead of being bored of it, breathe new life into it 🤩

Something is wrong with this recording sounds like someone is shaking jingle bells I’ve tried it on my TV in my headphones on my phone

なんていうかトランペットが垢抜けないな、蟠りが残るソロって言うか。惜しい感じの。
Pooh
sound is not good
it gets sorted out after a few minutes, so scroll forward a bit and listen again
