When the Fan Slipped, I thought you got Shocked. Will have to Check my Drawers. 😬👍🙏
LOL That attic had more foil then some of the space craft we launched.
Damned you Curtis! When that fan + cover fell I jumped a mile. I thought you were getting shocked. Glad it was just a little gravity problem.
U are honest that's why I watch u
A trick an old man taught me years ago was to use an alligator clip on your leads while using the audio to search for a short/ground. I've found a lot of grounded wires from just moving them around until the audio stops.
Is the audio the beep on the meter
@@DAntignacMerritt Yes
I hear that noise all the time. Called tinnitus. Will drive you insane.
Neighbors need to be Billed accordingly for Dogs Interrupting your Video Presentation. 🤔😬👍
Definitely keeping it real and it we'll help others to inspect all that visually that's what i love about your video that's real life scenarios uncut and raw thanks brother
I appreciate that
Good job, We all make mistakes, but you found the problem.
Well at least it's not stink bug season anymore, for awhile anyway....
Most guys (not all) up North here would keep quiet about it and charge for the solenoid and call it a day…keeping it real also
If the fuse blow again , look at the defrost sensor. To test it, force a defrost. It happen to me a couple of times that the sensor was short . 24 volt pass into it.
time will tell. I agree with You.
Damn whenever it initiates a defrost call, it will completely stop after like 4 or 5 seconds?
@@brandoncorrea511yes , at the end of the cycle .
Once you removed the solenoid, couldn't you have just checked the electromagnetic coil to the metal base on the solenoid to see if it was definitely grounded before replacing it? Just an observation while watching the video.
A little cold at 31°F . . . . Oh you sweet summer child . . . . .
Good job Curtis always enlightening watching you work
Sometimes it’s so easy to overlook the unlikely 😅 Good find though
😂 happens all the time to me and it still gets me until I rule out everything else. Never think to look there first, always last
Next tool for you: find or invent a remote-controlled popper, so you don't have to go back up in the attic if you're working on the outside unit. Definitely worthwhile in July and August.
Great job Curtis 👍
Thanks 👍
Great job Curtis. Gotta love those critters.
Hello Vato, I watch you on both channels 👍
I appreciate that
Great job , very interesting puzzle.
Have to say the best hvac videos for trouble shooting on RUclips. Thanks for sharing
It's always a relief when you're in a customer's house and there are no chirps from a dying smoke detector!
4:40 - Curtis showing us, once again, the proper way to approach unknown puppers. No direct eye contact, as that is challenging them on their turf. Using a mild voice. Offering the back of the hand for them to get a scent, and reading the dog's body language. I get the impression they wanted nothing more but to come play with their new friend...
28:06 - THAT'S why you have a path to ground when the cable is plugged in! Well I'll be!
Good job
Need to invent some video software that eliminates unwanted noises I.e. dogs 🐕 barking and smoke detectors beeping
I almost stopped watching
@@peter-pg5ycbro got the Tik tok attention span 😂
That was a tricky one Curtis, at least you found a lizzard causing the fault 😠 Au
I saw sitting here yelling at the screen, "Check the wires at the plug." and finally you did. I wasn't expecting a lizard behind the board, you'd think they'd coat the back of the board with some kind of insulating material for just that reason.
called "conformal coating" and it should have had it, but apparently didn't.
I like your videos man! Thanks for posting these!
Thanks for sharing this one Curtis.
Good job 👍
Good content very good find!
Thanks!
Great job. You found the problem and got it fixed.
My favorite video I ever filmed was called Crusty Critters No Survivors. 😎👍
Love your transparency! Like Frank Sinatra said "that's life". Keep the videos coming 🙌🙌
I have seen a lot of lizards and frogs cause issues, a few snakes and a squirrel or rat once. I have had a few fan motors stop working due to a snake getting caught in it.
Fantastic diagnosis..you would have found the little lizard when you pulled the board to check the back side for shorts anyways..and the new solenoid was a bonus..I would have billed for the bare part anyways. Only because you had to go and get the part..and you infact replaced it..but I honor your decision..that's good business..and that's why you are such a busy and valued technician.and that's why I follow you to learn all that I can..this my rating of Fantastic job today
. Cheers Mate..
Honest as a day is long. To ur credit
Did you just spoke spanish 11:45, grate work, thanks for sharing
Yes I speak fluent Spanish. There’s a link to my Spanish channel at the end of the video.
Love your videos, another great video! I do wish you would have shown a defrost cycle at the end of that to fully confirm proper operation Through all scenarios. I was leaning towards the board, because towards the beginning of the video you plug that four pin back in and that’s when it shorted to ground. Awesome video love what you do
Thank you. That was a merry chase.
I think I would remove that board, and look at the back for bad solder joints, then remove all those molex plugs and spray them with CRC QD Contact Cleaner. At least start with the simple stuff. Curtis, dont you have some of those small magnetic dishes? They also make mag wrist bands for those screws.
Another great repair! You always find the problem!
Full of suspense 😮
Another little trick to be able to read faded data plates is to hold a flashlight on it from a 180 degree angle.
It’s a nice hands off approach for those delicate sun rotted data plates that disintegrate when you touch them.
When i did residential heating and air when a neighbors dog was barking most of the time it wanted to be petted, i would pet the dog over the fence and it would be quiet the rest of the time , but some actually wanted to bite me.😊
I have seen a number of your repair vids that the condenser fan grill has two wires protruding up through the grill near the motor. What are those wires for, is it normal and why? It looks unsafe and rigged. Please educate us on what it is and why its needed. Why is that compressor wrapped in plastic? I asked you if you find critters in that service area in the past. I guess that was proof. Well done. Thank You in advance.
Cap in a box or reversing leads tied to the grill. Which one gets the award. 🤔
Was that Rammstein playing at the end of the video? 🤘
Very possible
Buen trabajo Curtis as always 👍
15.87ohms that is your coil resistance 24/15.8 = 1.5a. i did the same thing this week thinking i found a short when it was just the contactor coil, my short would up being a bad thermostat, on heat mode it would intermittently short R-W-C. I initially diagnosed it as a bad inducer motor relay on the control board, but i went through it again the following day and figured it out. T overload a 3a fuse on a 24v circuit it needs to be less than or 8-9ohms.
Since there's something on Zapped on it if you see burn marks if you got isopropyl alcohol you can clean it then it should work again instead of replacing the whole board
It happens. Had a furnace that wouldn't stay lit because there was a bug in the vent of the gas regulator.
Great job
What do you think of using wagons for hvac wires ?
I live down here in Florida I run into that all the time those lizards are everywhere but I found a way to keep them out I put nylon mesh around it with a hot glue gun does it look good but it
😂😮
Doesn’t do in heat, would lead me to believe there was nothing going on with the reversing valve. Had to be energized to cool
Runs in cool when it defrosts
That’s true, I meant to say they said it ran okay in cooling and I typed heat. That lizard could have shorted W back to air handler blew fuse when it called to defrost and
121 ohms is more resistance than 28 ohms, the lower the ohms the higher the amp draw, the heater in the sequencer was bad, but it was closer to open than short.
Other than that you do good work.
👍👍👍
Sorry wago’s wire connections
Get a short pro tool the poppers are junk.
👍👍😊😊💡💡
Earwigs lizards and mice o my ya they can all cause havic have even had a snake u never know
Is that a Nordine product
Carrier, and ICP
What a mess
If the fuse blow again , look at the defrost sensor. To test it, force a defrost. It happen to me a couple of times that the sensor was short . 24 volt pass into it.
Lucky it didn't toast the board
